Hi Joseph, Sure, you can Dropbox it to me. I have a account for this address already set up. jorgethehang...@gmail.com My 3 install of Mywarebytes came through email and once you install it there is nothing else to download. What rock did you crawl out of because I been here only one month in this club and your replies seem to be good and I notice some controversy on the new guy (You).. Anyways you are doing good, keep up the good work. Thanks. Re: [JAWS-Users] windows defender vs. super antivirus
Oh yeah, I forgot... On Win8, Defender is "always" running. It feels a bit strange as we've always had to do all kinds of configurating of an antivirus and now its simply built in on Win8 computers. . To test it, simply pop in a thumb drive then go to "computer," right click (Shift F10) on the thumb drive and choose "scan" or something to that effect. At some point you should see a screen conveying scan progress. By the way, if you are already running Windows Defender, you are actually running a renamed MSE, so if you've installed MSE on top of Defender then you might end up having problems. Re: [JAWS-Users] Urgent, After Long Term Use Jaws Refusing to Authorize
I don't want to pile on or anything, but I too dislike this ILM system. I especially dislike that the person you have to call to reauthorize jaws via update of your license will ask you why you need the licenses then they take Note of this on their computers as if you are being tracked. It feels like you are asking your mommy for permission to use something for which you paid an immense amount of money. . Re: [JAWS-Users] non accessible installs
Hi Kevin, When you come across a situation where you are having trouble reading the screen during an installation, try the following: 1. use your jaws cursor to read the entire screen and use numpad related left and right-click keys. 2. Use the Jaws OCR tools: press JawsKey+spacebar then press letter o then press letter w. You can now use the numpad left and right-click commands. Thanks for explaining, ... I will not comment since I cannot possibly think of a remark at the moment that is not profoundly unflattering to Freedom Scientific, and their set up. I do wish they'd at least acknowledge people have problems (which they have set things up so ONLY they can solve) on weekends and in the evening, ... not to mention a toll free line. I will suggest you run both though as any modern computer such as a Win8 can handle this configuration. You will also be much more protected if you run both simultaneously. MSE (now defender in Win8) is not very good at scanning one's registry. On the other hand, Malwarebytes Pro is very, very good at scanning one's registry, and it is a very fast malware scanner. No real-time blocking/scanning is similar to not having any malware protection of this type at all. This means that when you visit a website with code running in the background that can infect your computer with a virus, you will not know that you've been infected until you run a malware scan which can be days or weeks after the infection. Since you might already be infected, the removal of malware might be impossible depending on the aggressiveness of the malware. In short, no real-time scanning is a very bad idea. George's Malwarebytes Pro is running in real-time and is a very effective and very accessible malware utility. Re: [JAWS-Users] Quotes, Stopping Jaws From Reading Them
If you have more than one speech synth on your computer that JAWS can use, it will appear in the Select a Profile dialogue - control insert s. (For example, SAPI5.) Select a synthesizer other than eloquence, and try it out on apostrophes/quotes. (Incidentally, I changed my apostrophe sign to always read as quote, as this is the most common occurrence of the sign. Also, apostrophe has four syllables! Takes a long time to, uh, say! that may be a two- or three-step process. One still gets the nuisance of JAWS pausing in a word and saying didn quote t where it would have formerly said didn apostrophe t. Half-a-dozen of one and 5-½ of the other, like. - Original Message - From: "susie q" To: Sent: Friday, September 13, 2013 2:07 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Quotes, Stopping Jaws From Reading Them ow do I do that? -Original Message- From: Flor Lynch Sent: Thursday, September 12, 2013 8:31 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Quotes, Stopping Jaws From Reading Them I think it must be 'hardwired' as an entry in Eloquence's speech dictionary . Arrow down to, Punctuation closed & press right arrow to open. 3. Arrow down to customize punctuation & press the spacebar to open. Don't press enter here, if you press enter instad of the spacebar, the Settings Center will close. 4.A. When making changes in the customize punctuation list, if you do not want Jaws to speak/recognize a particular punctuation mark you want to choose the " all " selection. You will have 4 radio buttons to arrow up or down through. They are none, some, most, & all. In these selections they work backwards than what you would think. For example; If you choose " none " for the dollar sign, Jaws will speak / recognize every dollar sign in whatever you are reading. On the other hand, if you choose the " all " radio button, Jaws will not speak / recognize any dollar signs. 4.B. After you pressed the spacebar on customize punctuation, you are now in a list of punctuation marks. Arrow down the list and when you have the punctuation mark you want to change highlighted, tab 1 time to the radio buttons that I mentioned earlier. 5. Keeping in mind what I mentioned earlier about these choices working backwards, select the box in this list, in your case not wanting any apostrophy's spoken, choose the all button. 6. Now, if you want to make a change to another punctuation mark, shift tab back to the list and highlight a different punctuation mark, tab back to the radio buttons and select the box you prefer. 7. After you are done making your changes tab to okay and press the spacebar. 8. Tab to apply, press the spacebar, tab to okay, press the spacebar to save your changes & close the Settings Center. Now, I hope that you are not as confused as I am after typing all of this. LOL Hope this has helped. Take care. Mike This email was sent from my, iBarstool. Re: [JAWS-Users] vocalizer voices with jaws 15
Eric said that it wouldn't. Now, if you're going to keep J 14, keep those voices for the meen time. Then, you can get rid of them when and if you upgrade. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Nicole Valicia Thompson-Andrews Sent: Sunday, September 15, 2013 10:10 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] vocalizer voices with jaws 15 I think it may be true. Re: [JAWS-Users] vocalizer voices with jaws 15
Regarding support for older Vocalizer direct voices... in the August 2013 FSCast podcast, At 21 minutes 39 seconds, Eric stated that older Vocalizer direct voices will only work with J14. The new Vocalizer Expressive voices with pitch change will only work with J15 and above. Re: [JAWS-Users] windows defender vs. super antivirus
I don't know. I stopped using it years ago when I found many YouTube videos demonstrating it's poor malware detection ability. I've been using Malwarebytes Pro ever since and have not had any problems, though I've been made aware of lots of "potential" problems for which I'm grateful to Malwarebytes pro for preventing the infections and headaches. . [JAWS-Users] is jaws15 compatible with eudora?
Friends, I'm having well maybe not a major issue, but it's annoying nonetheless. what I do is I start up at the top of my inbox with the home key then I delete to the end. However, at this time, when I delete either way, jaws will for some reason say letters at the end of either a message or when i delte in caps letters like this, R D or whatever. I'm using the beta release. any suggestions? For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Re: [JAWS-Users] Urgent, After Long Term Use Jaws Refusing to Authorize
Regarding Jaws keys eaten up... it might be that your tech plugged in the Sata cables in different slots than their original locations for the same hardware, which changed the jaws authorization snapshot of your computer configuration in the process. Jaws will not require authorization if you change an optical drive or maybe even if you add a card reader because the SATA cable was not unplugged from the motherboard, but it looks like it will chew up a license if you add or change your ram configuration, if you change your hard drive of course, and if you change any other "essential" piece of hardware. You may already have the knowledge, but in the event that ou don't, please let me know and I'll help you shop around for a new power supply. . I do not understand in windows live mail for a new message the signature is placed without blank lines. Now If I reply to a message and instruct the signature to be added it puts several blank lines before and double spaces the information. Then again several blank lines are inserted. MSE and super anti spyware will work together as well. If memory serves the rule of thumb is one antivirus along with one anti spyware will work but no other combination is possible or at the very lease advisable. The fact is the amount of possible combinations is quite staggering with all of the available products on the market. Personally I run MSE along with super antispyware with a good level of success. Hi Rick, Though your suggestion is true in the event one still has authorizations remaining, my solution was based on the probability that the person used up all authorization keys. Here is more info regarding my suggestion as well as the link where online product activation help can be found: Error 106 You may have used all of your available activation keys. Unfortunately, the process goes as follows... You will first have to call FS tech support and explain the problem to them: fs Tech Support (727) 803 8600 for jaws press 2. They will then ask you to call or they will transfer you to a second number which will help you authorize Jaws. the number is: (727) 803 8015. By stating "disconnect my power supply" do you mean you unplugged the desktop from the wall, or do you mean you had to disconnect the power supply unit it from your motherboard? If you disconnected from the wall then no problem. If you meant you disconnected it from your motherboard then this is a problem as each time you internally disconnect and reconnect your power supply, this may eat up your jaws licenses. Re: [JAWS-Users] windows defender vs. super antivirus
Hi Joseph, You seem to be contradicting yourself, recommending that both programs should be running at the same time, while at the same time saying that this can cause problems. Having more than one anti-malware program installed on the computer is not a problem, but they should be run at different times to avoid conflicts. Also, Only one anti-virus program should be resident on your machine, but an on-line anti-virus solution can be used as a separate scan. Yes, Jaws 15 is necessary for the newer voices. Hi, Though always good suggestions, the maintenance suggestions below are mutually exclusive of symptoms described. Try unloading and reloading jaws as well as a reboot to see if that authorization prompt disappears though original author appears to have already tried this step. I think the only solution will end up being a call to FS tech support as you almost certainly ate through your allotted Jaws keys.
