[JAWS-Users] re-question: Number Row or Num Pad

2011-04-17 Thread James Flusche
Hi Kimsan, here is some suggestions on how to memorize the number row.
For left hand use:
Use the pinky finger for the 1
use the ring finger for the 2
Use the middle finger for the 3
Use the index finger for the 4 and 5
Right hand use:
Use the index finger for the 6 and 7
Use the middle finger for the 8
Use the ring finger for the 9
Use the pinky finger for the 0
I hope this is what you were asking for?

This way I don't need much time to type in the phone numbers!

I havven't followed this thread much but I never knew about turning the
numlock on to type in numbers using the numpad.
I am pretty slow with typing in numbers when on the phone and needing to
type in a number using the number row.
Would anyone have any tips on how to use the number row when typing in
numbers lets say while you are on the phone? I mean, me remembering a phone
number until I hang up the phone? Not gunna happen lol.
What I mean by tips is people often state when you begin typing, you should
have your fingers on the homerow keys ASDFG etc, so when typing in numbers
on the fly what suggestions would people have? I really like the numpad
route though and turning off the numlock key will not be an issue for me and
that is why I will begin using it. So, someone call me and give me there
number so I can practice lol just kidding.

Re: [JAWS-Users] question: Number Row or Num Pad

2011-04-17 Thread tim

ok, here are a few tips.
Remember when using the num pad. The numbers are reversed to a phone
with 1, 2, 3 at bottom on unm pad and top of phone. Leave left hand
on home row. That way when going back to left hand side your hands
will fall natural to keyboard. No more hunting for home row.

Would anyone have any tips on how to use the number row when typing in

number until I hang up the phone? Not gunna happen lol.
What I mean by tips is people often state when you begin typing, you should
have your fingers on the homerow keys ASDFG etc, so when typing in numbers
on the fly what suggestions would people have? I really like the numpad
route though and turning off the numlock key will not be an issue for me and
that is why I will begin using it. So, someone call me and give me there
number so I can practice lol just kidding.

Re: [JAWS-Users] David Ferrin On the Air

2011-04-17 Thread K Anderson
The provided links for the recording of Dave is not working for me. The
page loads, I wait 10-15 minutes, JFW counts down the percentage to 100, the
status bar reports "done" and later "error on page". I've explored settings
and done everything I know to do. Any suggestions? I have Windows XP
(Media Center Edition 2002) on a HP computer, Service Pack 3, JFW 10 Pro and
IE 7. I am not experienced with feeds or podcasts, know about Juice but not
how to use it, but am otherwise an intermediate computer user and
download/access many other things.

Re: [JAWS-Users] question: Number Row or Num Pad

2011-04-17 Thread Rick Justice

Hi Graham,
I have never tried this, since I haven't had the need,
but I wonder if a secondary USB numpad could be used to supplement the one
on a standard keyboard.
If this is possible, perhaps Jaws could use the one on the keyboard, and use
the external for numeric input.

Just a thought,
Rick Justice

Hi Stewart,

It sounds like Outlook took over as your default email client,
according to
the error message that you posted. Below are the steps that Flor
Lynch

posted on how to correct the problem.

From: Flor Lynch

Seeing as you're using outlook Express in nrormal email, try this:
Close

outlook Express. IMPORTANT: close Outlook or anything in outlook that
may be running. Go into Control panel; Internet Options; then
shift+tab
and then right-arrow along to the Programs tab. press the tab key
into
the dialogue. You come to the email programs combo box. Choose
outlook
Express from the list by highlighting it, tab through the dialogue,
and
press spacebar or enter on the OK button to make the change. You
should

then - doing what you're doing - be enabled to send mail via outlook
Express from My Documents.
Flor

Hope this takes care of the problem. If it doesn't, let us know.
Take

care.
Mike
