Michael,

Never tried this one. In the past, some folks have suggested Belarc advisor. I
ran this on a Win 7 machine but can't comment on how/if it works on Win 8.1 as
I only have that on a Dell Pro tablet and am less than impressed with it. Much
prefer Win 7. Anyway, just thought I'd throw that suggestion in the hopper.

There is a utility called Speccy, from the makers of C Cleaner that will do
this for you. However, when you install the program onto a computer, it will
also install Google Chrome and the Google Tool Bar as well without warning.
There is an option to run the program as a portable application from a USB

internet search for the utility and select the result from Piriform, the

Cortana, excuse any typos, doesn't work too well on my netbook, but I'm

No surprise though, it is likely to take a bit for screen readers to get
a handle on things with that, those virtual buffers tend to be tricky in

Bob, I can answer some of these questions but not all of them, yet.

How did you find out that Microsoft is no longer going to use internet
explorer for windows 10?

That information has been available for quite some time. If you were
to
Google Windows 10, you would find that information. In addition,
Freedom
Scientific and Microsoft always work in tandem and make sure that any
new

software they come out with is compatible.

Can you tell me a little bit about Spartan? Will it be accessible with
jaws?

and can you use adobe flash player with it?

Spartan is a search engine built with Google Chrome and Firefox as the
initial platform. It has characteristics of both Google Chrome and
Firefox.

Adobe Flash Player is an independent software package. However, be
assured
that Adobe is no fool. I'm sure that their software is already
compatible
or that they will come out with one of their new updates which will
render

it workable with Windows 10.

Will it be accessible with jaws?

I have never found a Microsoft major software package that wasn't
accessible
with Jaws. Some of the elements in Microsoft Office aren't Jaws
friendly
but for the most part, there hasn't been a Microsoft operating system

Re: [JAWS-Users] notification chevron button

Hi Anna,

The Notification Area Icons are simply like the system tray where the
status of whatever you have set to appear there shows up. You can press
enter on
any of the items and do different things like raise or lower the
computer volume, check your WyFy connection and/or switch to another
network. check the
status of your antivirus software and quickly open the program and start
a scan, and it may tell you that the Action Center in control panel is
reporting
a problem or two with your computer, and pressing enter on this will
open up the Action Center so that you may address these problems. The
last item on
the list is usually a customize button which you can open to add or
remove items from the list. You can also access the Notification Area by
pressing the
tab key 3 times from the desktop, and then pressing the space bar. I
hope this explains it a little for you.

Personally, I find it best to just keep my SMA active and update once a year.
Sooner or later you're going to have to update and when you do it is going to
cost a lot of money.
Therefore, I feel it's better it's to pay a small amount per year and enjoy the
new and enhance benefits of each jaws release. JM all

Keeping up those SMA's is a good idea, especially now that it can be

120 dollars every 2 years which really isn't too awful bad a deal as
long as we have a stable and fast product. If one feels the cost of
keeping jaws isn't more than jaws is worth, then maybe it be time to
try something else? I'm really glad we have so many choices to do \so,

Hi.
Cortana, excuse any typos, doesn't work too well on my netbook, but I'm
willing to believe that I'm not using it properly and perhaps my
computer isn't the best example in any case. As for Sparton, I tried to
try it, and got nowhere. The only thing that almost worked was using the
touch cursor commands, but I was unable to find the address bar.

No surprise though, it is likely to take a bit for screen readers to get
a handle on things with that, those virtual buffers tend to be tricky in
that controls they aren't supporting just don't get any support at all.
It isn't like a native interface where you can try to work around issues
and it still mostly works.

Hi.
I think I can add to the bit about Adobe. Apparently, according to a
podcast I heard recently that I would name if I could remember which it
was, Adobe is taking part in the development of Sparton in at least a
small way, let alone making its own offerings compatible.

I haven't proven this, I just heard it by word of mouth on a podcast
and

I don't know for certain.

Bob, I can answer some of these questions but not all of them, yet.

How did you find out that Microsoft is no longer going to use internet
explorer for windows 10?

That information has been available for quite some time. If you
were to
Google Windows 10, you would find that information. In addition,
Freedom
Scientific and Microsoft always work in tandem and make sure that
any new

software they come out with is compatible.

Can you tell me a little bit about Spartan? Will it be accessible
with jaws?

and can you use adobe flash player with it?

Spartan is a search engine built with Google Chrome and Firefox as the
initial platform. It has characteristics of both Google Chrome and
Firefox.

Adobe Flash Player is an independent software package. However, be
assured
that Adobe is no fool. I'm sure that their software is already
compatible
or that they will come out with one of their new updates which will
render

it workable with Windows 10.

Will it be accessible with jaws?

I have never found a Microsoft major software package that wasn't
accessible
with Jaws. Some of the elements in Microsoft Office aren't Jaws
friendly
but for the most part, there hasn't been a Microsoft operating
system that

Jaws couldn't work with.

Could I also use Free YouTube to MP3 converter to download and
convert music

videos to mp3?

Again, you are asking about software which operates independently
from the
Windows operating system. I don't see any compatibility issues but
only

time will tell.

Will I need to install Spartan if I upgrade to windows 10? Or, does
it come

installed with windows 10?

Windows 10 will use Spartan in the same way as prior versions used
Internet
Explorer. The

[JAWS-Users] Jaws 15 and Microsoft Sharepoint.

2015-04-23 Thread Tara Chavez
Hi all,
I never post here, but I joined this list a long time ago. I have a
question. I'm testing the accessibility of a web site on Microsoft
Share Point. I know it isn't completely accessible, but I wanted to
know if there was anything I could do to accurately test it for
accessibility using Jaws 15. I test for accessibility according to the
standards listed in section 508 of the Federal Rehabilitation act.
I look forward to any suggestions/recommendations you can provide.
Thank you,
Tara

2015-04-23 Thread Carolyn Arnold
They told me at FS, I believe $420 or maybe $480, and I could get some kind
of discount on the next three updates if I paid up front. I believe that is
right. Window-Eyes 9.1 is $895.

GIFT (God is forever true),
