[JAWS-Users] Remapping JAWS Keys
Hi friends, I need to try to re-map the instert+f11 key to bring up the system tray, can anyone give me tips on the best way to do this please? On my laptop, the f1 to f12 keys have special functions and until I can access the BIOS to turn this off, the keyboard is instert+fn+f11 which is really awkward :-) Any help much appreciated! -Original Message- From: jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Rick Justice Sent: 11 April 2012 12:18 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] question how to import favorites from windows xp towindows 7? The Hard Drive Controller is just about manageable as I know most of my music and in many cases I just have to type a particular search string and I know it will find the track I need, I can then quickly check that I am on the right track by using headphones. Problem is I don't always know if I have the track and also if I do have it it could be a fair way down a specific folder.[you can only search the first path and then its manual using a viewing window] i.e. Walk of Life would be a fair way down the Dire Straits folder. I am able to search for the Dire Straits folder but then there is no facility to do a search string within that folder. This means that sometimes I have to rely on someone being there to tell me what is displayed in the viewing window. I want to try using a laptop to replay some tracks, at the moment I'm not that bothered about using any specialist mixing software although I understand that OTTS DJ is compatible with Jaws. For now I would be quite happy being able to use a standard folder such as My Music and playing directly out from there using Windows Media Player or alike. My mixer has multiple lines so I intend to keep my CD players and the HDC and just use a laptop for when I need to do a search. I need to know if it is possible to keep the JAWS output separate away from the actual music output in order that JAWS is not heard through the PA system.and if so how? I wondered about a multi channel sound card such as a Gigaport or even using the built-in sound card and also another basic sound card as well, one for the music and the other for JAWS, my other concern is could I get a high enough output from JAWS so it can be heard via headphones in a noisy environment. I haven't bought the laptop yet either so if there is a laptop out there that has the facility to do this without any additional sound cards that would be interesting too.
