[JAWS-Users] Problem with Jaws Find in FS Reader

2015-04-19 Thread The Iowa Gal
Hi list,

I'm using Jaws 15 with FS Reader 3.0. In attempting to use the Jaws Find
command in a DAISY text-only book, Jaws puts me at the beginning of the book
no matter what word I am trying to find. I am searching within the document
pane with the window maximized. Unloading and restarting Jaws does not help,
nor does closing and restarting FS Reader. I never had such a problem with
FS Reader 2.0 and, frankly, I am regretting upgrading to 3.0.
Can someone help me resolve this issue or, lacking a solution, is it
possible for me to revert to FS Reader 2.0?

Thanks much,
Norma

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Problem with Jaws Find in FS Reader

Thanks much,
Norma

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws and google chrome!

2015-04-19 Thread Flor Lynch
As an individual who has tried Google Chrome with JAWS16 and earlier
versions, I agree with your org's findings! JAWS16 (and presumably sequent
versions) will better cope with the accessibility or lack thereof, of
Chrome. But it is, indeed, fast, as compared with IE (and probably Fioefox
as well).

In response to the original question: I would say that JAWS12 is too early a
version of JAWS to work well with Chrome at the present time. Also, the
combo box difficulty has been known to occur with beta releases of other
browsers and JAWSS, or with any in-present-use browser with older versions
of JAWS. I'm not sure that the combo box issue has ever been resolved with
Google Chrome; last time I checked - a few months ago, - it wasn't
satisfactory with JAWS16 either. Other things, such as Google and weather,
were very fast.

Ladies and gentlemen,
We ran tests on these browsers at Virtual Vision Technologies. Regrettably,
there are some browsers out there which are incredibly fast but they aren't
accessible with a screen reader or magnification. Each of these browsers
has elements which are unique and keeping them around is an excellent
suggestion. However, each person uses an internet browser in his or her own
manner.

INTERNET EXPLORER:
Reliable and fairly consistent in all types of HTML environment. However,
Internet Explorer has been targeted for hacking and interference more than
any other software of its type.

2. GOOGLE CHROME:
Not completely accessible. Due to its incompatibility with screen readers,
Google Chrome can be frustrating at times . The spoken search capability is
an excellent option once it has been set up with a PC. However, that is a
difficult process for anyone except an advanced computer user. Once
acquired, Google Chrome can be almost twice as fast as older versions of
Explorer but it is affected by Internet traffic and will slow to a crawl in
high volume conditions. Google Chrome is still a work in progress and it
too has been hacked and abused on many occasions.

The opinions expressed here are based on our observations. We tested and
timed both browsers using Windows 7 and 8.1 systems. Local internet
conditions must be taken into consideration.

With the introduction of Windows 10, Internet Explorer will no longer be
used by Microsoft. It is being replaced by a new browser called Spartan.
Spartan uses technology originally made available through Google Chrome and
other lesser known search engines. We anticipate that Spartan will be an
entirely new approach to surfing the Internet. As always, early versions of
Windows 10 may require additional upgrades to deal with bugs and development
issues.

2010

Hi To the Hangman,
I have a couple of questions about your info in the email below. First when
I open a new email and tab once I can enlarge my screen and the cursor is in
the CC field in tho it sounds like Jaws is saying BCC field. In looking at
the new email that I have enlarged there is on the To and CC field showing
in my Outlook 2010. So how do you get

to the BCC field?

Second question. When I open a new email the cursor is flashing in the To
field. So If I tab once I end up in the CC field. Then If I do the
ctrl+shift+b to open the address book then I choose a number of people
ctrl+shift+then
hit enter twice and I see that all the people I choose are in the To field.
Is that wear they are supposed to go even tho I had my cursor in the CC
field?

Thanks in advance

Ed

Hi,
Try this:
After you decided, if it's going to be a forward or a new mail.
Tab to the BCC field and press control + shift + B.
Or, try this one alt +period either one will go to the address book.

Use your arrows to select and press enter and so on.

When, you select your last person press enter twice to close the address
book.

Tab through the fields to the message body.

Ok, that's it,

Jorge

This is how I send out multiple emails.
1, Open up a new email
2, shift tab to the to.., enter
3, arrow down to the person you want the email to go to 4, press alt B, for
the BCC field 5, arrow down to the next person you want the email to go to
6, alt B, and so on 7, when you got all the people you want the email to go
to 8, tab to ok, press enter. That should put you back on the email 9, tab
to the subject line fill that out 10, tab to the body of the email, fill
that out 11, alt s to send it off.

Hello list,

So I would like to send an email to multiple recipients, but am not having
success with a certain method. I know I can from within a new email message
go to the to button and look up people to add from my address book, but I
find that to be too tedious and time consuming.

I'm trying to add a bunch of people by first pressing the control button and
then going down my address book with the down arrow and pressing the
spacebar on those who I wish to email. I guess it would be the command for
selecting noncontiguous items in a list. Anyway, After I select the people I
wish to email, I press the control+N command but instead of an email message
popping up with the previously selected contact emails in the to field, I
get the prompt to create a new contact.

I've tried different versions of the same. By selecting my contacts then
tabbing around in the ribbons to select the new mail option and so on, but
no dice.

I got this step by step instruction online, but so far, I've had no luck.

Am I somehow missing a step or can someone enlighten me as to how to best do
this? This is not for distribution lists as I would like to email different
groupings of people at different times.

I'm using Outlook 2010 and the latest Jaws 16.

Thank you,.

Why are some list members so infatuated with Google Chrome? It still has
serious compatibility issues with JAWS, and I don't understand why these
members insist on using it anyway. I realize that IE has its problems, but
could someone explain how Chrome is superior to Firefox? Firefox also has
its pecadillos, but for the most part, it is very accessible with JAWS, and
I am now relying on it more frequently when I encounter web pages that IE 8
can no longer access. What's the deal?

Tom,

What version of JAWS and what version of Google Chrome are you using? Also
your Operating System? That information could help the list in case some
of the dinosaurs like me need to update.

Tom,

That's pretty amazing. Well, if I ever run into google Chrome again I'll
poke around a bit and see if I'm impressed enough to switch. Since you need
to use it with your work computer, I hope you can get good functionality
with it. I've been in that position many times in my work career, and have
sometimes been very disappointed when accessibility was just not there.
