Re: [JAWS-Users] [Bulk] selecting iTunes library?

2015-11-27 Thread Kliph
Yes, I am attempting to open iTunes with a different library. So I am holding
down the shift key, as I open iTunes, to choose my library. When I try to
select the library, it won’t open. Even when it asks for the name of the
library, I type it exactly as it appears, and still no go.

[JAWS-Users] selecting iTunes library?

2015-11-27 Thread Kliph
Okay, I already have an iTunes library created with media already in it. And I
am trying to choose it with jaws, but whenever I select it, and even put the
exact name of the library in the box, it says library not found. What is the
secret to choosing my iTunes library?

Well, I have never had any issues reading mail on the site. You gett to the
messages easily with x for check boxes, the subject is a link, you hit enter on
it, and it puts you right at the text of the message. JMO

Re: [JAWS-Users] account question for outlook.com

2015-10-22 Thread Kliph
Outlook.com is the most accessible web based mail I have ever used. It was
clunky and almost unusable when it was live, and hotmail. But since they
switched to outlook, the home page is cleaner, you can remove adds, and I have
been able to create and delete alias email accounts, send from my other
accounts, and even create and delete mail boxes. So to say outlook is not
accessible is not accurate. If you need some tips because you have never used
it, then let us know and we can help. But I use outlook.
com every day, and yahoo, and even gmail can’t say there
interface is as clean or screen reader friendly. JMO

The iCloud.com website is no where near accessible. I

Re: [JAWS-Users] How to approve or reject the googlegroup request usingjaws?

2015-01-14 Thread Kliph
I use it every day, but it’s not with jaws. Try hitting x for check box, and
see if there is a check box to select, if there is, then check it, then go back
up to the approve members button, that box needs to be checked in order for the
aprove button not to be dimmed.

That all depends on how high or low you have your verbosity set. If you have
it on low, then it will not announce if the check box is checked. If you have
it on medium or high, then it will indicate if it is checked or not. HTH

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2010: Trouble reading email

2011-01-28 Thread Kliph
No, jaws works perfectly with outlook 2010, except you can't hear the change
of the send from account. Just turn off your preview pain, and uncheck to
show in groups. Unless you like seeing your messages in conversation.
After you do these 2 things, you should be able to read email just fine.

Hi:

I installed Outlook 2010 but had to uninstall it due to problems reading
e-mails.
When I opened a message I couldn't navigate/read the message body using the
arrow keys / standard JAWS reading commands.
But if I routed JAWS to PC I could read the message with the JAWS cursor.

I'm now back with Outlook 2007 and all works fine again.

I'm running JAWS 12.0.525 on Windows 7 64-bit.
Is it just me?
Could it be related to the fact that the particular machine uses Intel
graphics?
I normally use a computer with a NVIDIA video chip.

Or does JAWS still have issues with Office/Outlook 2010?

[JAWS-Users] Windows media center, and internet TV?

2011-01-27 Thread Kliph
So, I tried the media center thing today, and couldn't really find my way
around it. Started watching a show on CBS, and it stopped in the middle.
Plus, I couldn't find how to switch to a different network. So anyone who
knows there way around windows media center please email me at

Or click the link in my signature for face book and chat with me there. The
other thing I was looking in to is cutting out the overpriced cable I pay
for each month. So I searched for premium TV on PC. Since I have the
capability to put whatever is on my PC, on to my HDTV, I think this would be
a much more affordable option. So upon searching for this I came across the
following article:
http://consumersguides.org/satellite_tvm.htm
It claims that most companies are ripping you off, the channels they provide
aren't live, and the picture isn't what they promise. They give 3 companies
that they have chosen from the hundreds they have reviewed. I found 1 they
didn't review, who claims to be licensed and legal to sell these 5000
channels, for a 1 time fee of 40 bucks, with a sixty day money back
guarantee. There web address is:
http://www.premiumtvforpc.com/?hop=tina404
Says there is some software to download, and also claims you can download
and watch later. Thoughts, suggestions?

Hi all,

I need to modify a merge document in MS Word 2007. I need to remove two of
the data fields and add a new data field. I still need the document
to be able to merge with a data file.
Would anyone know the best way for me to accomplish this. It has been a
long time since I set up a merge letter and I have never done it in Word
2007.
I probably won't need step-by-step directions, but I won't turn them down
either.

Thanks,
Kurt

Hi Patti;

Below are 2 different things to stop Jaws from saying that superscript crap.

Open the Microsoft Word Configuration Manager. Use Insert with F2 to bring
up the list of managers and then press C until you get to the Configuration
Manager. Press enter to open the Microsoft Word.JCF file. Press Alt with S
to bring up the settings menu and then use the down arrow key to find the
"Text processing" choice and press the enter key. In the resultant dialog
box use the tab key until you get to the "enhanced edit support" checkbox
and press spacebar to uncheck the box. Use the tab key to move to the OK
button and press enter. Use CTRL-S to save changes and close the Microsoft
Word.JCF file.

The above should stop JAWS from announcing the superscript and subscript
text attributes. The enhanced edit mode is checked by default in the
Microsoft Word.JCF settings but not in the Default.JCF.

If you don't want Word to use the superscript then you can also do the
following: (this is for Word 2003).

1. Open the tools menu with Alt-T.
2. Use the up arrow key to move to the "AutoCorrect options" menu choice
and press enter.
3. Use your tab key to move to the page tabs and then use the right arrow
key to move to the "auto format as you type" page.
4. Use the tab key to move into a list of choices.
5. Use down arrow key to move to the "ordinals with superscript" choice and
uncheck it by using the spacebar.
6. Use the tab key to move to the OK button and press spacebar.

The above is only if you want to change the way Word replaces ordinals with
the superscript attribute.

Hope this helps. Take care.
Mike

Itunes has been very jaws friendly since version 10 and up. You can use the
tab key to get around, and even put your searches in a list view by using
F6. Jonathan Mosen does a great pod cast on Itunes with jaws. You can find

Although I can't find my Jaws 10 and 11 CDs so am using 9 which also does
not play well with iTunes, and so can't help you, I can share your
frustration!
Wouldn't you think sometime between about Jaws 7 and now someone would have
made iTunes accessible and easy to use? Either Apple maybe with an alternate
logically organized and simplified site or maybe Freedom Scientific working
with the current site?

We have a simplified already accessible search engine like google by means
of the Research feature which is already about as accessible as a Web site
can be but are left unable to use something like iTunes, something one might
expect a lot of blind people with a full spectrum of computer skills to want
to access.

Can they be collaborating with Apple to drive us from Microsoft and Windows
or maybe to change over to another screen reader? Surely not!

What ever the business strategy might be isn't obvious to me at least but I
think I am beginning to get some sense of it.

If you do find an answer please share it with the rest of us.

Have you tried using the program without the scripts? As I mentioned
yesterday, I used MP3 Direct Cut quite extensively a few years ago, without
any scripts and it worked perfectly well with Jaws 6.2. It is a simple
program, which is used with either standard menus or single letter keyboard
commands. If I recall, the only area that required using the Jaws cursor
was setting some of the options in the preferences dialogue.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Why I am not going to use JAWS

Hello all.
I will publicly state why I am refusing to use JAWS. It is Freedom
Scientific's attitude towards pricing and their license schemes. Some of us
can't or won't afford to buy JAWS, especially if the free one is just as
good as JAWS. As for the license scheme, the user is punished to license
JAWS on up to three machines. With the free and even other commercial screen
readers one can install on as many computers as they have so long as one
machine is used at a time, no questions asked. With JAWS, once all three
authorizations have been used they would then have to request FS for more
keys. Eventually and I will say eventually they will refuse flat and get
paranoid about people sharing authorization keys. I understand piracy and
all that and I certainly don't commit to any of that stuff however at the
same time FS is just asking for money and not caring about the customer.
True there is a dongle option, but even they can have their fair share of
problems. Now for the technical, I do find the free one to be actually more
stable and even works with more applications than JAWS. You may find this
shocking but this is true according to my personal experience.
Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2010

2010-12-18 Thread Kliph
I am using 2010, I don't have a tutorial, but I have a few things that might
help you.
1. Turn off the preview pain in every folder, to do this, hit alt V then the
letters p and then n, once you do this, just arrow down to off and hit
enter.
2. Uncheck for messages to be shown in groups, to do this, hit alt V then
the letters A and then B, then arrow down until you hear messages shown in
groups, the default is for this to be checked, so just hit enter, and it
will uncheck them for you.\
Lastly, you can still use control y to cycle through your folders, but
another way this can be done is by hitting shift tab, and then use your
arrow keys. If you have any more questions, my contact info is below.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2010

Hi List:

Does anyone know a good tutorial for the computer illiterate for Outlook
2010?

I have been using XP-Home and Outlook Express with JAWS 10 for years.
However, I am now using a new laptop with Windows 7 and JAWS 11. Outlook
Express is no longer an option and the Live Mail program that came installed
is beyond me so I downloaded a demo of Outlook 2010 and am trying to learn
it but its help menu keeps going out of focus, the delete key and the key
between the insert and enter keys of the number pad don't seem to work and
control+delete is silent all of the time when I try to delete incoming
messages with it and sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I would like to
try Windows Mail that seems to be a part of Vista (I never did use a
computer with Vista) but have no idea how to put it on a computer with
Windows 7.

Any thoughts on what to do to transfer from being a user of Outlook Express
to becoming at all conversant with Outlook 2010 would be most appreciated.
To reiterate, I am using a laptop with a desktop keyboard with Windows 7,
JAWS 11 and Outlook 2010.

Thanks.

2010-12-18 Thread Kliph
Hello, this morning I updated to the latest version of Jaws, after doing
this, my ribbons in outlook 2010 didn't behave the same. I can no longer
hit alt F then the letter T to get to my general, email, advanced, and so on
options. I have to hit alt, then move to the file tab, and then it's just
acting straight weird! And no I don't have the vertical ribbons on. Can
someone tell me where I might have changed something? Thanks.

I am using JAWS 12 with Office 2010 Professional. The JAWS scripts have the
necessary include and use statements for working with WWLIB.DLL. If you
hold down the JAWS key and press Q twice, you will get something like the
following:

"JAWS Settings Information:
Microsoft Word 2010 settings are used in the wwlib.dll application.
The configuration name is Microsoft Word 2010.
The current scheme is Classic."

This might be different if your student is using an older version of JAWS.

[JAWS-Users] ITunes burning software missing?

2010-09-06 Thread Kliph
I have had this problem for almost a week now, and I'm about to throw my
hands up. I can download music from the ITunes store, but it won't let me
burn it to a CD. It says that some CD burning soft ware is missing,
something about bonjewer folder missing. I have uninstalled, and
reinstalled twice, went to the control panel to repair it, and have even
tried repairing it from the apple website itself. And it's still giving me
this error message whenever I open up iTunes, or try to burn a CD, can
someone please tell me what to do next? Even contacted apple support, and
they gave me some links that didn't even pertain to my problem.

[JAWS-Users] Reading HTML emails with jaws 12?

2010-09-03 Thread Kliph
Hello, with jaws 11 and before, in outlook when you got a email that was
HTML, you could hit alt h then xv, to read a HTML message. Now that isn't
the case. Could someone please tell me how it is done now?

Hi Roseanna,

If you just want to add someone's email address from an email you just
received, then with the email open, press and hold down the "left alt key"
and follow this with pressing the number 1 just above the letters twice
quickly. Now press the application key and from the resulting menu choose
"add to outlook contacts"
A new contact page will pop up containing the persons email address and if
you wish you can insert extra information about the person. When finished
just press alt + F4 to close and answer yes to have it saved in your
contacts list.

Paul.

HI

At least in the Outlook 2010 beta, to select which e-mail account to send a
message, do the following. When positioned in the send/to field, press
shift+tab 4 times until you reach the From button. Press enter. Route JAWS
cursor to PC cursor Move the JAWS cursor one word to the right and you will
be at the top of the list of e-mail accounts. Arrow down to the account you
want and press enter. To verify you've got the right account, do another
route JAWS cursor to PC cursor and do a say line.

The biggest problem I've had with the Office 2010 beta since JAWS 11.0.1430
came out with scripts for Office 2010 is that often in outlook and word
2010, when I do a Say All, it will only read one line and then stop.

I have put
entries in my own confignames.ini file to use the Office 2007 scripts for
office and word. Say All works much better with those scripts.

Hello Kliph,

Have you installed version 2.32? The reason I am asking is that I had
version 2.29 and the item state was not being read to me. I started to
write a script but then I decided to download version 2.32 and the item
state is now being read by JAWS. If you use the JAWS cursor, the graphic
793 by an item indicates that it is checked and 792 indicates that it is not
checked. You can move to the graphics with the JAWS cursor and use the
graphics labeler. Label 793 as "checked" and 792 as "unchecked." I found
that using the invisible cursor with the up and down keys spoke the state
after labeling, but of course, you would have to put PC cursor back on
before changing the state of the item. Again, a simple script could be used
to have JAWS speak the item state using the PC cursor, but if you don't have
version 2.32 then I suggest you try updating to that version first.

Take care.

Cleaner, and going down the list, jaws isn't saying checked or unchecked.
So I don't know what is selected. How can I make jaws tell me if the box is
checked or unchecked? It works just fine on my vista PC.

Ok, I will sure try this. Now, what view do I need to change? Sure I
navigate your messages better. The one thing I couldn't figure out, is how
to read HTML messages. In 2007, it's alt h x then v, but in 2010 I haven't
found it yet. Also, no command for switching what account to send from, it
says alt M, but Jaws doesn't allow you to change it. By default, it will
send from what ever accounts folder you are in. Hope this helps, and please
let me know what you figure out.
could figure it out, but I'd like to test Outlook as part of my sixty
day trial of Office Professional. Many thanks.

Outlook works okay, instead of tabing to go through your folders, you shift
tabb, this is after making some miner adjustments to the view. Only thing I
haven't figured out, is how to choose what account to send from. Right now
you send from the folder's account you are in, but it doesn't allow you to
switch on the fly. If I could fix this, then everything would be peachy!

Hi Kim,

I really don't know why WinFF wouldn't work well with earlier versions of
JAWS for Windows. I haven't used Goldwave and so I am not familiar with its
converting operations. A lot of people on this list use Goldwave, and if it
is working for you then you might not need to change. I will leave the
program in my drop box for a couple days so feel free to download it and try
it out if you want to. You can easily uninstall it using add/remove
programs in XP or Programs and Features in Vista or Windows 7.

Have a great rest of the long weekend!

Take care.

Have you used the chat recently using I.E. 7? I would have never upgraded to

I.E. 8 but everytime I would go into chat I kept getting redirected to
another window. Once in that other window I would scroll down and find the
person I wanted to chat with and pressed enter. After pressing enter I found

the person's name below the chat area and directly under that was a graphic
of some sort that read the words pop out or pop in something to that nature.

I clicked on that graphic and the chat window would close leaving me with
the choices of people to chat with and no window to enter my text. Should
you have any suggestions please feel free to share with me thank you. Also I

want to add I checked underneath as far as I could go and nothing in that
seperate chat window.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] FACEBOOK ISSUES: ACCESSING THE CHAT FEATURE

Re: [JAWS-Users] windows 7 why

2010-04-15 Thread Kliph
Now, this is just my opinion. Windows 7 is much faster, secure, and easier
to navigate. If you can't find it, just type it in the surch box and after
a few letters, it will give you some choices. Another reason is, support
for XP is suppose to be going away in 2011, but they have moved this date
more times than I care to count. Now let me warn you, coming from XP to
windows 7, there will be a significant learning curve, but once you get the
hang of it, it will be easy. I went from XP to vista then windows 7, so it
was a little easier for me. Good luck, and remember, these are just my
opinions based on what I've learned and experienced over the last 6 months,
and 3 months before that on the Release canadate. Good luck in your choice.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Help with facebook crashing

2010-04-06 Thread Kliph
The main page takes very long to load because of all of the graphics,
advertisements, and extra content. The m.facebook.com, and the
lite.facebook.com site works better and loads faster because of less
content. If you want to use the regular site, you will have to listen for
the status to make sure the page is fully loaded before you try and update
your status or anything else.

Well, to clear out the text, just push control A, and then hit delete, as
for getting to the field to edit, the quickest way would be to shift tab 3
times, and you should be in the place to add the text.

1. How do you clear the contents of an existing signature in Outlook 2007

I have new text I want to copy into an existing signature. Currently I use
the backspace key to remove the contents, then paste in
my new text. I want a faster way to remove the contents, so I can paste in
the new contents.

2. Is there a hot key to jump to the signature text to edit, instead of
tabbing until I get to the edit field?
Thank you,

He will send you a CD rom with a whole library of bible resources. About 30

There is even a few books such as the five love languages, the purpose

Yes I said free! All you have to do is let them know that your blind and
use a screen reader, and he will rush the resource CD rom out to you. And
the website is

I think Netflix currently has over 100,000 titles. Only about 20,000 are
available for streaming. The President of the company, however, is a devout

believer that streaming is the future and is personally pushing this
direction.

Depends on what you want. I pay 15 bucks a month, but I get unlimited
online playing of movies, unlimited streams to my blu-ray player or xbox360,
and unlimited movies mailed to me 2 at a time. There are plans as low as 5
dollars a month, but I think you only get 1 movie at a time, and there is no
online or streaming with that one.

Press insert V and arrow down to flag status to make sure what information
you want to know is turned on.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007- Reading Status of Messages

Hello,

How can I read the status flag of an email message in Outlook 2007 with JAWS
11?
Example: when I set follow up flag to be complete.

I can use control-insert-4 and JAWS reads, "flag status" but does not tell
me what the status is. It will also work if I can get
JAWS to read the status of each message as I go through my mail.

Thank you for any help.

Bill

[JAWS-Users] CD Rom?

2009-12-11 Thread Kliph
is there any special adjustments that I need to make in order for Jaws to
work with a CD rom? What I mean, is that I am going to be receiving some
resources that have been loaded onto a CD rom, and actually a whole book is
available on this Rom, will I be able to read it with jaws? Or is there
even a way to make it in to a word document or be laid out to be easier to
navigate? Thanks in advance.
