Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS sma question
I would also have him check with VFO because my SMA ran out with 18. When I called about getting one for 2018, they told me that I had to buy the current version of 2018 and an SMA for 2019 and 2020. This was going to cost me over $400, so he will definitely have to see what his situation is with them. Re: [JAWS-Users] calling from windows trashed computer
A few months ago, the city of Atlanta Georgia had its computer system high jacked that same way. The scammers said they would release the cities computers for 50 thousand dollars. Which would have been less expensive than having the system restored by legitimate means. The city didn't pay the scammers, however. They suffered much inconvenience, however. It makes us mere private citizens feel better. Knowing, this sort of thing can even happen to large cities. - Original Message - From: "JM Casey" To: Sent: Saturday, June 09, 2018 2:09 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] calling from windows trashed computer Hey. Re: [JAWS-Users] calling from windows trashed computer
This sounds like the ransom virus software that has been going around for the past couple of years. The people who are running this evil software take control of your computer operating system and will not release it until you have paid a ransom. Often the thieves want you to pay in bitcoin. This is very hard to overcome. This evil software has hit many industrial computers including government offices, hospitals and banks. It is a shame that this sort of thing continues. I think that the only way to defeat it once it is on your computer is to completely reformat the disk and re load the software. Backing up your, software and data, offline before the attack may be the best and, maybe the only, defense. A shame. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Mike B. Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS sma question
Hi Russ, Yes your friend should be able to upgrade to J2018 with no problems, but, he'll have to pay full price for the SMA being he didn't buy the upgrade SMA prior to January 1 of this year. On the other hand, if he purchases the SMA it'll be good for both J2018 & J2019. To be absolutely sure of his options he should call call them ath number below to make sure of his choices. [JAWS-Users] calling from windows trashed computer
A friend had his computer trashed by the calling from windows scam. He was not thinking when they directed him to the event viewer to show him problems. They installed some trash software that he must pay them to remove. He quickly turned off his computer while screaming at them. Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS sma question
Ask VFO, but I believe the condition is that the SMA be bought within two years of the previous SMA or JAWS purchase. Having JAWS 18 implies this criterion is met. But I may be overlooking something. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List On Behalf Of Russ Kiehne Sent: Saturday, June 09, 2018 9:14 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS sma question A friend of mine is using JAWS 18.
