I use to send verizon clients to it so they could switch everything to

I'm just wondering if anyone has ever tried to use TrueSwitch with Jaws?

2012-02-21 Thread Flor Lynch
If you are using a later version of internet Explorer, you are allowed
to have more than one home page. In this context each page is known as a
tab, thus, if you have enabled tabbed browsing - the default, i
believe - you will or may have many home tabs (thus, a multi-tabbed home
page). Press ctrl with one of the numbers 1-8 to see if you have more
than one page listed on your home page. when you want to add a new page,
type in its full address, perhapps at the top of the edit field in that
dialogue, , or make a new line then type it in. OK your change when
you're satisfied.

Hi All,

I am running Widows7 64 Bit Pro & Jaws13.0.638. Would someone please
post
the keystrokes for navigating PDF files, & reading page numbers for
Adobe
  X
latest? For some reason the keystrokes that are in the view menu of
Adobe
don't work & the read page keystroke, control, shift, + N, doesn't give
correct current page numbers. I have played with the settings in the
view
menu & in quick settings but, I can't get the keystroke, Insert + page
  down,
to announce the current page number, or control + page up or page down
to
  go
forward / go back a page. Also, if someone would suggest settings that
  are
working for them, I would appreciate it very much. Thanks much, take
  care.

Howdy Jim,

Try the steps below;
the latest version is Adobe Reader X.

You need to disable protected view first to get it to work well with Jaws.

 Do the following:

 1. From either your desktop or start menu, press enter on Adobe. The Adobe
window is now open, press control + K, to open preferences. Another way to
get to preferences is after pressing enter on the Adobe shortcut, press Alt
+ E, for the edit menu, arrow up to preferences, & press enter.

3. When preferences opens you will be in a tree view and should be on the
General page, if not arrow up or down until you have General highlighted.
It
is #4 of 29. Tab until you find a checkbox called enable protected mode at
startup, uncheck it, choose yes on the warning you will get to continue.

You need to look at 2 more settings so, tab until you have General
highlighted again.

4. With General highlighted, press the letter I, until you have Internet
highlighted.

5. Tab to, Display PDF in browser, if this box is checked press the spacebar
to uncheck it.

6. Tab to connection speed combobox, arrow up / down for the setting that
best matches your Internet Providers speed.

7. Tab to the okay button, press enter to close preferences & save your
changes, & press Alt + F4 to close Adobe.

If I have missed something or if there is something that should be added,
would someone please jump in & correct me?!

Hope this helps. Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws slower in responding with imap accounts than pop with Outlook 2010?

2012-02-21 Thread CM54
Yes, thank you. I am fully aware of how both pop and imap work.
As this was my first time setting up the imap on my new machine, I was
unsure as to why the quite noticeable delay with Jaws speech was occurring.
I'll play with the header settings and whatnot and see if that helps at all.
It works perfectly fine on my iPhone. Just Jaws seems to slow down.

Post Office Protocol (POP3) has a much simpler interface with your email
server on the web than Interactive Mail Access Access Protocol (IMAP).
POP3 just retreives everything in your Inbox on the server at regular
intervals. By default, it then deletes the messages from the Invox on the
server. The message is only on your PC at this point.

IMAP synchronizes folders on your email server with the folders on your PC
email client. The messages remain on the server until they are deleted.
This is what makes IMAP better for use when reading email from different
computers and devices. Each device is synchronized to have the latest, will
not miss messages read on another device, or need to delete the same
messages on different devices. These are problems you will likely encounter
reading POP3 email on a computer and a smart phone. IMAP synchronizes
several folders, like Drafts, Sent Mail, Junk Mail, and Trash. It might
also synchronize other archive or labels in Gmail. If it is working slower
than expected, perhaps it is synchronizing more folders or details than
necessary for you. Most clients have ways, usually through using the

[JAWS-Users] Contacts List

2012-02-21 Thread Fred Adams
I am using windows 7 and jaws 13.0 and outlook 2010 for e-mail. When I
try to forward an e-mail message jaws tells me to check contact list and
then trys to add and additional e-mail address. Jaws always tries to add
the same additional e-mail address. How can I tell jaws not to add the
additional e-mail address. This only happens if I am forwarding a
message. Thanks much

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws slower in responding with imap accounts than pop with Outlook 2010?

2012-02-21 Thread Øyvind Lode
Outlook is a great e-mail client.
I'm using Outlook 2010 with my Exchange e-mail account and it's very snappy.
However, in the past I've used Outlook with Gmail IMAP and it's horribly slow.
In my opinion it's useless so I gave up.

You can improve performance a bit by only sync headers.

There are more tricks to improve performance but I can't remember them from the
top of my head.

Do a google search for "outlook imap performance" and you'll probably find the
articles discussing this exact problem and how to improve it.

PS: the performance issues is not JAWS related at all.

Pop deleting messages from the server, is an option. You can unchecked it in

Most clients have ways, usually through using the
Applications key on the folder, to set which folders should be synchronized,
or hidden. It is also possible to indicate that for this folder, just
synchronize the headers rather than the entire messages. Reducing the
amount of work the client needs to perform to keep up with your email will
make it snappier!

Re: [JAWS-Users] Can't read Word docs in 2003

2012-02-21 Thread Dave Maynard
Ann, Flor &elf

Thanks to all of you the problem is solved. I am not sure exactly what
fixed it, but I will explain what I did by making notes within your
instructions. Your instructions will be followed by my comments starting
***DCM. Thanks to all.

Dave

Flor :
Another thing you might put on the list is, that the Normal.dot (Word
Template) file might have become corrupted. In that case, deleting the
normal.dot file (with Microsoft Word closed) will fix it, as the next
time you open word it will replace with a fresh normal.dot .

***DCM - I did that first.

Elf:
one thing I would do is go to the start menu shortcuts, hit the apps key on

the application link, open the properties dialog, and in the box where it
says run: combo box arrow down to "maximized" and try opening it and
reading something this way.
***DCM This was the second thing I did. I then restarted the computer and
opened a document. For the first time I was able to get to the menus with
the PC cursor. I did Ann's checklist including switching from Print mode
to normal.

Ann:
I'm guessing you have tried everything on the list, but just in case ...

1. Is the application maximized?
***DCM Yes

2. Is the document maximized?
***DCM Yes

3. Is the zoom set to 75% or thereabouts?
***DCM Yes

4. is the font a reasonable size?
***DCM Times New Roman 12

5. Is the font something JAWS can read easily?
***DCM Times New Roman 12

6. What does the status line say?
***DCM Didn't look, it was working.

7 If you select-all, copy, paste the document into either Wordpad,
Notepad, or into Word, can you then read it?
***DCM Didn't have to, it was working.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws slower in responding with imap accounts than pop with Outlook 2010?

2012-02-21 Thread CM54
Hello list,

I've been working with Outlook 2010 and have set up a few email accounts.
One thing I'm noticing though, is that jaws is noticeably slower when
working with my imap emails as opposed to the ones I have set up as pop.
With the pop emails, when I press the delete button or arrow through the
list view of messages, Jaws works fine and as it always done, but when
working with the imap messages and again, deleting or arrowing through them,
Jaws gets sluggish and speech is delayed or I sometimes have to just press
the say line command to get Jaws to speak the next message's information. I
am using the latest JFW 13 release and am working with Outlook 2010 on a
Win7 Dell. The only difference between these email accounts is the pop and
imap configuration.
Are others experiencing this issue or might they have an idea of how to
better improve the JFW slow performance?

Thanks,

As a rule of thumb, don't use shift+tab in these dialogues. Shift+tab

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Adobe Reader 11 update

Dear Friends,
When I turned my computer on this morning, that pesky Adobe update thing
came on.

I know this has been covered before, but I forgot.

JAWS can only read:

Button

Button

I

I first clicked on the I and then the Buttons went away.

I do not know if the update installed or not.

How can I handle this?

The icon on my Desk Top still says

Adobe X

Thanks for your help.

Alan

Hello there;

Regarding your focus issue,
Are you using a laptop?
If so, you may want to disable the mouse pad/touch pad.
This will solve the problem of
Losing focus, and,
Taken out of your email message.

When I got my win7 computer, we put Outlook 2003 on it for my email program
because I'd been hearing so many complaints about live mail. But I find it
to be very cumbersome. I'm accustomed to Outlook Express and Outlook seems
much clunkier, somehow. Also, the focus keeps shifting. I can respond to an
email and find my focus moved to My Documents if it's opened or I can close
an email and find myself at "shut down computer". I have the latest upgrade
for jaws 13, and I have IE9, also magic, very enlarged. I'm wondering how
people are feeling about windows live mail these days. Is it still difficult
to use with jaws? Is it still unstable? Is it a more efficient email program
than Outlook 2003?

Check your jaws help, because that is all there is beside out dated
stuff like that book.

Hi,

I was looking through my emails and I can't seem to find the info someone
posted about scrips and how the everything there is to learn about scripting
was a good book for one to start with but provided a link for updated stuff?

Can someone post something that would be more up-to-date as it relates to
learning about scrips and how to do them?

Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] using TrueSwitch to import or export email accounts with Jaws

I use to send verizon clients to it so they could switch everything
to verizon. Not sure if it does web mail to web mail sense that is
what both are.

hi guys, I've just recently created a new email account with yahoo

gmail account to my new yahoo account. Now I heard that there is a
tool out there that is called TrueSwitch that will enable you to
transfer your email messages from one email account to another account.
I'm just wondering if anyone has ever tried to use TrueSwitch with
Jaws? and is it accessible with it?
I'd be greatful if somebody could get back to me about this. Thank
you for your time.
