Re: [JAWS-Users] How to move to, Jaws15 from14
Hi By default, any new version of JAWS will be installed into its own folders and will make no changes to earlier installed versions. The only way the old version would be overwritten would be to install the new version to the same folders as the old version. Unless you're tight on disk space, I wouldn't uninstall JAWS 14 after installing JAWS15. I have seen situations where an older version worked better than a newer version. I always keep the latest 2 versions on my system. But if you do uninstall JAWS 14 or any earlier version after installing JAWS 15, as was said, don't delete the shared components. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Mike Boyd Sent: Thursday, September 18, 2014 11:27 To: Jaws Users Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] How to move to, Jaws15 from14 Yes, you can install JAWS 15 over the top of 14, and it will work fine. Re: [JAWS-Users] Adding Headings in Word 2007 with JAWS 15
Hello Bill, I think you are confusing headers and headings. The Alt N H key sequence is for a header, which appears in the top margin of pages. A heading in Word is a built-in style. A style contains a specific font, font size, font color, character spacing and other specific attributes. You can insert the heading 1 style by using Alt+CTRL+1. Insert heading 2 style by using Alt+CTRL+2, and insert heading 3 style by using Alt+CTRL+3. You can check what attributes are used by the heading by using JAWS key with f when focus is on a line using that style. You can insert other styles by using CTRL+Shift+s, which will present a list of styles. Once in the list of styles you can use up or down arrow keys to pick a style and press enter on it or you can for example press t, use down arrow key one time to get the title style, and then press enter key. Generally, when you use a keystroke to use a heading and type the heading information, the enter key will return you to the normal style. If you want the style to continue on subsequent lines then use Shift+Enter at the end of lines instead of just the enter key. The style will continue on a subsequent line if the text wraps to that line on its own and you don't use the enter key. Also, you can select a line of text and then use the keystroke for the heading level you want used and that style will apply to your selected text. Take care. [JAWS-Users] New OCR feature
Well I just wanted to briefly comment on the new OCR feature for PDF documents that were scanned as images. I received an attachment the other day which was actually a fax someone had scanned and sent to me. Well of course I went to open it and it said blank document. I quickly did the insert spacebar key followed by o and then d for document. Within 10-15 seconds JAWS started reading the entire 6 page document. Nice job FS I would also like to say JAWS 16 beta has crashed a few times in Outlook 2010 which 15 did too. However, with 16 just sit tight for a few seconds and JAWS restarts itself. [JAWS-Users] Word 2010 Question
In Word 2010 how do I change the setting from 2 superscript nd so it will read just 2 and the letters nd? Couldn't find it in options. How do I change - into just two dashes? Thanks! Deb Caldbeck For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] Yahoo.com
Hi Sunshine, After I log-in to Yahoo, I cannot seem to find out how to get to the settings for my account. I know that there are settings that can be changed such as filters for mail which will allow control of how messages are downloaded. Even my own messages to the list using my Yahoo mail account are being marked as spam by the server. Any direction to this area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Rick Justice Tomorrow's another day, another way! and if tomorrow never comes, problem solved! - Original Message - From: Sunshine sunsh...@abe.midco.net To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Friday, September 19, 2014 9:26 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Yahoo.com i use yahoo all the time and can help out what do you need to know? With iTunes and an iPhone, the status is shown if you tab and then just sit on that field when you find it. It only takes from a few to perhaps 20-30 seconds then and then you will hear the familiar iTunes sound indicating completion. [JAWS-Users] IE 9 or 10 tutorial
Hi List: The subject says a lot. Is there somewhere I can get a tutorial for a JAWS 15 and Windows 7 user who isn't very computer literate to find a tutorial to learn how to use IE 9 or 10? I am now using IE 8 and need very clear and simple instructions as I am totally blind and have no sighted help. Thanks very much for any and all suggestions. Linda To err is human but to really mess things up, one needs a computer. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
