[JAWS-Users] Remapping JAWS Keys

2012-04-12 Thread Steven Hicks
Hi friends,

I need to try to re-map the instert+f11 key to bring up the system tray, can
anyone give me tips on the best way to do this please?
On my laptop, the f1 to f12 keys have special functions and until I can
access the BIOS to turn this off, the keyboard is instert+fn+f11 which is
really awkward :-)

Any help much appreciated!

Hi Mich,
A simple copy and paste will do what you need.
Copy your favorites to a flash drive, and then plug that drive into the new
machine, then paste them into the Favorites folder on the new machine.

Others have suggested MSE, which is good for anti-virus and anti-spyware,,

It is much easier to simply delete spam then try and find a program that is

hi,

ok what program did you use to try to rip the files off the CD? media
player
usually automatically gets permission to rip a protected disk and if its
set

to save them as mp3 your usually free up after that.

otherwise i would attempt the rip again with CDEX ripper and see if you
keep

having the problem.

I imagine this is so you can rip with media player or some such other
program and then copy the files over using JAWS. The trick is on the side
of
the card where the notch is located you will find a small slider switch
with
your finger nail, push it toward the front of the card where all the
ridges
are located. That should do it as when the switch is pushed back the card
is
locked so to speak.

I am a Wedding DJ and compare and at the moment I use conventional
Pioneer

DJ twin CD players and also a specialist Denon DJ HDC2500 hard drive
controller. The Hard Drive Controller is just about manageable as I know
most of my music and in many cases I just have to type a particular
search

string and I know it will find the track I need, I can then quickly check
that I am on the right track by using headphones. Problem is I don't
always know if I have the track and also if I do have it it could be a
fair
way down a specific folder.[you can only search the first path and then
its

manual using a viewing window] i.e. Walk of Life would be a fair way down
the Dire Straits folder. I am able to search for the Dire Straits folder
but then there is no facility to do a search string within that folder.
This means that sometimes I have to rely on someone being there to tell
me

what is displayed in the viewing window.

I want to try using a laptop to replay some tracks, at the moment I'm
not

that bothered about using any specialist mixing software although I
understand that OTTS DJ is compatible with Jaws. For now I would be
quite

happy being able to use a standard folder such as My Music and playing
directly out from there using Windows Media Player or alike.

My mixer has multiple lines so I intend to keep my CD players and the
HDC

and just use a laptop for when I need to do a search.

I need to know if it is possible to keep the JAWS output separate away
from the actual music output in order that JAWS is not heard through the
PA system.and if so how?

I wondered about a multi channel sound card such as a Gigaport or even
using the built-in sound card and also another basic sound card as well,
one for the music and the other for JAWS, my other concern is could I
get

a high enough output from JAWS so it can be heard via headphones in a
noisy environment. I haven't bought the laptop yet either so if there
is
a laptop out there that has the facility to do this without any
additional

sound cards that would be interesting too.

Many thanks in advance for any help and advice

Again I want to thank you david and also the list for all your excelent
advice about using two sound cards.

After hearing that my Bose USB speaker system was on its own sound card so
to speak.

I used the regular line out of my computer desktop and plugged it into my
bose radio auxiliary plug-in.

I went into the utilities of Jaws and changed my sound card for Jaws to my
HD audio sound card, and left my Bose USB speaker system as my default
sound card.

Now Jaws comes out of the Bose radio and every thing else comes out of my
Bose uSB speaker system.

This is a whole lot better.

Thanks again for all your help.

Its to bad I baught the sound card from Amazon before I figured this out.
Lol

I will send it back or sell it or something.
