hello Jim; the easiest way is, 1, in windows live mail, you need to export your contacts as a CSVFile, once this is complete, you then can go to outlook and import from the CSV file you just created. hope this helps. if you need more help, just shout. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of jim rawls Sent: Wednesday, November 7, 2012 6:18 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] An outlook 2007 problem. Re: [JAWS-Users] Help with links on bank site
This may or may not be related to issues with online banking sites that people have mentioned, but I'll mention it here anyway just to muddy up the waters. A couple of weeks ago, I suddenly could not log into a critical web site here at work. I had just received a bunch of Microsoft updates the previous night. I restored my system to just before the updates were installed, and I suddenly could again log into that critical site. I started adding updates back, one at a time, and testing my ability to log into that site. I eventually found the culprit, Update KB2661254 Minimum key length for certificates. This update altered the behavior of Internet Explorer on web sites that used a certificate with a key length of less than 1024 bits. Essentially, it won't work. I had to uninstall KB2661254 and all is happy now. This update did not effect the way that FireFox interacted with these web sites. This is definitely not Al's problem as he said that when his wife clicked on the link, it worked. -- Blue skies. Dan Rossi Senior Oracle Database Administrator Carnegie Mellon University. [JAWS-Users] JAWS and the internet
Hi all, Yesterday I mentioned in a post that I have noticed increased JAWS instability in recent versions. Now that I think about it, most of that instability occurs when surfing the web. When I say instability, I mostly am referring to JAWS losing focus and not easily getting it back as well as occasionally crashing. I am using IE9 on a Windows 7 machine. I'm not sure if this is a JAWS issue or a IE issue or a issue with how JAWS interacts with IE. I wonder if I would have better stability with Fire Fox. Also, I believe that someone on the list recently mentioned that they have better luck with stability with IE 64 bit. I would like to hear thoughts and suggestions please. Re: [JAWS-Users] Help with links on bank site
Dan and others, I appreciate everyone's suggestions etc. This is some new glitch Dan has stumbled on and sounds very complicated. More info on my particular situation and it is not good in my opinion. I had Terrie sit down with me to look at this site again. The way I think the page is laid out the way JAWS reads it is way off. After I log in to my CU site I arrow down and JAWS says there is a list of 6 items. If I continue arrowing down it says bullet then announces the link name. It does this for each of the 6 items. I am thinking this is a vertical list with each link preceded by a bullet. JAWS also says mouse over which always bothers me as I know it gets more complicated. Anyway, Terrie describes something totally different. She says these six elements resemble more of a ribbon type setup. It is in fact a horizontal line across the top of the screen. She says there are no bullets and they do not appear has hyperlinks. What confuses me is if I bring up the links list with JAWS key and F7 they are listed and if I tab to go to link it will take me right to it. Anyway, getting back to what they look like as she takes the mouse and hovers over each of the six elements a drop down type box appears with subsequent choices for each item. It is this choices that need to be clicked on with the mouse. None of these choices are available or visible until you hover the mouse over them. Seems I remember something a long time ago about a JAWS command to go to another place when JAWS announces mouse over. Anyway if I route JAWS to PC cursor and then arrow down I occasionally can hear a couple of the choices and if lucky using the num pad key command for mouse activation I can get to another screen but not with any type consistency So, with this additional info any suggestions? This can be very convenient, since it can always be available if you check the Reconnect at login. However the performance is very slow. Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws friendly FTP client with special features
By secure ftp servers, are you just talking about username and password or something more like gpg keys? The Windows Explorer map wizard has a place to provide a username during the set-up. The first time the drive letter is accessed it asks for the password. This dialog also has a checkbox for Windows to remember the password. Although convenient and free, this method is very slow performing transfers. I have also noticed if I upload files to my web server, it may take hours for it to be viewed by Internet Explorer! I primarily use the free filezilla ftp client. The uploads are faster and and can be viewed almost instantly. *Don Marang* Vinux Package Development Coordinator - vinuxproject.org http://www.vinuxproject.org/ On 11/7/2012 3:14 PM, Boston, Jason (RIS-OKC) wrote: I think this method of connecting via windows explorer doesn't work on a secure ftp site. Select Map... from the Tools menu of Windows Explorer. Then Tab to the Connect to a Web Server and store documents and pictures link, and follow the prompts in the wizard. This can be very convenient, since it can always be available if you check the Reconnect at login. However the performance is very slow. Filezilla works well as long as you place the remote and local folders panes to the proper locations and use the applications key. For instance, select a folder or files in the local folder pane and press the applications key. Then select upload. *Don Marang* Vinux Package Development Coordinator - vinuxproject.org http://www.vinuxproject.org/ On 9/13/2012 8:58 AM, Boston, Jason (RIS-OKC) wrote: Hello all, I use FileZilla at work and my sighted co-workers can drag and drop files from windows explorer to the desired folder on the FTP server via File Zilla. No, it's a protocol you have to select when setting up the connection in a FTP client like filezilla ftp I use this same FTP client at work, I just don't like the fact I can't copy and paste things from explorer directly into the destination path even though sighted people can drag and drop files from explorer into the target folder. [JAWS-Users] How to uninstall previous JAWS versions using the run command line
Win7, JFW14. For some strange reason which I'm not asking to solve here, when I go to 'all programs' then Jaws 13 and open it there is no uninstall item to click. In fact compared to my other Win7 PC, there are very few entries there on this second Win7 laptop of mine. Jaws runs just fine though. Anyway, That is not the problem I'm asking for advice on here. My only choice seems to be uninstalling JFW13 using the run command. windows key then type run in the search edit field and then type some command there to uninstall JAWS13 only without effecting JAWS14. Al, Try moving to the link concerned, where JAWS says Mouseover. Hold down CTRL and JAWS Key and press the Enter key. You should hear JAWS say Change at line XX, where XX is a number. Now, using Quick Navigation, press the letter J. JAWS will say Jump to line. Type in the number, from XX above and press Enter again. A list of items should now appear and you can arrow up or down, to select the one you need. The CTRL + JAWS Key + Enter simulates hovering over the item with the mouse. My question is probably been asked before. In itunes, the keyboard shortcut for rewinding and fast forwarding are control+alt+left arrow and control+alt+right arrow.
