[JAWS-Users] ssl and google chrome

2018-04-04 Thread Lenny McHugh
Well, my informational only web page is now costing me another $120 for 2
years. I renewed my domain name and moved it to godaddy’s faster server
which is also a little more secure. I had a problem with the migration and
called for help. The young lady was fantastic in the help then gave me the
bad news about google chrome. Shortly they will require ssl verification for
every web page and if you do not have it the individuals trying to access
will get a security warning. She only told me about it now before they get
hammered with phone calls about the security errors.

Re: [JAWS-Users] VLC time jump question

2018-04-04 Thread JM Casey
The t key displays this information on the screen, however, JAWS will not
announce it. I suppose if one knew where the text was onscreen, you could
probably use the touch cursor to find it. I have tried with the JAWS cursor
before though with no luck. The thing is that the text is displayed quickly
and then disappears, so searching around for it is not really an option. It
would be something possible with scripting, I would think, but to my
knowledge there are no JAWS scripts for VLC at this time. I'm in the process
of learning about this and maybe one day I could create something, but for
now, it's still out of my league.

I believe there is an extension for VLC you can get that forces this data to
remain on the screen permanently. This might help for this purpose. I will
look into it. Alternatively, there might be a sneaky way to find out this
information, like winamp's ctrl-j command, which is meant for jumping to a
specific time, but when invoked, shows the current elapsed time as the jump
value if you don't type anything. I'm not quite sure.

Is there a keystroke or menu option in VLC to tell a person just how much
time has passed in the playing of a media file? I know how to jump forward
and back already, I would just like to know if there is a way to find this
information out.

I have some videos that are several hours long and I can't always watch them

Don't bother with the store app. Get the desktop app, which is also
available in 64 bit version. Get it from Video Lan's site.
https://www.videolan.org/

Once you have it up and running:
Open your video.
When it starts playing, hit alt-a for the audio menu. "audio track" is, I
believe, the first option. From there, you can select your desired audio
track, which I presume is the english dub of your movie.

Hi.

This is much easier to do in VLC. In fact, I have never successfully gotten
this to work in winamp at all. According to the winamp forum, it can be
done, but there are no clear steps, and apparently, it is also dependent on
your file format/decoding. But you could try this, and see if it works.

Open the video. Press the applications key, and go to audio track submenu.
Most likely, only one track will show, even if the container file contains
multiple audio tracks. Strangely, if you go to file info with alt-3, and
select the audio tracks tab, all audio tracks will show. But in my
experience, you cannot select them this way, either.

Try searching for a splitter plugin, if you want.

Or, just download VLC. Sorry, but it really is a better player for videos,
with much more under the hood and customisability. I say this as someone who
still uses Winamp for music playback, so it's not like I have anything
against the program. It's just that sometimes something that's advertised as
performing multiple tasks is really better at one than another.

Now, if anyone else has successfully gotten the audio track submenu in
winamp video play to work correctly, please do chime in, because I've been
curious about this since at least 2011.

As far as I know, winamp doesn't even have the ability to sync soft
subtitles with video. So again, it really doesn't seem well designed for
this purpose.

Perhaps that might be a part of the problem. Try switching to a different

language setting. I'm guessing that you are not using Vocalizer, as in order
for it to adopt Spanish pronunciation rules and voice, you would have to

Eloquence, Vocalizer, or something else, yes. I guess Eloquence is still the
default synth for jAWS. But the text you pasted from the Michael Danza
message above was in Indonesian. For some reason, Linkedin is set to display
your content in that language. You, or someone on your computer, must have
selected that language by mistake in your linkedin settings. I only used
Linkedin a bit. But if it's like Facebook, you can change the displaying of

Re: [JAWS-Users] Malware Question

2018-04-04 Thread Mike B.
Hi Gene,

What your Jaws is reading / seeing is a blank page over th top of your
desktop that only a screen reading can read, it's invisible to the human
eye. I showed this to MalwareBytes several months ago, & they were able to
get rid of it in Windows 7, but for whatever reason they haven't fixed this
blank page to sighted people, this annoyance page for blind people in
Windows 10. If you press, Jaws key + F10, to open the list of running
applications you'll see this entry there indicating that MWB is running in
the background & is also showing in the system tray. While you're on the
application tray window page, press Alt + F4 to close it, & it will
disappear, MWB will also disappear from the system tray, but MWB will still
be running in the background doing its job. If you turn off MWB from
showing in the system tray you will in turn stop this application tray
window / page from showing as well.

Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!
Sennt from my iBarstool.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] braille driver

Hi, I have had this message coming up for quite some time. For me it started
after I tried to install a braille driver for my braille display and even
though I followed all instructions I could never get the braille displays to
work. Now I am stuck with this braille driver error every time I load Jaws.
When it first happened to me I ask for suggestions but none of them worked.

Sorry not much help but if you do find an answer I would love to hear it.
