If your in box has 100 messages it will tell you that and it will say 80

20 of the messages.

This is a way for you to know how many messages are in a folder also. So say
you wanted to see how many messages in a folder you have made you can use
the same command. Hope I have answered your questions.

What you are seeing there are the speech engines (4), not the individual

the case, that's the governing principle for each of the speech engines.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS and OpenBook version 7

2015-02-24 Thread David Moore
Hi all,
I was thinking. I don't know how much it would be to up-grade to
OpenBook 9. Is there any other way that I could use my Epson scanner
and the scanner's software and scan printed documents into the
computer and still read them with JAWS. If I simply scanned the
documents into the computer with the scanner, how easy would it be to
save that as a PDF or some other file type that JAWS could read? Is
there another OCR option that would be cheaper than up-grading to OB
9. I would appreciate any feed-back from you guys. Thank you so
much.
David Moore from Columbus Ohio. By the way, Linda, please do not get
a mac I would be so very sad if you left windows and JAWS!!
There has been a lot of instructions to still use Outlook Express.
Thanks guys.

No, don't do that. You would want it on. Have you ever heard JAWS say,
OnMouseOver? This is a type of link where the mouse hovers over when
you're on it, and the JAWS keystroke to activate it is ctrl+Insert+ENTER.
The text associated with it appears only when this link is specifically
clicked in this way. If there is such text (and there isn't always), after
you perform the above keystroke, JAWS will say, Page changed at line xx
where xx is the line number on the page.) So try that keystroke on the

is

not a combo box and alt+ down arrow does not bring it on. Jaws does say

John,

If it's the Infomation Bar, more about that in a moment.

Does JAWS say 'link' when on the title's graphic? Sometimes ctrl and
spacebar can open a menu undefined by JAWS or a 'box'. There is already
a separate site called Dropbox, so it's best to avoid loose terms like
that one. My first thought was of a combo box, which you would open with
alt+DownArrow.

Also, pres alt-n to bring up the Information Bar (probably that could be
it). Then Allow once or Allow Always, depending on your choice, which
you press space then may arrow to. Then you might enter or double-click
to confirm.

Then you might enter or double-click
 to confirm.

A few other small things to try, which might not make any diffeerence but
might be tried for academic interest. Press single-click once on the link.
Press SPACEBAR on the link. Route JAWS to PC and then double-click. And
finally, which may be the best one: Turn off the virtual cursor with
Insert+z and then see if you can acttivate the link when you find it.

If there is such text (and there isn't always), after
you perform the above keystroke, JAWS will say, Page changed at line xx
where xx is the line number on the page.) So try that keystroke on the
problem link.

Trish,
Just what I thought might happen, smile. We were not referring to the
Dropbox program; but to a descriptive term that a sighted person used to
illlustrate a link that John's JAWS - for some( as-yet unknown) reason - is
not seeing.

If there is such text (and there isn't always), after
you perform the above keystroke, JAWS will say, Page changed at line xx
where xx is the line number on the page.) So try that keystroke on the
 problem link.

Thanks for reply. I don't think an information bar appears, and alt + n
 did
not bring it on. My sighted friend says when she move the mouse cursor
 over
the graphic a list appears, and when the cursor goes off the graphic the
list disappears. I used the term drop box incorrectly, but it definitely
 is
not a combo box and alt+ down arrow does not bring it on. Jaws does say
only the number of the graphic, certainly not a list of links. I also
 tried
insert + f3, and clicked on graphics and then the specific graphic, but
nothing happened. Appreciate any other thoughts.

Then you might enter or double-click
 to confirm.

Hi list. I was trying to download an audio book from a website and could

options including a download link. I have tried both the Jaws cursor and

The Open Book upgrade to version 9 will cost you $150. I don't know of any

is Ducksberry, but that would mean paying the full price for the software,

documents into the computer with the scanner, how easy would it be to
save that as a PDF or some other file type that JAWS could read? Is
there another OCR option that would be cheaper than up-grading to OB

I get to the last step and when I press the okay button an alert comes
up but all it has on it is alert okay or cancel I press okay on it and
it takes me back to the okay button for my rule and when I press it
again the same thing happens.
I do not know what I am doing wrong?

2. Click New. A Filter Rules dialog box will appear.

3. In the Filter Name field, type a name for your filter.

4. Under Apply filter when, check one of the options or both.

NOTE: In most cases, you won't want to change from the default Getting New
Mail and Manually Run options.

5. In the Getting New Mail: dropdown menu, choose either Filter before
