Daily Tip:
Fix A Dropped Internet Connection

If your Internet connection drops, the router or broadband modem may be to
blame. Start troubleshooting by unplugging the power cords from both
devices. Let them sit for a minute and then plug in the broadband modem.
Once its status light indicates that it has Internet access, plug in the
router. Within a minute or two, you should be back in business. Other
actions that sometimes do the trick: powering down (but not unplugging) your
PC when you unplug the modem and router, and pushing the Reset buttons (if
present) on the back of your modem and router for several seconds.

  Daily Term:
cloud

The definitions for "cloud" and "cloud computing" are still evolving and
subject to debate, but you'll find that many people are referring to online
services when they say something is "in the cloud." Such services include
online photo-editing services, Web-based email services, online storage
services, and more. Businesses often think of cloud computing in terms of
scalability: Internet-based services that can scale to meet the changing
usage needs of a growing business. SaaS (Software as a Service), for
example, is software that his hosted online (instead of being installed to
your computers). It can be scaled for use by your growing company.

Re: [JAWS-Users] research it sports scores broken again

2012-02-14 Thread David Ferrin
The problem with email messages is simply things often get taken the wrong
way because all we get is the text of the message but not as much the
content or flavor of the message for the lack of a better term.

Rick is a moderator on here and he has been for almost six years in fact.
Actually the only people who have more time on here are Bob and myself.
Although I can't say with absolute certainty as to all such messages I know
Rick and am quite sure he wasn't being snotty towards you or anybody else
for that matter.

There are folks who do try to push the envelope at times skirting the limits
of our guidelines I admit but The people I have helping me out have proven
time and again that they are stand up guys by going to bat for something
they believe in more than their share.

With now over 600 subscribers on here there are going to be more such
misunderstandings simply because of the sheer volume of members, and
personalities in that large of a group are going to clash at times so we all
have to try harder to remember we are all of different skill levels and at
varying places in our lives. Some people are going to be having bad days
where others are not.

Any how I hope I have made my point, I'm going to climb down off of my soap
box now. I didn't think I was scared of heights but we got the deluxe family
pack of laundry detergent this time around.

[JAWS-Users] Outlook 2010 suddnly slow and crashing all the time

2012-02-14 Thread CrisMunoz54
Hello list,

Perhaps someone can help me out. I recently got a new Windows 7 Dell with
Office 2010 and other than the learning curve of learnign Windows and the
new Office, things have been more or less going ok. Today however, Outlook
starting getting real buggy on me.

Up until now, when deleting an email message, Jaws was right away responsive
and would begin to read the next message with no problem. Now however, Jaws
will often suffer a prolonged speech delay before going on to the next
email. I get over 200 messages a day between mailing lists, business and
personal and so on, so one can imagine how exasperating this can become.

Also, during the first few days, I didn't have a problem with Outlook, but
again, today it started crashing on me and I am getting those Outlook not
responding error messages where I'm asked if I want to restart the program
or wait until it responds etc.

I can't remember doing anything to my system or changing any particular
setting so I was wondering if others are in fact dealing with these sort of
issues. Like I said, up until today, things have been more or less fine.

I am using the latest Jaws 13 release from last week.

Thanks,

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook XP Brain-fade

2012-02-14 Thread Mike & Barbara
Hi Larry,

Below are the steps to take care of what you are wanting to do. They are a
little long winded but, the steps will Get er done!

Making Message Rules

Making Folder Rules in OE

OE 5-6 Message Rules Setup

This particular instance wil automatically tell Outlook Express to place all
emails from (what you set up) into your new folder that you made.

1 make sure you have a folder in your OE list of folders called(x) the name
of your folder that you want all your emails to go into.

Here we go.

2. While in OE 5 / 6, hit alt T to take you to the Tools menu.

3. press r to take you to message rules

4. press the letter M for Mail.

5. Press Tab one time for New and press enter.

6. Arrow down untill you hear where subject line contains specific words
and

Press the spacebar one time

7. Now tab once to Actions list. You will see or hear"Move it to the
specified folder." Again, press the space bar one time.

8. Now tab once until you see or hear Name of the rule. section 3 New mail
rule

9. arrow down to (where the subject line contains specific words)

10. press enter

11. type in exactly what is on the subject line of the email

12. tab to add and press spacebar

13. arrow down until you hear the name of the subject line you put in

14. tab to ok press spacebar

15. Down arrow one time to move it to specified folder, press enter

16. Now you will up or down arrow until you hear the name of your folder
spoken(to what ever you named your folder in the inbox).

17. Tab over to Ok and hit enter. You will be taken back to the mail rules
page.

18. tab to section 4

Press the backspace key to remove/delete (New Mail Rule #1) and then type in
the name you want showing in the message rules list.

19. tab to ok press spacebar

20. Tab to Apply Now and hit enter.

21. This step I'm not certain of. You may be able to tab past this and go
on to the next step. Another screen here and you should tab to Select all
button

and press space bar

22. Tab until you see or hear Apply to Folder Inbox. Hit enter.

23. You will be given a message that your rules have been applied. Hit
enter.

24. Tab to close and press enter

25. You are now in the mail rules page again and you should tab to OK and
hit enter.

> you are now finished.

Removing or Modifying Message Rules

if you do the following;

1. alt+t=tools;

2. R=message rules/mail,enter;

3. now, you can arrow down, to see if there is a message rule created,

then? once you highlight the message rule, "BlindAccessHelp" you can tab

over, to modify, press enter. now, you can go through the steps, and see

where you went wrong, or, just advance your way through the create message

filter,/steps, and see if you can't fix the problem.

otherwise? while in the message rules list, once you highlight the

"BAH/message/rule", you could tab to remove, press enter, then, then apply,

and ok, your way out.

then, you could start fresh.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Message rules question

Something to keep in mind when it comes to message rules in OE. Even

though Jaws might read the subject line like a sentence from left to

right, they are actually headings to columns.

For this group, I went into the message rules and in the first section,

you have 12 choices. I chose the 3rd one down. "Where the message body

contains specific words." Then when you have to fill in that field, I

just put,

this for a couple of different accounts and folders I
created for those particular accounts. In my case, I also
assigned different wav sound clips for different email
addresses so that I wasn't always checking my computer as I
belong to quite a few mailing lists and can get easily over
200 messages a day. Depending on sounds x y or z, I know if
it's a message sent to my personal account, one of my

can wait to be read later. I suppose you can also assign
different notification sounds for particular recipients like
ringtones, but I haven't gone that detailed into it.

FYI, There are 3 things that can give you a lot of information about
jaws and keys.
1. Do a insert + 1. That tells you what keys are without activating
them.
2. Insert + h, or w, or f1 twice. Will give help or keys for program.
3. Jaws help does have extended help topics on a lot of functions with

I shut down Outlook and turned it back on. That didn't help. Jaws
doesn't let me turn it all the way off. What happens when I exit is that
it gets very slow but doesn't turn off completely. However, I did do
that and then turn it on again and it's back to its normal speed. But
that didn't help either.

Hello there;
1, did you close outlook and restart it again?
2, did you unload jaws and restart the program again?
These are good things to try before trying to make other changes.

Normally, I can tab to get from a list view to the list of folders. I
have Outlook 2003, Win7, and IE9, Jaws 13.7. Tab isn't working. I need
to be able to get to a "to miriam" folder" as well as some other folders
where emails are stored but I can't get out of this list view. Any
suggestions?

Re: [JAWS-Users] want to change my default search program in IE9

2012-02-14 Thread inthane

you will need to remove the bing tool bar

another MS infection level add in that Microsoft demands you have even if it
doesn't work well!

I used the windows clean up tool and then went through and hand deleted the
leftovers of this thing to get rid of it finally.

Chris,
Google is in the home page field in the general tab of internet options.
However conduit still comes up when I open IE9. Google is there on
another tab but when I open IE9 the focus is on conduit search, which
seems to also be called Bing. How can I get rid of conduit?

you could enter Google's address in the home page field.
That's all I do, so it comes up when I open IE 9.

they say and will enforce 3 uses if you tend to reload a lot and become a
"suspicious user" by majorly frequent renewals of your ILS authorizations!
but if your a moderate user and can get your comps to cooperate and run for
a while without major troubles, you can run a few extra's without them
getting annoyed.

I asked a a tech support person and a sails rep about this once in the past,
letting him know that I had five computers I was responsible for, and he
said what I just conveyed above, its excessive key requests (in there
opinion) and multiple URL's on those requests that will trigger an ill
response from them (at least so far in my case with jaws pro).

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook XP Brain-fade

2012-02-14 Thread CrisMuñoz54
I did this by creating a message rule specifying that all emails sent to x
email address be sent to x folder. I did this for a couple of different
accounts and folders I created for those particular accounts.
In my case, I also assigned different wav sound clips for different email
addresses so that I wasn't always checking my computer as I belong to quite
a few mailing lists and can get easily over 200 messages a day. Depending on
sounds x y or z, I know if it's a message sent to my personal account, one
of my business ones or a mailing list email in which case, I know can wait
to be read later. I suppose you can also assign different notification
sounds for particular recipients like ringtones, but I haven't gone that
detailed into it.

For what it is worth, I simply use the cut & paste rather
than drag & drop. Maybe current version works better but
previous versions always seemed to give folks trouble with
this. Many list members, myself included, find cut & paste
more effective. Just my two cents

FYI, There are 3 things that can give you a lot of
information about
jaws and keys.

1. Do a insert + 1. That tells you what keys are without
activating them.
2. Insert + h, or w, or f1 twice. Will give help or keys for
program.
3. Jaws help does have extended help topics on a lot of
functions
with jaws and other programs.
