[JAWS-Users] what, and how, does JAWS define as a section on a Web page?
Hi, I hope somebody understands the following, as it came up on another list. (I checked the matter out, and found that it was thus.) Sometimes, if you're looking for a specific numbered heading on a Web page, i.e., something that you know is under heading level 5, and you then press the 5 key, you may well be told that 'there is no next level heading in this section. that would be fine, except, (in this case) if you go far enough down the page, you will, indeed, at some point find something that is supposed to be under heading level 5. The 5 key (or any of the other numbered kieys 1 through 6) only navigates within a section. using JAWS13, there does not appear to be a 'section' key. (I know about the division key; but can that be it? the divisions can be too small to be of use in large Web page navigation.) That has been true for a long time. Working your way through the Surf's Up exercises, once you have a #3 heading, it stops searching if you hit a #2 heading. I just use 'h' because that makes me crabby. At 03:12 PM 1/29/2012, you wrote: Hi, I hope somebody understands the following, as it came up on another list. [JAWS-Users] JAWS 13 voices, 1 last try.
I have XP home and 12.0. On another computer , XP pro, I easily and successfully upgraded from 12.0 to 13.0. However, on my main computer I can not get the normal eloquence voice to work. When I used the disc to install 13.0, some other man's voice was present. I uninstalled it, and installed from the web. I still had the same voice. So, I uninstalled 13.o and real speaks, I'm not sure why. I just downloaded 13.0 from the web, for the second time, and the voice sounds garbled as if under water. It is similar to the XP windows voice. I've checked to make sure the eloquence is set as default and I did not try to modify my voice profile. Any thoughts? Many thanks to this annoying problem. Yet, other screen-readers do not have this limitation (or whatever it is). [JAWS-Users] How to get information about jaws that is useable to me
The easiest way for me to learn is to read simple directions on how to do something and take notes. And then, if I do an operation often enough, I memorize it. Otherwise, I look back at my notes. So I'm wondering where, on the FS website, I can find something to download or copy which describes Jaws 13 and also, how to use Read It. I see that there's material in daisy format, but then I have to find and download the FS Reader. If I do that, does it make it easy to read the material? Aren't there word documents that provide the same information? Hearing the material in a podcast doesn't seem to work. It's just too fast for me. I can't absorb it quickly enough. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Miriam For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
