[JAWS-Users] setting up a windows 8.1 computer, using jaws as your screen reader.
Hi all, I understand that W8 is a little different than W7. I want it to be as easy as possible to use using jaws. Where are the best directions to set up a W8.1 computer using jaws 15? Re: [JAWS-Users] shopping on the sears web site
Hi, Well, it is a busy site. I found an accessibility link and clicked on that, it was after that stuff about zooming l/r and dragging... I also put like ladies jeans in the search box, then tab to one of those links. I went to the one, today's specials and entered on it, it did give me some info on ladies PJ's and a cargo jacket, it wanted my zip code to narrow it to the nearest store, you might try to do that since this is in Canada. Also, I found several 800 numbers for help on making purchases as well as placing orders, if all else fails, make them work for you call them up explain your situation and you need help. - Original Message - From: anna vimini To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Tuesday, September 09, 2014 11:33 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] shopping on the sears web site I am on the site: www.Sears.ca Re: [JAWS-Users] shopping on the sears web site what's the site URL? Helo Pati, I am using word 2013, but it must be similar to 2010. Go to the ribbons with alt. Then right arrow to 'presentation'or 'format' (My word is in Spanish so I am not sure how it might be transllated). Down arrow to upen that menu and right arrow until you find 'convert text to' or something like that. I hope this helps. Hi all, Further to my below message, I looked at a number of sites with combo boxes while at work today. Running Jaws 15, with certain sites the combo boxes worked as expected: booking flights for example. However, with other sites, there was no feed-back from the combo boxes at all. Re: [JAWS-Users] combo boxes
Hi Flor, I have Firefox as my default browser on my home computer, it was on FF that I first noticed the problem. Tried IE 64 bit with similar result. I only have Jaws 15, but have tried it using NVDA. Have tried the usual restarts and the like. What I find is when I initially enter and ALT down-arrow on the Combo, in Firefox it states read only edit. When I tab away and tab back, it has an entry. Example: Country of residence: random selection: Albania as I arrow down, it continuously repeats Albania. If I tab away and tab back, the country has changed. Example: Denmark. This occurs with both Jaws and NVDA, although I wouldn't be used to working with NVDA. The difficulty is that the form I am attempting to fill in must be completed in a certain number of minutes or it refreshes. I believe it may be a specific type of form, or there is some security feature applicable as I am able to access combo boxes on other sites without difficulty.
