Thanks Mike.

I just wanted to know if the line was correct.
I do not think the capital c: makes a difference or not, but I will
capitalize it.

thanks again...

Highlight the first song that you want to copy. Hold down the Control key,
and arrow down through the song list. JAWS will be announcing everything as
unselected. When you find another sond that you want to select, press the
space bar, and it will also be selected. Go on through the list selecting
the songs that you wish to burn, and when finished, press the letter C while
still holding down the Control key. You have copied only the songs that you
selected.

[JAWS-Users] Getting Stuck in Recently Visited Site List with IE 10 and 11

2015-07-23 Thread Terrie Terlau
Hello everyone,
I am currently using Internet Explorer 11 with 64 bit Windows 7. Before
answering, please read my View settings after the questions because turning off
the toolbars doesn't fix this:
Sometimes I get stuck in the list of recently visited websites. This list
begins with Address and Search using Bing (edit). Sometimes I can shift-tab or
control-left-arrow out of this list and back to the webpage, but sometimes I
can't. When I can't get out of this list, I try every possible arrow or tab key
combination that I can think of, and I am still stuck in the list. Sometimes I
can navigate out of this list to the Internet Explorer tabs, and can't get back
to the actual web page from its tab.
I have looked for Jaws or Internet Explorer keystrokes to get off a website tab
and into the page, with no luck.

In my View menu: Toolbars: the only check is by Lock the Toolbars. No other
toolbar is checked, so I assume they should not be present, but it appears that
the list of recent sites is definitely onscreen because I can get stuck in it.
Nothing is checked under Explorer Bars.
Zoom is 100%
Carrot Browsing is on.

I have this exact same thing happen on my home computer, also running Windows 7
64 bit.
I hope someone can shed some light on this. I need to be productive with
Internet Explorer and this problem really slows me down.
Thank you for any help you can give.

The best way to do this is as follows:
1. Control n to start a new message.
2.Control shift c to bring up the contacts.
3. type in the person you want to edit.
4. If you see the person you want to edit, smack enter to go into that

Hope this helps.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Getting Stuck in Recently Visited Site List with IE 10 and 11

2015-07-23 Thread Rose Combs
Yes, it is horrible, I see it almost daily! Jaws 16 and IE 11 and Windows 7
here, the whole internet experience has slowed down, lots of pages hang,
sometimes one has to wait for over a minute to get it to load, sometimes it
is blank and refresh will help, and it can be a page one has visited many
times. I find myself cursing the slowness and my speed seems to be normal
when tested. I truly dislike having to wait for several minutes to move
from one spot to another, especially when trying to make a purchase.
I had to reload amazon about 8 times yesterday, and trust me, I have been
there a lot over the years, it only gets worse with each update in my humble
opinion, and not on just one computer but my laptop also where it is
actually slower, and Jaws sound vacillates between audible and sounding like
I have earphones in almost from the speaker when I do not.

I do not plan to upgrade to 10 immediately, eventually, probably next year
some time, which means I will be on IE 11 for a long time, I note that if
someone is here and Jaws is not loaded they don't get stuck, hung up, or
have to start completely over, with shutdown and restart of the computer
from beginning and making sure no other app is open, even then it exhibits
the same behavior.
I need to expand my cursing category of words to keep from boring myself
throughout this clunky process. Same with Firefox I might add. I am paying
for top speed DSL, tired of spending hours, many starts and restarts to find
information or shop for what I need. Using the phone, as I have said
previously is my very last resort and often I will decide then to not even
bother.

I don't understand NVDA well enough to see if it works or Window Eyes,
although I have both on my computer to learn, play with. So far have not
done much with either on the net, Com on JAWS, I pay really good money to
keep up to date, I pay nothing for the other two, so I understand that they
may not be current or that they may be slower, or that keystrokes I have
used since 1998 may not be intuitive for me on other screen reading
programs.

Frustrated with this particular situation, computer is a year old with mega
memory more than 8 Gb, a terabyte hard drive, Windows 7, IE 11, Jaws 16
latest build released, use IE and Outlook 2010 many times a day, other
programs occasionally, up-to-date virus and malware protection. If this is
something I need to fix in registry, I need to know, in step fashion, what
to look for and what I need to change. I don't like regedit all that much,
but I do feel that given proper directions I could fix a problem or delete a
key, I have been there a couple of times, mostly in Windows XP years ago.

You could purchase just Word
2013 as a self standing piece of software, but you would come out better in the
end if you purchased an Office suite. You could get the Home and Student
version which will contain Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and One Note for a little
over $100. Word by itself will probably cost you this much, I have not checked
in years, but the last time I did, the different Office softwares as stand
alone applications were running $99.99 each. Then there is the Office 365
route. This is Office 2013 sold on a monthly subscription basis. You will
always have the latest version updated automatically, and for $6.95 per month
you can get the personal version which will include Word, Excel, and I believe
Powerpoint and maybe Outlook? but I am not sure about this one, but you do get
4 of the Office software packages with this subscription. To subscribe to this,
go to www.office.com, and sign into your Microsoft account, and there will be
an option to purchase Office 365 on the page somewhere. If you decide to
purchase an Office suite, then you will find better deals on the internet or
maybe at one of the chain type office supply stores. Try www.softwareking.com.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Protected Mode

I've received some lectures I need to read with JAWS. Am using Windows 7,
JAWS 15 and Word 2010. What are the keystrokes to disable protected mode?

Thanks!

[JAWS-Users] Power 1 2 3 on a 'new' computer?

2015-07-23 Thread Flor Lynch
Hi,

I’m using a Focus 14 Blue with an iPhone, and its serial no. is 5.71, so has
itself been updated to take advantage of Power 123 feature. I also have it
already Bluetooth-paired with an iPhone, where it has worked previously (and
will work again, O think) with a laptop. Now, this PC is not itself
Bluetooth-enabled. Using JAWS16 on this PC. What do I do to make it accept USB
while iPhone accepts Bluetooth? So far, the 1-2-3-+power button doesn’t change
from one to the other, but rather from the one I’m using to the Focus status
line. I tried the suggestion of setting it up in Bluetooth on my PC, but, thus
far, it hasn’t worked. The PC is Windows7, and, as I said, does not itself have
Bluetooth (if that’s relevant)? While connected to USB the display will read
off the iPhone screen, or, the JAWS screen, but not alternating with the
power123 switch between one and the other. Do I need to download the power123
firmware update, again, for this new computer? Even though the display already
has the firmware in it?

Re: [JAWS-Users] setting user as Administrator

2015-07-23 Thread Michael Boyd

Hi Kevin,

If you are running Windows 8.1, tAdding a enew user has to be done by
selecting Settings from the charms bar, then Change PC Settings. Now select
Accounts, and then Other Accounts. Select Add and follow the prompts to
create your new account.

To make the new account the administrator, highlight the account name, and
change the account type from the account type drop down menu.

To remove the old account, highlight the account that you want to remove,
then tab around until you find the Remove button and click this.

All of these steps are done from the Other Accounts window found through the
settings charm as described above. If you have any other questions, just
post them, hth.

I fixed the problem of no system sounds on my desktop by just creating a new
profile, but now I don’t have administrator rights. how can I set a user as
the admin? when I’m using the profile with system sounds and I go into
manage users all I see is standard user radio button checked and cancel.when
I go to manage all users all that’s displayed is the profile with the system
sounds and guest the profile without system sounds is not shown! I want to
delete the existing profile which is the admin and make the one with sound
the admin. is this possible to do without sighted help?
