Hi, Someone asked me a question, and I thought someone here would have an

before the start up sounds or JAWS gives the start up prompt.

Does anyone know if this is possible? they are using Windows7 and I think

Now if they mean the boot information. That is not doable.
Now if its a new startup or non speaking log in screen. You can use
narrator. The keys for it is windows key + u, then wait a few seconds
and do a alt + n. This also works on any windows computer vista and up.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS and Acrobat Reader

2012-08-31 Thread tony johnson

Hi Jerry:
I just seen your e mail regarding adobie. I think version 11 is; I'm
currently using 12 on the server, but for the home computer I have 13. All
depending how a PDF is formatted determins how jaws will read it. If the
file is burned to the screen like an image of something, unless you have
version 13 with the OCR feature, it's highly unlikely that this file could
be read. If there is actually text on the screen, then it should  be okay;
I've used PDFs as far back as jaws version 7 when I was in college; a lot of
my books came that way. The only thing is that if it's a huge file as you
probably know, it takes a while for those types to open. It also depends on
the structure lay out as wel. I hope this will give you some insight.

2012-08-31 Thread Rose Combs
Oh trust me, it has been around for a long time, and the automatic lockout
used to be a huge problem for me until someone stopped my computer from
doing that. This was in 2000, worked with it for six months before I asked
to have them fix it because I kept losing work I had been doing after the 3
minute lockout they had, could not get medication info and such that fast.

Thanks to all, I will try the alt+control+delete and then to the lock
button. I knew of this but the windowsKey+l does the same thing but the
longer route may circumvent my problem.
It just puzzles me why jaws loses control of the keyboard when executing the
lock and of course it is intermittent.
The problem became apparent when I upgraded to jaws 13.

This is what I used to do prior to retiring and it always worked well.
In the event one forgot to do this the system administrator also has built
into the network a 15 minute auto lock out should no activity occur at any
particular workstation. Initially, he had it set for 5 minutes but the
employees went nuts!

Try doing a control + alt + delete, and arrow to lock.
I also had to do that when leaving the keyboard. When you come back just hit
any key and you will have the password log in.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws and Internet Explorer 9

2012-08-31 Thread inthaneelf
i think i remember someone else saying that they had such a trouble, but if
you reboot and make sure your running at least jaws 13.0.852
you should have no real troubles, so i think a bit of clearing up on your
machine should get things working.

i jumped from 7 to 9 when i got my new computer and have had little trouble
with it, and most time a housecleaning (emptying the batches of file build
up ) along with clearing out the history and temp files folders usually
clears the troubles up.

HTH,
inthane

Hi,
I have yet another question. I have just upgraded to Internet Explorer 9
and have ran into an issue with Jaws not reading any buttons on any of the
pages I have visited. I am wondering, is that a weird issue with IE 9 and
Jaws or is it just my computer. Thanks Jolynn

[JAWS-Users] identifying colors on webpage

2012-08-31 Thread Tara Kelly
Is there a way to identify font colors on a webpage? For example, if there
is a table and the table items" values are shown by colors, can JAWS
identify these colors? I'm not finding a way to do this. I'm using JAWS 13.

Thank you.

[JAWS-Users] real speak voices from jaws 9 on win7 64 bit?

2012-08-31 Thread adam morris

Hi,

I have the real speak cd that came with jaws 9.

I'm trying to install it under win7 64 bit.

I've run the install as admin and changed the compatibility mode to xp sp2.

It says this program won't run under 64 bit.

I've been told it can be done, ideas?

Re: [JAWS-Users] identifying colors on webpage

2012-08-31 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Tara,

You can try using the color scheme. Use Alt+JAWS key+S when on the web page
and choose the color scheme. You should hear the foreground color and then
the background color announced when they change. You will first hear the
colors and then the text affected by the color change. It seems to work
quite well when using up or down arrow key or when using the SayAll option.
If you use the JAWS key with the number 5 on the keyboard number row you
will hear the foreground and background colors for the current character.
Hold down JAWS key and press number 5 on the number row twice quickly and
you will hear the three digit representation for the red, green and blue
colors in the foreground and background. The first three colors are for red
foreground, the second three digits are for the shade of green, and the
third set of three numbers is for the quality of the blue color. The last
three sets of numbers are for the red, green and blue background colors. In
the RGB values numbers for each of the colors ranges between 0 and 255.
Lower numbers indicate darker shades and higher numbers indicate lighter
shades of color. For example, if you hear 000 000 000 on 255 255 255 you
have you have the darkest black foreground on the brightest white
background.

Take care.

[JAWS-Users] WordPress.com and Jaws?

2012-08-31 Thread J.Cyr
Good day,
I'm looking for some help please! This is the free version, not WordPress.org
which I believe makes a difference. Still I've read in the past that it is
Jaws friendly so there's got to be something I'm not doing since so far its a
Jaws bad dream. I'd like to post on my blog, I've got the basic blog set up
but posting on it is a massive headache! I'm running Jaws 11. If anyone has
suggestions I'd really appreciate them.

Thanks,
Joy
