Subject: [JAWS-Users] two issues with the latest update.

Hi all,

running win7 64 home premium with professional jfw.

two issues I've found.

These are both after restarting the pc after the update was installed
successfully.

1. you are unable to use insert f11 to get to the system tray, it just
doesn't open the list of items.

2. I have a htm file with all my contacts, if i use an insert f to find a
contact the dialogue doesn't open.

Both these things were working yesterday before installing the new update.

I haven't installed any new software prior to update.

I am running as administrator when installing update.

I installed I tunes 11 and brought up a bunch of single tracks in the store.
You see the songs but the button to hear them is missing or removed has
anyone have any idea where the button went to. I realize below the list are
buttons one and going forward. But it would be a pain to go back and fourth.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Ribbons

2012-12-06 Thread Phil Halton
I am using office2010 (word and excel) The ribbons are easily navigated with
the JAWS virtual ribbons feature. Even without Virtual ribbons turned on,
the ribbons are no great problem. I would recommend however, that you take
the free jaws training webinar on virtual ribbons, and also the free webinar
on office2010 interface - it'll help get you over the hump learning this new
interface.

To find these free webinars, from the JAWS main window, goto help/web
resources/training headquarters.

There's alot of great training material on there. The paid webinar for
word2010 is also well worth the money.

I have not upgraded to Jaws 14 yet and I've been using a very old version
of
Word, 2003, I think. I do have this Win7 computer. This old version of
word
needs to be replaced because it is not saving properly and it's losing
data

in documents. I'm not sure which version uses Ribbons. But my question is,
are a lot of you using Virtual Ribbons and is that helpful?

It was my understanding that the following message in outlook 2007 could be

This message was converted to plain text. I was told that the new update to
jaws 14 released today would eliminate that message if I know how to do it.
So. does it do that, and if so, how to eliminate that message? I'm running
windows 7, jaws 14 latest update on a 64 bit machine. Jim

If your version of jaws is reading it correctly, and I didn't do
anything too odd by turning on the menus in itunes, you should be able
to tab through all the radio buttons until you hear one that says radio,
hit space bar on it and keep on tabbing to the stations.

I just downloaded Itunes 11.0 and cannot find the radio station group

anyone know if it is still available in Itunes 11 and if so how can Jaws

Thanks for any help.

No its f6 and shift f6 to move around the screen options.

I have just been on itunes again and gone straight to the book section in
the store. It like the music, worked really well I was listening to clips
from any book any author, etc.

Sorry I am not a good typer but the link to look for is browse. So perhaps
if you click on music and then insert f7 for list of links and find browse,
from here you really have to start looking, the trick is to arrow down
because very often you land in a list without anything being announced but
once you find these lists you can tab and shift tab between them selecting
your options. I believe I heard the word alternative, if you hear this
arrow down, you will get the idea. once you have arrowed to your artist and
then album and then song just hit enter on the song and it will play,
spacebaar to stop it.

When I am not in the store I am using the keystroke control s to find menu
for music, apps, books, store etc, not sure how this will work if it is
removed as has been mentioned.

Well, I tried, guesss you are even more confused now, smile. but seriously
it works far better for me thant the older version of itunes.

good luck

Graham

what egzactly you did in various commands to get what results?

Did you perhaps mean to say Insert F7 as aposed to Shift F7?

Yes, I was sampling songs for about an hour last night.

I use jaws 14 and latest version of itunes 11.

I was using no scripts and was really impressed with the new way of browsing
the store music.

It takes a bit of working outt but once you get it it works really well.

For me there is a lot of use of the f6 and shift f7, tab key and left and
right arrows. Patience is required in letting screens load. So go to the
store select music and then look for the browse link and then start choosing
your options. Remember be patient and and use first letter navigation in the
lists.

2012-12-06 Thread Miriam Vieni
I had problems with Word 2003 on my XP computer. I have a sighted computer
person who transferred all my stuff to the WIN7 computer last December. I
thought the Word problem would disappear on the new computer, but it didn't.
It's hard to describe but occasionally, when I try to close a document, it
won't close. It tells me that it's still open somewhere else even when I
have a document that hasn't been saved and I just want to close it. It tells
me that it wants to rename the document as "normal" and if I won't do that,
it asks me if I want to change the universal template. If I say "no", I can
close the document. But if I'm trying to save a document and Word decides to
do this, then I lose the document.

Connect your phone to the PC. On the PC side, you can copy songs using the
standard control-C command and then navigate to your phone in the sources list.
Then arrow down once or twice and you'll see the music folder on your phone.
Just paste them there. Not in iTunes right now, so hope I'm remembering enough
to get you started. I'll check when I next sync. If this is not correct, please
yell back and I'll re-check.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 14 and iTunes...totally stumped on Adding Music to
my iPhone

Hi, all.
Well, the subject line pretty much says it all. I can do pretty much everything
else in iTunes with JF W and the blindtunes scripts, but unless I am missing
something, seem to be unable to drag music over to my iPhone 4S.

Because my library is nearly 2 TB, and my phone it self is only a 16 GB, with
10.6 GB free, obviously, I do not want it to automatically sync. So, what I
have done, and this could be where I am going wrong, is set it for me to add
music manually. Then, I selected the songs I want, Which seems to work fine.
After selecting a group of songs, and I have tried this with several different
groups of songs, I hit control shift D to drag. It asks me to select my
destination, so I then select my iPhone from the source sidebar. I hit inter-as
instructed, it says "please wait". That message stays up for about two seconds,
and then tells me to go back to the original location, and hit enter there. I
do that. However, no music appears on my phone. I have tried this with both
some single tracks, as well as a 42 track selection from the band Shinedown.

So, is this a problem with blindtunes, or what? Or, do I have a setting wrong
somewhere or am I missing a step? I do have an iPhone guide that was put out by
a couple of people in 2010… But it doesn't quite seem to give the information
that I need. That was long before the four or the for S came out also, as a
just in case move, I did select music under my iPhone at one time and try
dragging the music from the computer there. That also did not work.

I've had no other trouble with iTunes and JAWS working together. It's only in
the department of moving music to my phone. Any help would be appreciated,
especially since I am going on a trip over the weekend, and may not have
service and some areas and would like some music to listen to. LOL

For the record, most of this stuff is in the MP3 format as it's stuff I've
ripped from my own collection or bought off of a non-iTunes source. Mostly
stuff I ripped from my own CD collection.

Wes

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 14 December Update is now available

2012-12-06 Thread Nancy Feldman
JAWS 14 also comes up strange for me. When I told it to live in the Task
Tray, and then hit Insert-J to bring up the JAWS menu, my arrow keys
wouldn't work in that menu. I'd press an arrow and nothing would happen. I
could force an option to be clicked by dragging the JAWS cursor around, but
then once I got into the dialog boxes, such as for Basic Settings or Speech
settings, JAWS took several seconds to respond to the press of the Tab key,
and didn't announce the options I tabbed to if I moved at all. I did verify
that it behaves the same way even if it doesn't stay in the task tray.

I've gone back to JAWS 13.

I am using Windows 7 64-bit.

[JAWS-Users] USB Soundcard, Jaws Not Working After Starting PC

2012-12-06 Thread Mike B.
Hi All,

I have Jaws assigned to a USB soundcard & SoundBlaster is my default for all
other sounds. When I start my computer in the morning or reboot the
computer during the day for whatever reason, when the computer starts Jaws
is no longer assigned to the USB soundcard, it comes through the
SoundBlaster soundcard. Each soundcard runs through its own set of
speakers. I have to go into the Jaws context menu / Utilities / Soundcard
sub-menues, & press enter on the USB soundcard option to reassign Jaws to
that soundcard. How do I keep Jaws assigned to use the USB soundcard so I
don't have to reassign it every time I start / reboot the computer? I'm
running XP Home & Jaws 13 on this computer. All help will be greatly
appreciated. Thank you very much for any & all help.

Take care.

You know, I have not. That is actually what I'm trying as soon as this JAWS 14
update installs. Admittedly, I thought of that, but then said to myself "iTunes
is an Apple product. No way it's going to be that simple." Ha ha… I'll let you
guys know if that works.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 14 and iTunes...totally stumped on Adding Musicto
my iPhone

Hi, all.
Well, the subject line pretty much says it all. I can do pretty much
everything else in iTunes with JF W and the blindtunes scripts, but unless
I am missing something, seem to be unable to drag music over to my iPhone
4S.

Because my library is nearly 2 TB, and my phone it self is only a 16 GB,
with 10.6 GB free, obviously, I do not want it to automatically sync. So,
what I have done, and this could be where I am going wrong, is set it for
me to add music manually. Then, I selected the songs I want, Which seems
to work fine. After selecting a group of songs, and I have tried this with
several different groups of songs, I hit control shift D to drag. It asks
me to select my destination, so I then select my iPhone from the source
sidebar. I hit inter-as instructed, it says "please wait". That message
stays up for about two seconds, and then tells me to go back to the
original location, and hit enter there. I do that. However, no music
appears on my phone. I have tried this with both some single tracks, as
well as a 42 track selection from the band Shinedown.

So, is this a problem with blindtunes, or what? Or, do I have a setting
wrong somewhere or am I missing a step? I do have an iPhone guide that was
put out by a couple of people in 2010… But it doesn't quite seem to give
the information that I need. That was long before the four or the for S
came out also, as a just in case move, I did select music under my iPhone
at one time and try dragging the music from the computer there. That also
did not work.

I've had no other trouble with iTunes and JAWS working together. It's only
in the department of moving music to my phone. Any help would be
appreciated, especially since I am going on a trip over the weekend, and
may not have service and some areas and would like some music to listen
to. LOL

For the record, most of this stuff is in the MP3 format as it's stuff I've
ripped from my own collection or bought off of a non-iTunes source. Mostly
stuff I ripped from my own CD collection.

[JAWS-Users] re-sampling songs with itunes

2012-12-06 Thread jim
Hi again, here are the steps on previewing songs in itunes 11, thanks to Graham.

Press control+s, brings up the tree view.
Arrow down to itunes store, give it a few seconds to update.
Press the letter h, for heading, 8 times until you get to the heading, quick
links.
Press the downarrow 16 times until you get to the browse link, or press
insert+f7 to bring up links list at that point and press the letter b for
browse.
Now you if you are looking for music, downarrow in this list box to music.
Now tab and you are in a list box of different kinds of music, now downarrow to
the kind you want to see.
Now tab again to the next list box, if you chose country in the last list, now
you can choose what kind of country you want to look at.
Now tab again to the artest list and use first letter navigation or just press
the downarrow to the artest that you wish to look at.
Now tab again to the album list, again use the first letter or just downarrow
to the album that you want to hear.
Now tab again to the song list, press enter or spacebar to start the preview of
the song, press spacebar to stop.
You can shift tab at any time to change the different list of options, this is
a great and fast way to search through and preview all of your favorite kinds
of music and your favorite artist.
if you want to buy a certain song while in the list of songs, press the
applications key and arrow down to buy song.
the only thing I have not yet figured out is how to buy the album from this
list.
What you can do is copy the name of the album and paiste it into itunes store
search edit and go to the buy album button on the page, for that album.
I hope this has helped to clearify how to browse in itunes 11, thank you again
Graham...

Re: [JAWS-Users] mouse over how to

2012-12-06 Thread Angel
I had a similar problem. There is a web site on which I wanted to create
an account. I was told to hover my mouse over a spot which Jaws announced
was a mouse over section. I forgot the key stroke to accomplish this using
Jaws 10. So, I called Jaws technical support to provide for me the answer.
When I activated the mouse over section, I was unable to cause it to be
sufficiently active to create the account. I was told by Jaws "no change".
Or something to that effect. I had to have my daughter create for me the
account.

How does one make Jaws hover over a link to open it, my employee
self-serve

page has one and I can't access it, it is called myself and so far, I have
to get someone to come mouse it for me, not particularly what I'd like to
do

since some personal information is supposed to be stored there. Is this a
mouse-over even if it isn't announced as such?

Also using Jaws 9 at work.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS 14 and iTunes...totally stumped on Adding Music to my iPhone

2012-12-06 Thread Wes Derby

Wes

Hi Damien,

You can get Internet Explorer 8 from the below Send Space link.

I uploaded it for a friend some time ago, but never took it down, so I guess
it's sort of fortuitous for you. LOL.

Anyway, here's the link:

Let me know if you have any questions.

Can you turn on the jaws cursor and find the link that way? If you can locate
it with the jaws cursor you could try clicking it.

How does one make Jaws hover over a link to open it, my employee self-serve
page has one and I can't access it, it is called myself and so far, I have to
get someone to come mouse it for me, not particularly what I'd like to do since
some personal information is supposed to be stored there. Is this a mouse-over
even if it isn't announced as such?

Also using Jaws 9 at work.

[JAWS-Users] IE8.exe file.

2012-12-06 Thread Damien O'Connor
Hi everyone.

I'm using jaws 11 on a windows 7 32 bit machine and IE9, but, want to go
back to IE8. When I uninstall the ie update in programmes, it doesn't go
back to ie8 as there's no ie8 there. I can't seem to find an ie8.exe file on
the Microsoft website. Does anyone know where I can get one from?

Damien.
