Re: [JAWS-Users] How to select non-contiguous text

What I meant is not for copying and pasting. Here's the scenario. I
would like to select non-contiguous text in a large document to apply
format and attribute changes at ones. For sighted user, they simply
accomplish the task by holding down the control while selecting text
from different parts of the document using the mouse pointer. I don't
know if it is possible to do it solely with the keyboard.

Hi,
To copy one word at a time hold down the ctrl+shift key then right arrow for
all the words you want to highlight. As you arrow right Jaws will announce
the words that are being highlighted.

Then after you have highlighted just press the Ctrl+C to copy then go to
where you want to put the copied text and then just press the Ctrl+V to
paste it where you want them.

If you want to select all the words on a page just do ctrl+A then Ctrl+C to
copy then ctrl+V to paste.

Try taking advantage of the JAWS "append to clipboard" feature with JAWS
key+Windows key+c. As the name implies, text added to the clipboard doesn't
replace existing copied items, but adds to it.

This could work if you have noncontiguous words close enough together;
however, through a large document it will become tedious real fast.

Move word by word and hold down the shift key to select the word and when
you come across a word in the line to not select let up on the shift key.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Virtual Recorder

2016-04-23 Thread Mario
from what I understand, and I maybe wrong about this, but starting from
Windows Vista on up to 10, there is a feature that is native to the OS
called the WASAPI loopback feature, and it simulates the "what you hear"
or stereo mix that is not found in some sound cards. since most, if not
all laptops, lack the stereo mix feature, Virtual Recorder is able to
utilize the loopback (simulated) feature that's built in to Windows.
hence the name.

again, I could be wrong, and Virtual Recorder still rely on a sound
card's stereo mix or rarely also known as the audio mix feature. "what
you hear" is the trademarked name for stereo mix by Creative Inc., and
found in some of their sound cards.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws and itunes issue.

2016-04-23 Thread Justin McDevitt
Hello Listmembers:

Up until a week or so ago, the music tab (that is my entire song archives in
Itunes was at the top of a treeview. To move to Playlists, I arrowed down to
its position in the treeview. Now, in order to do this, I tab about 25 times
to Playlists. Also, on a related note, my general song titles are listed
under My Music, whereas until recently songs were listed under Music.

This may be the source of the issue, where there is a specific prompt or
keystroke to have my overall song titles re-grouped under Music.

I'm not sure that I've explained this issue adequately enough. Nonetheless,
any help would be appreciated.

Best to all, Justin

My sound card on my laptop doesn't support what you hear. This program
doesn't magically add it does it?

Just hoping.

I want to thank Cuong again for telling us about Virtual Recorder, a
simple,
easy-to-use and free audio recorder that enables us to use
Stereo-Mix or
What-you-hear, a feature that has all but disappear from modern
sound cards.
Virtual Recorder is a totally Jaws-accessible recorder that enables
us to

record tutorials, streams, Skype conversations, etc., created by Carlos
Nazario, seemingly of New York City.

Cuong has recently provided us also with his program to easily
install Jaws
scripts, another very useful tool, but this Virtual Recorder is
something we
have much needed since Win 7. I am a long-time, totally blind Jaws
user,

running an internet radio station, international in scope, so I record
through Skype almost daily; I use Total Recorder to do it, but it is a
rather complex program, not free and hard for some of our presenters
and
collaborators to use, therefore Virtual Recorder is very welcome.
My thanks

to Cuong and to Carlos.

Humberto

Hello David:

Yes, some sound cards allow you to enable Stereo Mix, but some do not, my
Realtech, for instance, does not. I have recorded tutorials with Gold Wave
and with Total Recorder, the latter more complicated to configure than the
former, but I use it for Skype calls, prefer it to MX Skype Recorder.

The beauty of Virtual Recorder, besides the price, that is free, is the
simplicity of use, something very desirable for us who have about 80
presenters and colaborators, with different degrees of computer skills.
Absolutely anyone can use Virtual Recorder and record their voice and Jaws
at the same time, as well as Skype calls, with good enough quality. Besides
being simple, it is totally accessible with Jaws and am sure, also with
other screen readers.

I have not tried it as of yet. I have been using gold wave for almost 11
years already and what really helped me out on windows 7 was when I found
out how to reveal the what you hear feature that is still available in many
sound cards but Microsoft has chosen to hide that by default.

That is why when I make a recording you hear me and JAWS at the same time. I
admit levels can sometimes be an issue, but that just takes a little
fiddling with the master volume control in the hope of getting them more or
less equal.

Hi Tom, I am using Windows 7, JAWS 17 and office 365 and I agree that problems
are minimal.
However, if you are using JAWS 16 with Office 365 that will be 2016 and I am
not sure if FS has pushed all of their fixes for Word, Excel, Outlook 2016 down
to JAWS 16 as they have made them for JAWS 17.
You might want to double check this with FS.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Virtual Recorder

2016-04-23 Thread Humberto Rodriguez

Humberto

I have not tried it as of yet. I have been using gold wave for almost 11
years already and what really helped me out on windows 7 was when I found
out how to reveal the what you hear feature that is still available in many
sound cards but Microsoft has chosen to hide that by default.

That is why when I make a recording you hear me and JAWS at the same time. I
admit levels can sometimes be an issue, but that just takes a little
fiddling with the master volume control in the hope of getting them more or
less equal.

Hi, I think it is Jaws 13. When I upgraded to windows7 I was using
Jaws14 & it worked.

I seem to recall that 11 was the first 64 bit version if memory serves.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Virtual Recorder

2016-04-23 Thread David Ferrin
I have not tried it as of yet. I have been using gold wave for almost 11
years already and what really helped me out on windows 7 was when I found
out how to reveal the what you hear feature that is still available in many
sound cards but Microsoft has chosen to hide that by default.

That is why when I make a recording you hear me and JAWS at the same time. I
admit levels can sometimes be an issue, but that just takes a little
fiddling with the master volume control in the hope of getting them more or
less equal.

I want to thank Cuong again for telling us about Virtual Recorder, a simple,
easy-to-use and free audio recorder that enables us to use Stereo-Mix or
What-you-hear, a feature that has all but disappear from modern sound cards.
Virtual Recorder is a totally Jaws-accessible recorder that enables us to
record tutorials, streams, Skype conversations, etc., created by Carlos
Nazario, seemingly of New York City.

Cuong has recently provided us also with his program to easily install Jaws
scripts, another very useful tool, but this Virtual Recorder is something we
have much needed since Win 7. I am a long-time, totally blind Jaws user,
running an internet radio station, international in scope, so I record
through Skype almost daily; I use Total Recorder to do it, but it is a
rather complex program, not free and hard for some of our presenters and
collaborators to use, therefore Virtual Recorder is very welcome. My thanks
to Cuong and to Carlos.

Regards,

Humberto

[JAWS-Users] Office 365 Accessibility

2016-04-23 Thread Tom Behler
Hello, everyone.

I am about to purchase a new laptop. It is a Windows 7 laptop, with a key
to upgrade to Windows 10 when I am ready to do so. I am currently using
Jaws 16.

I am trying to decide whether to go with the stand-alone Office 2016
package, or whether to take out a home subscription to Office 365.

Are there any known Jaws accessibility issues with Office 365, as compared
to the standard Office 2016 package?

Are there accessibility issues with the one drive cloud storage component of
Office 365?

Thanks for any input.

Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan

[JAWS-Users] windows mobile device center

2016-04-23 Thread Kimsan
Hi,

Does anyone have the slightest idea how to use windows mobile device center.
I'm trying to create a partnership between my braille sense u2 and my
windows 10 machine; however, using the jaws curser, and the OCR seems to do
nothing for me.

Thanks.
