Re: [JAWS-Users] Wireless Adapter

2013-07-30 Thread Hicks Steven (CORNWALL IT SERVICES)
There are also some settings in the control panel of windows 7 under power I
think, advanced options that will let you change the wireless adaptor settings.
Not sure if these are just another way to control the power management of the
device through the control panel but it may be worth checking.
Let me know if you need more presise instructions on how to find them.

I wonder if your laptop is trying to conserve battery power by turning off the
wireless adapter after it's been idle for a while. Might look under device
manager, find your wireless adapter, bring up the context menu, go to
properties. Under one of those tabs should be something similar to allow power
management of this device. Try unchecking that and see what happens.

Re: [JAWS-Users] windows media player

2013-07-30 Thread David Bailes
Hi Steven,
I  assume you mean windows media player 12 on windows 7.
In windows media player, if you open the context menu of a track, then open the
add to sub menu, then a number of play lists are shown on this sub menu.
Unfortunately, only the last eight of so playlists which have been created are
shown. However, the last item on the menu is additional playlists, and if you
open this, you can select any playlist in dialog.

As an alternative, you can:
1. select the playlist, and choose play from its context menu. The items in the
playlist are then placed in the currently playing list (which is on the right
side of the screen).
2. You can add tracks to this now playing list by opening the context menu,
open the add to sub menu, and choosing playlist. The shortcut for this is
ctrl+7.
3. When you've finished adding tracks, tab to the save list button, and press
it.
Alternately, press alt+s.

David.

[JAWS-Users] Strange Behavior in Word and Outlook 2010

2013-07-30 Thread Scott Duck
Hello,

I am using JAWS 14 and Windows 8. I have noticed some strange behavior when
using Outlook 2010 and Word 2010. When I am typing in a document or
message, my cursor will occasionally jump to a different place in the
document, resulting in me inserting text where I did not intend to.
Sometimes, the text that I have just typed will just suddenly disappear. A
few minutes ago, two paragraphs just disappeared from the bottom of a Word
document. I thought that I might be accidently hitting the touch pad and
moving the cursor or selecting text that way. However, even if I am hitting
the touch pad, I know that I am not pressing the mouse buttons at the bottom
of the touch pad. Just touching it shouldn't move the cursor or select
text, should it? This can be very frustrating. I would appreciate any
suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong and how to fix it.

Thanks,

Scott Duck

My guess based on what you say is to check your power settings under the

that way it won't try to turn things off to conserve power if there is

Re: [JAWS-Users] Updating Adobe Flash Player

2013-07-30 Thread Steve
Minite hasn't had Adobe Flash for several months now, due to a copyright
issue.

What you need to do is get to the installer, if you see three buttons with
the first being unlabeled, the second is I and the third is Q. Click the
unlabeled button with your spacebar, that is the button that you are
agreeing to their license terms. Then, click the I Install button.

You might try convenient OCR to see if the install button might be announced
as well. It is a lot harder upgrading Adobe Flash now than it used to be
when it was available through Minite. Oh, and another idea, go into Adobe
Flash options and set it to notify you of updates.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Updating Adobe Flash Player

2013-07-30 Thread Patricia Zoellers
I can do that pretty well, but what about that google crome/tool bar, still
best to uncheck it as times in the past?
In fact, I downloaded this thing, haven't ran it yet though, but did uncheck
the toolbar, the beauty of that other site, it didn't install such toolbars.

[JAWS-Users] wells fargo update

2013-07-30 Thread Becky Buckner
Thanks so much to those who replied to my wells Fargo issue.

I had a call this afternoon from the very patient Wells Fargo tech guy I spoke
to yesterday. It seems that the problem stems from the use of the Tab key. I
would normally tab from edit field to edit field when logging in. Instead now,
I still use the E to get to the edit field and enter to turn it on, but then
I have to turn mode forms off and use the arrow key to move to the next edit
field instead of using the tab. Not a real problem, just a changing of habit.

Thanks again.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Wildcard Searches Once More

2013-07-30 Thread TJ McElroy gMail

Hello Virgil,

Here is a dos command that will find your draft*.* files and put the
results of the search into a file named search.txt

command follows:

dir /s draft*.* c:\search.txt

To run the command follow these steps:

1. goto start menu
2. open accesseries
3. click on Command Prompt
4 once in the command prompt:
5. type: cd\
At this point the bottom line of the active screen should
say some thing simular to: c:\

You are now in a dos prompt or at the command prompt.
You must read the screen by useing the invisible cursur.

type the command given above:

dir /s draft*.* c:\search.txt

## the command dir will search for the given file - draft in our case.
## adding the *.* to the draft file name tells the command to include all
files that have any thing after the initial draft: ie: draft-123.txt -
draft_shoe.doc
## the sign will direct all of the results of the dir command into a file:
in our case: c:\search.txt

## c:\ is the root directory of drive c:

## to read your file go back to Windows and open Notepad
once in NotePad press - control o
then type - c:\search.txt at the file open command.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Wildcard Searches Once More

In an earlier note, I asked, Does anyone know how to perform a wildcard
search for files using Jaws 14 and Windows 7? I should have elaborated.

I want to perform a wildcard search to find related files, draft*.*, for
example. In Windows 7, how does one perform such a search. A friend
suggested choosing computer on the desk top and then choosing Library,
which I can't find without using the Jaws cursor/mouse pointer. What do I
do after choosing library, assuming that's the route to take.

Does anyone have a solution?

Thank you.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Wildcard Searches Once More

2013-07-30 Thread Annette Carr
There has got to be a way to do this without going to the DOS prompt. When
you use Windows+e to open windows Explorer, there is an search box in there.
I've got to admit I have not been all that successful in using this, but I
figured that I just did not know what I was doing. Someone on this list
must know how to use it.

Annette

Hello Virgil,

Here is a dos command that will find your draft*.* files and put the
results of the search into a file named search.txt

command follows:

dir /s draft*.* c:\search.txt

To run the command follow these steps:

1. goto start menu
2. open accesseries
3. click on Command Prompt
4 once in the command prompt:
5. type: cd\
At this point the bottom line of the active screen should say some thing
simular to: c:\

You are now in a dos prompt or at the command prompt.
You must read the screen by useing the invisible cursur.

type the command given above:

dir /s draft*.* c:\search.txt

## the command dir will search for the given file - draft in our case.
## adding the *.* to the draft file name tells the command to include all
files that have any thing after the initial draft: ie: draft-123.txt -
draft_shoe.doc ## the sign will direct all of the results of the dir
command into a file:
in our case: c:\search.txt

## c:\ is the root directory of drive c:

## to read your file go back to Windows and open Notepad once in NotePad
press - control o then type - c:\search.txt at the file open command.

 Thank you.
