Re: [JAWS-Users] itunes Inquiry

2011-03-10 Thread Øyvind Lode
iTunes 10.x works well with JAWS 12.
I use iTunes myself to manage music and podcasts etc on my iPhone.
The latest iTunes 10.2 broke some keyboard navigation but it's still usable.
It's annoying but I hope Apple will fix this soon

forgive me if there were earlier threads about itunes with jaws. I am
relatively new to the list.

i have a need to use itunes for downloading movies for the apple tv.

according to what i read on the apple pages they say that Window Eyes is
accessible for the itunes application and it does not mention jaws.

I would appreciate hearing from listers who use jaws with itunes or can share
what you know about how they interface.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS repair

2011-03-10 Thread kimsan
The steps below are the best, most in depth, and most thorough way of
repairing Jaws according to Freedom Scientific Tech Support.

1. Place a copy of the Jaws executible version that you want to repair into
the main root of the " C " drive. For example; If you are running Jaws11
most recent you would paste a copy of " J11.0.1430-32bit.exe " into the main
root of the " C " drive. To open the main root of the " C " drive, go to
the desktop, press enter on My Computer, press enter on Local disk C, and
now you have the main root of the " C " drive open.
2. With the Jaws " .exe " pasted into the "C" drive, highlight the " .exe
", and press F2 as if you were going to edit this line of text. now press
control + C to copy this Jaws executible, press escape to close the edit
field, and press Alt + F4 to close the C drive.
What you want to do is place just the title of the Jaws version into the
Windows Run Dialogue box and not the file. If you were to place the Jaws
executible into the Run box without copying as you did as per the
instructions above you would have pasted the whole file into the Run Box
instead of just the title.
3. Now that you have just the title copied to the clipboard, press Windows
key + R to open the Run Dialogue Box. Type, remember to type a capitalC ,"
C:\ " without the quotes or
spaces and press control + V to paste the Jaws title, press your end key to
take the cursor to the end of the title and type in the following " /type
repair" without the quotes but, with the spaces . Below is what your line
of text should look / read like.

C:\J11.0.1447-32bit.exe /type repair

Read character by character to make sure you have put in the proper spaces,
Forward & back slashes and text. press the home key to go to the front of
the title and press enter to start the repair.

A 2nd way to do the same thing.
From: Brian Lee
Hello Jim,

You might have already resolved the problem, but if not here is a link that
you can use to download the newest update for your 64-bit installation of
JAWS. Information about performing the repair is shown below after the
download link.

ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/WebFiles/JAWS/J11.0.1430-64
bit.exe

After downloading the file you can do the following steps to repair the
installation:

1. Use Windows key with R to bring up the run dialog box.

2. Use tab key to the browse button and press spacebar.

3. Browse to the downloaded JAWS setup file and press enter key.

4. Use tab key to move to where JAWS says "open colon edit combo", press
the end key and then press spacebar.

5. Type in /Type repair, (that is first type a slash followed immediately
by the word type then a space and then the word repair.

6. Use tab key to the OK button and press enter key.

7. Follow the prompts.

Take care.

We're talking about JAWS+Shift+r which in fact is reply directly to sender.
Not the same as ctrl+r which is reply and ctrl+shift+r which is reply to

The quickest, easiest and cheapest way to create a PDF file from any

it from: http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp

Once installed, you select CutePDF as your printer and let it fly. You

You can do this quite easily. First, what word processor
are you using to create the document? If it is Microsoft
Word, there should be a "save-as" option, allowing you to
change file formats. Also, if you highlight the file name
in your documents folder, and press alt-F, there should be
an option to create PDF. Let me know if this was helpful.

CutePDF Writer must be used with PS2PDF converter.
Would you like this Setup program to download and install
a free converter (recommended) for you?

Did you install this as well?

Larry,
The quickest, easiest and cheapest way to create a PDF file from any
Windows application, that I have found, is Cute PDF Writer. You can get
it from: http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp

Once installed, you select CutePDF as your printer and let it fly. You
will be prompted for the name of the PDF file. I have been using it for
about 5 years and it just works.

You can do this quite easily. First, what word processor
are you using to create the document? If it is Microsoft
Word, there should be a "save-as" option, allowing you to
change file formats. Also, if you highlight the file name
in your documents folder, and press alt-F, there should be
an option to create PDF. Let me know if this was helpful.

Not in previous version, you just hit jaws key r and shift and it was done,
didn't have to make sure of anything. What would be the point of the
command if you have to make sure the address was highlighted, that would
defeat the purpose of the command.

so that you can have a text file of your addresses. I lost mine, my only
hope is getting them back when I upgrade my outlook n my netbook. If you

The quickest, easiest and cheapest way to create a PDF file from any Windows
application, that I have found, is Cute PDF Writer. You can get it from:
http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp

Once installed, you select CutePDF as your printer and let it fly. You will
be prompted for the name of the PDF file. I have been using it for about 5
years and it just works.

Hi Melissa,

I am using word XP, , there was no reference to PDF in the
save as dialog. I think in order to create a PDF document I
need additional software.

You can do this quite easily. First, what word processor
are you using to create the document? If it is Microsoft
Word, there should be a "save-as" option, allowing you to
change file formats. Also, if you highlight the file name
in your documents folder, and press alt-F, there should be
an option to create PDF. Let me know if this was helpful.

Try downloading Adobe, the latest addition, 9 point something or other.
which works well with JAWS. See if that solves your problem. Adobe is the
only software I have, and I can create PDF's easily. It is free, you don't
need the professional version,
Let me know if I can be of further assistance, though please be patient with
my replies as I have two midterms today, so may not get to emails until this

This is correct, but we're not talking about ctrl+shift+r.
We're talking about JAWS+Shift+r which in fact is reply directly to sender.
Not the same as ctrl+r which is reply and ctrl+shift+r which is reply to
all.

2011-03-10 Thread David Ferrin
Interesting, I do not have live mail and to be honest I don't recall trying
it with windows mail yet. I do know it does not work in outlook express.
Also I'll need to try it in outlook 2003. The strange thing 2003 works
better on my windows 7 system then it does on this XP box.
