Re: [JAWS-Users] Charter Webmail

2013-04-21 Thread Mike B.
Hi Elf,

The original question was me asking if anyone knew how to havigate Charter
Webmail. I don't have any problems with my email client, Outlook Express &
Charter but, I wanted to look at some settings on the charter Website /
Webmail to see if Webmail was stopping me from receiving certain emails.
So, I was asking if anyone had any tips on navigating Charter's Webmail. I
found out that it is flash based so attempting to navigate it would be damn
near impossible! However, I did make a change to in settings that made a
little easier to navigate but, accessing any messages was still impossible.
Thank you very much for your reply. Also, Marvin thank you for your input &
replies as well.
Take care.

Jaws reformats the web page in the vertual

[JAWS-Users] upgrading a system to windows 7

2013-04-21 Thread David Ferrin
Before I come to my senses or get a life I am taking a shot at converting an
XP Media Center system to a Windows 7 system mostly on my own.

While XP was still running I inserted the Windows 7 DVD and waited for it to
start. I followed the prompts and let it do it's thing rebooting a few times
along the way. Once it quieted down and with my wife's confirmation it was
ready I launched Narrator and was able to step through the process of the
out of box experience ETC completing the initial setup. Then using NVDA but
I guess Narrator would have still done it I managed to install JAWS 14.

The point of all of this boys and girls is that it is possible to do it
without help if you take your time and don't get in to a rush. I am trying
to take notes during this process regarding the various settings I like to
change when configuring such an animal but that really hasn't started yet.
It's too nice a day outside, maybe tomorrow I will pick this back up.

Re: [JAWS-Users] View on screen not follow Jaws PC cursor

2013-04-21 Thread Marvin Atkins
Sherrie,

The next time you're in your browser and this situation comes up, you might
go into settings (jaws key + 6 on numbers row), arrow down to user, right
arrow to open, arrow down until you hear "display virtual viewer on screen"
and check it. You can then alt F4, then save the changes; to see if it
helps your husband see what's on the screen. Worth a try to see if it makes
a difference.

I've done that often before when Jaws keystrokes won't work on various

First, where (on what site or type os site: is it Flash?) is this
control JAWS doesn't recognize that you need to click? Have you tried it
with the virtual cursor off - JAWSKey+z? That is a toggle.

If you press ctrl+JAWSKey+NumPadMinus, you normally want to hear, "the
JAWS cursor will not follow the PC cursor". That is also a toggle. Press
it twice within a second to save your desired setting.

in
either IE or Firefox. In Firefox, though, if I hit enter, the item
ends up
in the shopping cart. Normally that would solve the problem, but there
is a
20% off deal for this site, when clicking through the email containing
the
deal. My email links open in IE, so if I order through FF, I won't get
the
discount. What I want to do with the Jaws cursor is simulate a mouse
click.

I've done that often before when Jaws keystrokes won't work on various
sites. But now when I route Jaws to PC, there's no add to cart text to
click

on. I don't believe flash is the issue this time. Thanks,

Shari

First, where (on what site or type os site: is it Flash?) is this
control JAWS doesn't recognize that you need to click? Have you tried
it

with the virtual cursor off - JAWSKey+z? That is a toggle.

If you press ctrl+JAWSKey+NumPadMinus, you normally want to hear,
"the
JAWS cursor will not follow the PC cursor". That is also a toggle.
Press

it twice within a second to save your desired setting.

(It's too confusing to have the JAWS cursor following the PC cursor
all
the time: Plus, the PC cursor then doesn't move properly because it
is

being restricted by the JAWS cursor.

Hi All,

When I route the Jaws cursor to the PC cursor, I'm not in the same
place as I was with the PC cursor. I need to route the Jaws cursor
to
the PC to click a control Jaws 13 isn't recognizing with either IE
or

Firefox. When I route the Jaws cursor, it either switches me to
another open program, or it just reads a small amount of text no
matter whether the cursor is in real, focus, unrestricted, etc. I
guess somehow the 2 cursors have become unattached. Can someone
please

tell me how to get them back together?

Thank you,
Shari

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws cursor not following PC cursor

2013-04-21 Thread Sharon Gosling
Why don't you just change Firefox to the default browser, at least
temporarily, so the email will open in Firefox. I have done that. I have
also opened a link in one browser, copied the url onto the clipboard and
then opened the other browser and inserted the url.
I find that in most cases Firefox is the most useful for many websites but
occasionally IE will do a better job.
I don't have any advice about the Jaws cursor as I am finding it next to
useless for anything on the Internet lately with either browser.

Sorry, I didn't do a very good job describing the problem. The site is
www.gardeners.com. I'm trying to add items to the shopping cart. All the
links work except add to cart, which Jaws doesn't recognize as a link in
either IE or Firefox. In Firefox, though, if I hit enter, the item ends up
in the shopping cart. Normally that would solve the problem, but there is a

Hi list members, I'm having a problem when using Firefox and when I go to
www.youtube.com after I get there, I'm unable to search for "atomic power of
prayer part2~" I don't remember having this problem before. I would appreciate
any help that anyone can give concerning this situation.
