Subject: [JAWS-Users] Recent Jaws issue with typing and focus jumping around

Hello list,

So I don’t know what I may have done, but for the last few days, I have been
experiencing an incredibly annoying issue with Jaws and composing Outlook
messages.

When I begin to type, the first few letters are spoken by jaws even though
I’ve always had this setting to echo speech off. The more frustrating thing
is that focus will jump around and what I type is spread out all over the
document. This is especially annoying when I’m working off a template text
and have to go hunt for the stray letters.

The thing is, if I type the first couple of letters and then erase them,
everything works fine.

I have to believe that in all my typing, I must have accidentally enabled
some sort of odd setting since this has only been a recent issue and I don’t
experience it in a standard Word document. Only in Outlook messages. My
version of Outlook is 2010 and my messages are set to HTML. I am using the
most recent version of Jaws 18.

Does anyone have an idea of what may be causing this issue or what setting I
might try to change to fix it? That or is there some sort of set to default
setting in Outlook for composing messages?

Thanks,

[JAWS-Users] A QUICK ACCESS TO ATTACHMENTS USING MICROSOFT OUTLOOK

2016-12-25 Thread John Justice
A QUICK ACCESS TO ATTACHMENTS USING MICROSOFT OUTLOOK
BY: JOHN JUSTICE

Outlook offers an easy way to view, read or save attachments. This
process works on any attachment, text or audio.
1. Open the e-mail message in Microsoft Outlook.
2. SHIFT+TAB to the list of attachments. That list will include the
message itself.
3. Use the right arrow to highlight the attachment to be read or
listened to
4. Press Enter to activate whichever app will be used to access that
attachment.

With audio attachments, the default player is Windows Media Player. For
Word documents, Outlook will open a Word based document in that environment
automatically.
If the attachment is in text format, Notepad is the default application.
NOTE: This process will not automatically save the attachment. It will
simply open it for you. To save the attachment, press CONTROL+S and follow
the prompts.
FORWARDING AN E-MAIL ATTACHMENT USING MICROSOFT OUTLOOK
Outlook will still show the list of attachments on a separate screen.
Focus on that screen and press Escape to close the display. To forward a
message including the attachment,
1. Return to the list of messages.
2. Press CONTROL+F to activate the Forwarding option
3. Type the destination e-mail address
4. Tab to the message body and press ALT+S to send the message.

[JAWS-Users] A REALLY DECENT SCANNER

2016-12-25 Thread John Justice
Hi group,

First of all, Merry Christmas to everyone.

Santa brought me a really nice flatbed scanner for Christmas. I didn't know
that they were still made.

This is an Epson Perfection. It has quite a few advantages over the older
scanners I have used.

First of all, the Epson Perfection no longer requires separate AC
attachments.

The disk holding the drivers will install automatically. It adds an icon to
your desktop for their built-in software package. However, it works quite
well with Open Book.

The scanner is small, light and very quiet.

For some scanning operations, I still prefer a flatbed scanner over the
Pearl Camera. What's more, this thing is now on sale at Best Buy for under
$100.

Re: [JAWS-Users] A REALLY DECENT SCANNER

2016-12-25 Thread Gene Warner

First off, I hope everyone is having a great Christmas day!

Aother very nice scanner is Canon's Canoscan 200LDE flat bed scanner.
It's small, light, and doesn't need separate AC power, it gets all the
power it needs through it's USB cable. And it works well with Open Book
which controls it directly, unlike OmniPage which always brought up the
scanner's user interface. When you tell Open Book to aquire a page, the
scanner starts scanning with no further input from you.

Very nice!

Cheers!

Hi.

Do you have maximized the document window?

If you have created a desktop icon for your Microsoft Word, open the
properties for the shortcut, and set it to run the program maximized every
time it start's.
Hope this can solve your problem.

Hi,

I am running JFW 18, Windows 10, and MS Word 2016.

When I open a document when another document is already open I have a lot of
trouble getting Jaws to focus on the newly opened document. Jaws+T says
that I am in the new document. However, Jaws will not read the document and
focus returns to the previous document.

Sometimes I can move the Jaws cursor to text in the newly opened document
and route the PC cursor to the Jaws cursor. However, this only works part
of the time.

Sometimes I can resolve the problem by alt-tabbing to another program and
then alt-tabbing back to the newly opened document. But, again, this works
only part of the time.

Sometimes I can resolve the problem by restarting Jaws.

I have tried going back to the default user settings (control+spacebar, Z).
That does not resolve the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas?
