[JAWS-Users] Jaws startup options
I think the problem of why Jaws would not start when I started the computer may have been solved. Seems as though the computer never shut down when I clicked the shutdown button. I am sure you have all heard the message about one program needs to be shut down when you shut down your computer. That program of course is Jaws and it is accompanied by a message on the screen like: One program remains to be shut down, “Jaws” Do you want to shut down any way? Press OK to force shutdown. In my case not being able to see this, my computer was in some kind of standby. Last night a friend clicked that OK button and this morning when I started the computer Jaws came up talking. Hi David, Thanks, Very nice work. I know personally how much time you spent making this guide. Thanks very much for helping all of the Jaws users in learning w-10. Love God! with your heart, mind, and soul, that you might be blessed reaching His goal. Love your Neighbor as you would yourself, God will truly reward you with good health. I received instructions on how to label links or buttons using insert f and going down to prompt/create. But can edit fields be relabeled? I am checking out a Windows 10 machine and the email fields say rich edit control instead of to, from, etc. And of course on the Web the edit fields on some sites are not announced. Is there a fix for this? Using both 16 and 17, and both versions read these email edit fields the same way. Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows 10 and Logos 3
It is pretty clunky but many things are accessable with Windows 7 and Logos 3. I bought the upgrade to Logos 4 but never used it because it was unusable. Sometimes I select a portion of a commentary and copy it to MS Word. I can then read the footnotes, etc. I don't do much of anything with original languages except search the Englishmen's Concordance from the NASB Bible. Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2010 In Safe Mode
Hello, This is caused by a bad update from Windows Update. See this news article which points to instructions about how to fix it. http://www.infoworld.com/article/3013219/microsoft-windows/microsoft-pulls-b otched-patch-kb-3114409-that-triggered-problems-with-outlook-2010.html The article says, Microsoft's Patch Tuesday update KB 3114409, intended to help admins keep Outlook 2010 from starting in safe mode, has in fact done just the opposite. Many Outlook 2010 customers report that installing KB 3114409 forces Outlook to start in safe mode. Re: [JAWS-Users] can form fields--edit fields--be labeled?
Thank you for suggesting I look into columns view. This did fix the order much better. But what happens is when opening a new message all the form fields say rich edit control instead of saying the to, CC and subject fields for composition of an email. I didn't know if this could be erased and new labels put in so it would say what the edit fields said before jaws 10. Thanks for any ideas. Re: [JAWS-Users] can form fields--edit fields--be labeled?
Hi Joanne, Do you have scripts copied / pasted into the ENU folders of the Jaws versions you're using? If so, look in Manage Applications Settings to see if the scripts for your email client are checked / running. I'm probably using the wrong computer lingo but, maybe it'll help. To get to the Manage Application Settingsdo the following: 1. Open Jaws Options with, Insert + J, if you run Jaws from the system tray. 2. Press enter on, Options. 3. Arrow up to, Manage Application Settings..., & press enter. You will now be in a list of items that are either checked or unchecked so, arrow down the list to see if Windows Mail or Outlook Express is checked. If not, press the spacebar to check it, & tab to Okay & press enter. Now see if this helps any. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 16 Language Changes
Hmmm, I'm just going to go out on a limb and guess as to why you get the language change when alt-tabbing? Have you looked in regional settings to see what language you have defined? You might also need to insure you have the correct location defined in that tab which is also in regional settings. - Original Message - From: Daniel L. With all the testing, I kept elequence and have to admit, it grew on me. Now, it is the only one I prefer and have not switched back, and don't plan on it either. Like I said in my original message, I just find it odd that once I had disabled the language detect setting in JAWS 15, the issue went away, but when I did the same change in 16, the issue is still there. [JAWS-Users] when updating McAfee internet security suite
I needed to stop the update because it was stuck . and the cancel button would not work so I had to shut down the computer and restart it again so the update would cancel out. Re: [JAWS-Users] when updating McAfee internet security suite Why do you want to stop the update? -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [ mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of anna vimini Sent: Monday, December 07, 2015 1:56 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] when updating McAfee internet security suite Hi Janie , I just figured out what you meant by saying this does alt f4 work? no alt F4 does not work it just closes the program off but the update does not cancel out. Thank you kind sir, you do good work. I probably shouldn't tell you that or you might get a swelled keyboard.
