Re: [JAWS-Users] Window upside down

2011-01-25 Thread Rick Justice

Hi Patti,
You should probably check the properties of your video card from the control
panel,
chances are that you inadvertently hit a keystroke that changed the display
orientation.
Once the orientation is correct, you should be able to disable hotkeys for
changing it, so it doesn't happen again.

HTH,
Rick Justice

Re: [JAWS-Users] a new Laptop

2011-01-25 Thread Melissa
Good afternoon. I would recommend the Dell Precision laptops. It's what I
use for school, and it is a workhorse. It contains a quad-core processor,
so it can handle the processor intensive programs such as JAWS without
causing lags in running programs, i.e. Word. I often use many programs
simultaneously, such as JAWS with Magic, with Open Book and/or Kurzweil to
help me navigate tricky course work from classes like biochemistry, where
having some visual representation is absolutely necessary.
I am running Windows 7 Pro, with Jaws 12, and Office 2010, and have no
troubles other than my own ineptness.
The screen is large, 17 inches, which uses up a lot of battery life. I
typically get 2 hours out of a battery, so I have two. It contains a very
spacious keyboard, with a built-in number pad, so there is no need to plug
one in.
You can look up the specs, but I've had mine for almost one year, and it's
never given me any trouble.
If I can answer any further questions for you, please feel free to write.
My course load is heavy, so be patient with my reply time.
Warmly,
Melissa

[JAWS-Users] How does the latest JAWS 12 update effect/alter my current JFW 12 settings?

Did absolutely nothing for me. Google voice issues that popped up in the

I went to disk defragmenter and told it to analyze. It told me that I did
not need to defrag the disk, so I didn't. I know my memory is more than
sufficient, so I know that's not the problem either. It's just too much
junk running and I don't know how to get rid of it.

Re: [JAWS-Users] slow computer

2011-01-25 Thread Dan Rossi
You can use msconfig to prevent programs from starting automatically. Not
necessarily for the faint of heart. You can also get nittier and grittier
and look under administrative tools, services, and then disable certain
services, or at least at least set them to manual rather than automatic
startup. This is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Good luck.

When my computer is getting a bit slow, I do the following:

run disk defrag
clear temp and cache files
run spyware/malware removal tools
clear out unwanted cookies

This does the trick for me; individual results may vary.

[JAWS-Users] pdf printer with accibility tagging feature

2011-01-25 Thread Bharat

hi all,
I am using the Bulzip PDF printer to virually print all my documents. One of
the challenges that I face with this PDF printer along with all the other
pdf printers I have come across is that, none of the seems to add the
accessibility taggs while creating the PDF files. On the other hand, MSWord
or all the other office applications allow a person to add the accessibility
taggs as they convert the files.
Please help guide extensively in this regard.
