Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with word2003

2011-05-18 Thread Van Der Walt Riana
I'm not sure whether this has been dealt with yet, but your friend's
problem is a jaws one, not office 2003.

Try unloading and reloading jaws, or use an earlier version. On my work
pc, with jaws 11 as default, I need to switch to the only other version
available on this pc regularly, even though it's version 8 of jaws, to
eliminate this annoying jaws bug.

HI list,

A friend of mine is having a challenge with his windows xp system
running
jfw11 and word 2003. Since the weekend, the PC cursor is reporting
blank on
every document even though when he switches to the jaws cursor he can
see
there is text there. The computer is working fine in all other areas
except
for word. We've tried maximising parent and child windows, resetting
the
zoom in view. Deleting and rebuilding the normal document template, and
checking everything in the configuration manager's cursor options.

We're now to the idea of reinstalling office, but before we did that, I
wanted to see if anyone may have any other suggestions.

Thanks for any suggestions.

[JAWS-Users] attachments in Gmail web

2011-05-18 Thread Jorge Paez
Hi all:
Just wondering,
how do you download attachments using JFW 12 on the Gmail site?

Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question but I'm just starting to switch back
to Windows and even in my previous Windows experience never figured it out.

Thanks,

Jorge

Re: [JAWS-Users] Reading a pdf document with more than 1 column

2011-05-18 Thread Stephan, William S NWK
Greg: If I understand, you basically want one column of text, is that right?

So, one way you might get this to work would be to use a scanning program
like Openbook to do OCR on your .pdf document. You would:
open your .pdf document.
Do a control-P to print
select your scanner's import printer and hit enter.
If your scanning program is set to recognize columns, you should get what
you're looking for.

Hello everyone,
I have a pdf document that at various points in it has two columns. When
reading it with Jaws 12.0.1158 in Acrobat Reader 9.4.4 I cannot figure out
how to read each column separately. Right now Jaws reads continuously
through each line, treating the two columns as one line of text when the two
columns appear together. How can I configure Jaws to read each column
separately when they appear on the page next to each other.
Thanks for any help in this matter.

2011-05-18 Thread Hans Pauli Sundstein

Hi.

If your antivirus software scan's every document you're opening, Jaws' loses
focus on the document by this pproces.
So disable scanning of every file that are beeing opened on the computer,
but just program files, it should help.

I tried Windows Essentials but I didn't like the interphase that much.
Any free mail clients that work well with JFW and are easy to
use--preferibly without ribbons?

Thanks,
