Re: [JAWS-Users] Keyboard & JAWS
Sorry Folks, Posted the wrong Hi All, A little out of the ordinary, but we do need to have some fun from time to time! Enjoy! Keyboard For a computer programming class, running Windows 7 & Jaws 18, I sat directly across from someone, and our computers were facing away from each other. A few minutes into the class, she got up to leave the room. I reached between our computers and switched the inputs for the keyboards. She came back and started typing and immediately got a distressed look on her face. She called the teacher, Professor Ferrin, over and explained that no matter what she typed, nothing would happen. The teacher, Professor Ferrin, tried everything. By this time I was hiding behind my monitor and quaking red-faced. I started to type, "Leave me alone!" They both jumped back, silenced. "Whaa??", Professor Ferrin blubbered. Then I typed, "I said leave me alone!" The kid got really upset. "I didn't do anything to it, I swear!" It was all I could do to keep from laughing out loud. The conversation between them and Eloquence Beginner Highest, went on for an amazing five minutes. Me: "Don't touch me!" Her: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hit your keys that hard." Me: "Who do you think you are anyway?!" Etc. Finally, I couldn't contain myself any longer and fell out of my chair laughing. After they had realised what I had done, they both turned beet red. Funny, I never got more than a C- in that JAWS certification class, & I've now been put on moderated status, if not kicked off the list! Take care. Mike Sent from my iBarstool. Go Dodgers! [JAWS-Users] convert html to css
Is there a utility that will convert my html web page to css? I think that I have over 20 pages or files that would have to be manually rewritten. I stumble through html it would take me a very long time to try and rewrite in css. It would be nice if such an animal exists that it also would be jaws friendly. I would like to add the option for people to change both color and font sizes for readability. --- Please visit my web page It’s motivational, inspirational with a touch of humor There is also a very extensive resource list for the blind http://www.LennyMcHugh.com International Brotherhood of Magicians member #43990 For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Regarding your sideways desktop or view, as you heard from someone else, there's a shortcut key which is control+the arrow keys to rotate your screen, but you can also do this by going to your desktop and de-selecting anything that is currently highlighted by pressing control+spacebar. Once you've done this, you can press your applications key or shift+F10, and arrow down to "Display settings" and press enter. On a state web site I am encountering a toggle combo box button. When I land on it jaws says there are five options, use up and down arrow to choose. When I do this nothing happens, if I press enter on the toggle combo box button nothing happens. Is there a special command that will open the combo box? Re: [JAWS-Users] toggle combo box button
This is a new state web site for filing taxes. The problem may be with the web site. Sometimes pressing enter followed by alt down arrow works and sometimes it doesn't. It is very frustrating. Thanks! -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Adrian Spratt Sent: Monday, April 3, 2017 2:32 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] toggle combo box button After you press enter, are you then pressing alt-down arrow? Windows+B, takes you to the Notification chevron button, not ALT+B. Smiles. Your humble pinhead! Owner of the W-10 and Jaws Yahoo group! Regarding your hidden desktop, if you press alt+B, this is a Windows shortcut to take you to the system tray where you find the time and all the programs running on your computer in the background. Tabbing once from this point will take you to a button. Not sure what it'll say for you, but mine says "Show Desktop" and pressing enter on this button takes me directly to the desktop. I'm also curious as to what happens when you press the Windows hotkey of Windows+the letter M, or Windows+the letter D. Both of these keystrokes should take you to the desktop. In the resulting dialog box, tab to the combo box that says "Orientation" and press alt+down arrow to open the choices, then arrow up to Landscape or Portrait, depending on your preference. Tab to the apply button and press enter. Once you're done, just alt+F4 out of that window. Previous editions of Windows used to have the rotation option right in the first context menu, so you could make the changes that way, but alas, Windows has done away with this option. Hope this helps. Hi Scorpio, I've been studying your reply and, first, thank you for it. When I press the Windows M or B combination, nothing happens. It's like my screen is blank. The only way I can do anything is to do a Windows search and navigate that way. On 4/4/2017 11:58 PM, Scorpio wrote: There's a few ways to fix this. Hi Bill, Thank you for these suggestions which should work. In reading about the desktop, it looks like you have to click on something in the task bar to show the desktop and I'll need sighted help to do that. I'll definitely let you guys know when it's resolved. This latest Windows 10 update has definitely not been my friend on two computers, that's for sure.
