Go to the Tools submenu and select Options. Under Composition there are
a couple of options you can uncheck to turn off the spell checker.

[JAWS-Users] Latest update dot and point

2012-04-28 Thread Graham Smith

Hi

Please can anybody confirm if they are having issues with dot and point
announced.

Fore example before this latest version my jaws desktop icon has always
announced jaws 12 point zero, jaws 13 point zero etc. However it now
announces jaws 12 dot zero, jaws 13 dot zero.

I have tried to alter this under customisation but it alters everything, for
example in a document instead of 12 point zero being announced where there
is a period used as the divider between the 12 and the zero it will say dot.
I hope you understand what I mean and can confirm that it is just not me,
sigh.

Graham

Re: [JAWS-Users] Word 2007 hot key for tool menu?

2012-04-28 Thread Ann Marie Medlar

Hi all,
I am using word 2003 and need to know how to instruct same key strokes in
word 2007.

What are hot keys for view and tool menus as instructed below?
thanks,
Ann
CREATING ACCESSIBLE FORMS

You can create accessible forms in MS Word that include edit boxes, combo
boxes and check boxes. Once the form has been created, it can be used over
and over when saved as a blank template.

To begin creating forms, you will need to select the form view in the
toolbar. To do this, do an alt v for view, type the letter t for toolbar
and arrow down to forms and press enter.

In this example we will create a simple survey form using edit, combo and
check boxes. The survey will be for users of adaptive speech and we will
want to find out what speech application a person is using plus what
operating system they are using. The type of form you create is entirely up
to you, the possibilities are unlimited.

At the top of the form you can put any information you want. Such as
contact information, company name etcetera. You can also select the font
style and size or any attributes you want to add to the form. I.e.: bold,
small caps, underline and so on.

Once you have that information the way you want it, create your first edit
field.

Our first one will be the date.

Type in, Date:, and be sure to put a space after the colon.

Next, press your alt key and then do a control shift tab.

This will open your tool bar and you will be placed on an edit button.

Press enter and you will be back in your form.

Next press your left arrow one time and you will be in the edit field.

Now you will want to press your application key and then type the letter r
for properties.

You are placed in a default text edit field.

Tab to, add help text button and press enter.

This will be your status bar tab.

Tab to the edit field and type in: type date here.

Tab to the OK button and press enter. You will be on another OK button so
press enter again.

This will place you back in your form.

Press your end key and it should say, out of field.

You have just created your first edit field.

Press enter and the next field will be name.

Repeat the same process above for the name.

I have DirecTV as well. I use TitanTV.com as a TV guide. It is not
specific to DirecTV. It is geared towards those who use tuner cards and

true HTML table to contain the grid. You will need to start an account
and set up your provider and zip code. It also allows you to select
your favorite channels and preferences. I like to have it show a 6 hour
grid. The new JAWS table navigation feature can be used to move through
the grid using the arrow keys. If you set JAWS to read both column and
row headers, it will announce the channel / time as you move through the
grid.

I have a DirecTV R22 DVR and have written some JAWS Scripts that make
recording to the DVR easy from this grid. Look at

Hi,

It is possible to add other braille displays to JAWS, in addition to the
one you normally use, either via the Add braille Display item in the
Braille... JAWS Options menu or via the Synthesizer braille manager in
the JAWS utility manager. A friend would like to be able to use his pac
mate and his Alva Satellite together, as two displays working with JAWS
at the same time. Is this possible - in practice?

I can see how, in theory, it could be; but JAWS wishes to select one or
the other display in practice, if both are set to be default. (Consider
how one might want the other display, rather as in the manner of an
alternate say-all speech synthesizer, for certain situations or
applications.)

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS and TV guides

2012-04-28 Thread Don Marang
I have had slightly better results using Firefox to set up a channel
lineup. This site often uses controls that do not work exactly like
JAWS expects. Many times, JAWS will indicate it is an edit field. Most
of the time, press Space to get into Forms Mode, then you can arrow up
and down in a pop up list. Hitting Tab or Enter seems to work best to
select the desired item. Custom lineups work the same, but in addition
you can just select your favorite channels from a standard lineup.
Therefore, I first add a lineup for DirecTV - Philly, then add a custom
lineup selecting from that lineup.

After hitting Enter on the Add lineup button, it goes to page 1 of 2
for setup. By selecting the image labeled Satellite, you should not get
Time Warner on the second page where you are taken. The second page
will ask for a zip code. Once entered, a list box of providers will
appear. Press Insert + Escape to make sure the JAWS info is updated.
You should be able to arrow down to other options in your area like
Dish, DirecTV, and C Band.

You will probably want to go to the Manage Channel lineup page to name
this lineup, create one or more custom lineups, and select the default
lineup.

I have DirecTV as well. I use TitanTV.com as a TV guide. It is not
specific to DirecTV. It is geared towards those who use tuner cards and
have PVR software to record shows. It is very customizable and uses a
true HTML table to contain the grid.

Look at
http://www.DonaldMarang.org/DirecTV.html and contact me if interested.

 Hello all,
I am running JAWS13 latest build. Is there a good TV guide for Direct
TV that works well with JAWS?
 Thanks in advance,
