do you have a site on which you discuss your work, give examples and such?

if you would like to discuss some of this with someone who has an inkling of
what your doing please, contact me off line:

I also have some information on other small and/or budding authors, and a

In addition to the Ctrl Y key stroke (repeat last function) in Excel
which stopped working with the initial release of JAWS 13, the most
recent update now no longer supports the keystroke Ctrl Shift 0 which
unhides columns. I have been working with FS on the Ctrl Y one and it
is still not fixed. Can anyone else use the Ctrl Shift 0 keystroke
with Win 7, Home Premium 64 bit?

Re: [JAWS-Users] CD/DVD burning programs?

2012-09-06 Thread inthaneelf
ok, as best i can, a .dot iso file is a disk burning image, it has all the
information but is structured like a disk burn pattern

it became somewhat popular when folks learned (and programs came out for
this) that one could mount the image, which turned it into a virtual image
drive, of the media on it so it became like the burned disk in the drive so
one could access the information on it.

another point on .iso files there used quite often for production of disks,
if i wanted to save an image of a file to burn over and over again, and yet
still have it modifiable i would save it as a dot iso file

hope this clears it up some for you, if not ask away, I'll keep hacking at
it until you get the answer you need.

take care,
inthane

Man, how frequent is this becoming? Jaws stuttered and would not
cooperate when I was trying to alt tab to a website. I had to hold the
power button to switch the laptop off and wait for a few seconds, then
push it back on again. I hate this so much I am seriously thinking
of down grading back to 11. This is becoming ridiculous. Wonder
whether a jaws repair will work?

To receive mail as text, go to the office menu, options, email. To send as
text, office, options, trust center, trust center settings.

I'm doing it from memory, but that's pretty stinkin' close if not exactly

Re: [JAWS-Users] FS cast

2012-09-06 Thread Rose Combs
My question is with all these new commands, will those of us who don't plan
to migrate to 8 just yet still be able to use what we know or will the new
command structure affect us also?

I ask because at work I am supposed to get 13 in the next few months and
they won't change once that is installed for several years. If 14 runs with
7 and I assume it will, and I have it and later versions on my home computer
will I be constantly having to readjust from one system to the next.

Part of the problem here is that someone had to script a lot to make the
programs I now use work for me and will not want to script for 14 even if I
were to insist and the hospital is paying for his expertise. I only hope he
allows me to completely turn off help messages once I am familiar with what
we have in 13 as I can't do it now, have tried by changing verbosity to
advanced and still I keep hearing "for help press jaws key F1..." and after
four years of that 40 hours a week I am heartily sick of it. If I were
brave, and I am not, I'd open up the scripts and put apostrophes in front of
those lines. However, this was a huge project several years ago and I have
not wanted to get inside there.

Word is my Word processor and there were no scripts needed there but the
rest of the program does not seem to work well and in many places at all
without the bundle.

I can modify a script, even write a small one but would never tackle
anything of the magnitude we are discussing here.

David,

I kind of got the impression from Eric's description, that Window's 8 was
laid out much like the i Phone screen is, what is your take on that, since
you too use one?

Also, the Samantha voice very closely resembles Siri to me anyways.

This is going to be one of FS's challenges going forward. Windows dropped the
ball on not making their mobile platform accessible and with the trend of touch
screen devices, other accessible solutions are way ahead. I'd like to see
Windows based devices be it phones or tablets have accessibility, with what
would the additional cost entail? Whose going to shell out an extra chunk of
change for accessibility when the i-devices have it incorperated at no extra
charge? Even Code Factory's Mobile Accessibility for Android isn't "esential"
to having a decent Android tablet experience. One can only assume too that
going forward, accessibility will just get better on these platforms.

I'm sure FS has thought of all this and it would only make sense that they're
coming up with ways to adapt and try to tap into this market. If they're able
to somehow bridge an accessible tablet experience with real substantive
accessibility for Microsoft's Office programs and other nuts and bolts type of
stufffor people who would like to use these devices for work and not just
recreational use, then maybe something like that could gain real traction.

It's all speculation anyway until Windows based tablets start hitting the
markets and we see what if any accessibility is included.

Hi.
I wouldn't by it for android either.
I have an android phone and it's completely accessible with the built in
screen reader.
It also doesn't have a keyboard, its all touch just like the iPhone.

I think Microsoft is going to put narrator on the tablets and phones.
You can't put jaws on the phone anyway.

David,

I kind of got the impression from Eric's description, that Window's 8 was
laid out much like the i Phone screen is, what is your take on that, since
you too use one?

Also, the Samantha voice very closely resembles Siri to me anyways.

Hi.
I think windows 8 has a built in mail client but I don't know how accessible
it's going to be.
As for windows 7 you have a couple of options.
If you buy Microsoft office you can use outlook.
That is what I use.
There are also a couple of others like thunderbird or windows live mail.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 14 and touch screen devices

2012-09-06 Thread Norman King
Hi.
I wouldn't by it for android either.
I have an android phone and it's completely accessible with the built in screen
reader.
It also doesn't have a keyboard, its all touch just like the iPhone.

You mean that still happens? I had that at work whenever the computer locked

about 2000. Long time for that to be cured or rather not cured.

At work we are requested to lock our computers when not at the keyboard.
The key stroke I use is windowsKey+l.
I am running jaws 13 latest build and xp service pack 3.

When I envoke the WindowsKey+l it is not only locking my computer but it is
also freezing my keyboard. It looks like as though jaws loses the keymap files
so the keyboard does nothing and I have to do a hard reboot. It is
intermittent and I haven't identify anything that would cause it to do so.
Has anyone else experienced this and have you found a resolution?
Thanks

Re: [JAWS-Users] FS cast

2012-09-06 Thread Trish
David,

I kind of got the impression from Eric's description, that Window's 8 was
laid out much like the i Phone screen is, what is your take on that, since
you too use one?

Also, the Samantha voice very closely resembles Siri to me anyways.
