So far, I haven't found a button or something that will let me make it my

Any ideas anyone?

It only does that if you have it set that way in internet options.

To make IE your default browser:

Go into Internet Options from the control panel. You can go to the
programs tab and check the box to have IE tell you if it is the default
browser or not.

Close this and re-open IE.

Funny you should ask because I just installed Adobe Reader XI myself today,
and it seems to work fine with JAWS 9 running XP, so it should work with
JAWS 11. But after you install Adobe Reader XI, you will need to make two
changes so that JAWS will work smoothly with it.

1. First, after you install Adobe Reader XI, launch it from your desktop
and access the Preferences dialog either by pressing Control-K or going to
the Edit menu and scrolling down to Preferences. On Preferences, arrow down
the list of options to Security Enhanced, tab to the check box labeled
"Enable Protected Mode at Start-Up" and make sure that it is unchecked.
Then tab to the Okay button to save your change.
2. Second, go to the Edit menu, scroll down to the Accessibility submenu
and open it. Arrow down to the Set-Up Assistant and select it. The Set-Up
Assistant consists of five screens, but you need not change anything on the
first four screens. When you get to screen 5 of 5, tab to the check box
labeled "Open PDF Documents In the Browser" and make sure that it is
unchecked. (It may be checked by default) Then tab to the Okay button and
finally close Adobe Reader. These two changes will make Reader more
compatible with JAWS. HTH

You should be able to do it from within IE. When you go into IE, are you
being prompted to make it the default? I think there is a checkbox for
this somewhere within tools options which I always keep checked so I can
be alerted, but unfortunately I can't remember just where it is. Hope

[JAWS-Users] introduction+an urgent issue

2013-02-05 Thread inamuddin
Respected fello jaws users, how are you? I sincerely hope that you and your
families will be safe and sound.
Since subscribtion of my self to this mailing list, this is my first mail to
this informative mailing list. Therefore i have decided to tell you little bit
about my self.
Friends, I'm 43 years old visually impaired new computer learner. My favorite
mesingers are skype & facebook. So I have some 1100 friends on skype & some 288
friends on facebook. If any one of you want to add me, my skype id:
charlsdarwin1 & my facebook id: inamuddin786
I think that my introduction is enough at least for the time being. Let's come
to the issue for which I have decided to send this email.
Friends, since a long time I have been using internet download manager with idm
script 1.0.exe for downloading any kind of files. Until jaws 13, everything was
smooth, but as soon as I have installed jaws 14, my bad luck has begun. In jaws
14 my script stopped. Some of my friends told me that it is working in windows
7 normally, but unfortunetly I am using windows xp.
Your advice regarding solution of this issue would highly be apreciated.

You did a good job wriing it I must say. Here is my version of it, feel free

int DefaultValue ; The number we'll get if there is no entry in the

If you don't have the statement include "hjconst.jsh" at the beginning of

leave it out. The doc says True is the default.

I did have to remove the word true which was giving the compiler fits. After
that how ever it compiled correctly and seem to work fine.

Hi David

The script below will do what you want. Each time it's run, the number will
be one higher. If the file name does not contain a path, the file will be
created in the JAWS user settings folder. But if the file extension is jsi,
the file will be in the Personal Settings folder of the JAWS user settings
folder. Also remember that if you are going to specify a path in the file
name, a back slash must be entered twice. For example,
c:\\HighLevel\\NextLevel\\MyFileName.

Script IncrementTheNumber ()
var int TheNumber, ; What we read from the file.
int DefaultValue ; The number we'll get if there is no entry in the
file.
let DefaultValue = -2
let TheNumber = -5
let TheNumber = IniReadInteger ("Sectionname", "keyname", DefaultValue,
"myfilename.ini")
SayString ("The current number is "+IntToString (TheNumber)) Let TheNumber =
TheNumber+1 IniWriteInteger ("sectionname", "keyname", TheNumber,
"myfilename.ini",true) let TheNumber = -10 let TheNumber = IniReadInteger
("Sectionname", "keyname", DefaultValue,
"myfilename.ini")
SayString ("The new number is "+IntToString (TheNumber)) EndScript

Re: [JAWS-Users] Make IE my default

2013-02-05 Thread Steve

It only does that if you have it set that way in internet options.

To make IE your default browser:

Go into Internet Options from the control panel. You can go to the programs
tab and check the box to have IE tell you if it is the default browser or
not.

Close this and re-open IE.

You should be able to do it from within IE. When you go into IE, are you
being prompted to make it the default? I think there is a checkbox for this
somewhere within tools options which I always keep checked so I can be
alerted, but unfortunately I can't remember just where it is. Hope this

Hi

If you don't have the statement include "hjconst.jsh" at the beginning of
your script file, True will be undefined. You could replace it with 1 or
leave it out. The doc says True is the default.

I did have to remove the word true which was giving the compiler fits. After
that how ever it compiled correctly and seem to work fine.

The script below will do what you want. Each time it's run, the number will
be one higher. If the file name does not contain a path, the file will be
created in the JAWS user settings folder. But if the file extension is jsi,
the file will be in the Personal Settings folder of the JAWS user settings
folder. Also remember that if you are going to specify a path in the file
name, a back slash must be entered twice. For example,
c:\\HighLevel\\NextLevel\\MyFileName.

Script IncrementTheNumber ()
var int TheNumber, ; What we read from the file.
int DefaultValue ; The number we'll get if there is no entry in the
file.
let DefaultValue = -2
let TheNumber = -5
let TheNumber = IniReadInteger ("Sectionname", "keyname", DefaultValue,
"myfilename.ini")
SayString ("The current number is "+IntToString (TheNumber)) Let TheNumber =
TheNumber+1 IniWriteInteger ("sectionname", "keyname", TheNumber,
"myfilename.ini",true) let TheNumber = -10 let TheNumber = IniReadInteger

"myfilename.ini")
SayString ("The new number is "+IntToString (TheNumber)) EndScript

Hello Susan,

It sounds like you just need to change your typing echo setting. When you go
into the Quick Settings (verbosity) find the typing echo choice under editing

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] scripting question

2013-02-05 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi again

I forgot to mention that JAWS scripts only do integer arithmetic. They
don't do floating point.

Hi David

The script below will do what you want. Each time it's run, the number will
be one higher. If the file name does not contain a path, the file will be
created in the JAWS user settings folder. But if the file extension is jsi,
the file will be in the Personal Settings folder of the JAWS user settings
folder. Also remember that if you are going to specify a path in the file
name, a back slash must be entered twice. For example,
c:\\HighLevel\\NextLevel\\MyFileName.

Script IncrementTheNumber ()
var int TheNumber, ; What we read from the file.
int DefaultValue ; The number we'll get if there is no entry in the
file.
let DefaultValue = -2
let TheNumber = -5
let TheNumber = IniReadInteger ("Sectionname", "keyname", DefaultValue,
"myfilename.ini")
SayString ("The current number is "+IntToString (TheNumber))
Let TheNumber = TheNumber+1
IniWriteInteger ("sectionname", "keyname", TheNumber, "myfilename.ini",true)
let TheNumber = -10
let TheNumber = IniReadInteger ("Sectionname", "keyname", DefaultValue,
"myfilename.ini")
SayString ("The new number is "+IntToString (TheNumber))
EndScript

Hi

You can try using the IniWriteInteger function to write the number to the
ini file and then use IniReadInteger to read it back in again.

I'm trying to figure out how to write an integer to a INI file and then test
it against a predetermined value. I keep getting an incorrect format error
which is not very helpful to be sure.

In other words I wish to increment a value and then test it. Any ideas will
be very welcome.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Google Chrome or IE 9, which is better

2013-02-05 Thread susan

Hi Everyone,
Well, I've upgraded to IE 9 with Google chrome and so far so good except for
one small annoyance. Now when I type in a URL JAWS is reading letter by
letter. I've checked verbosity settings and the reading by word option
appears checked as I want it. Does anyone know what else I should change?
Many thanks.

Susan

Hello Susan, the major advantage of IE 9 and Google chrome is they have
HTML 5 support, if you require that support on IE 8 you can install chrome
framework over IE 8, this is a subset of Google chrome,
this does work well with JFW.
cheers

Hi Everyone,
I’m using JAWS12 on a Windows 7 system and have finally decided to upgrade
my browser for various reasons. I recently logged into my gmail account
and saw a recommendation to upgrade to Google chrome. What are the pros
and cons to using Google chrome vs. IE 9 and how do I decide which is
better for me? Also, what is the current status of Windows Live mail? I
guess I’m asking whether it will still be usable even if Microsoft
technically stops supporting it. Any thoughts and advice much appreciated.
