Re: [JAWS-Users] IE 8 and menu bar problem
Gerald, I suggest you pass your information to tech support at Freedom Scientific. When I contacted them a few months ago, they said Jaws 9 does not support I.E. 8. It's fine to have your anecdotal information, but I don't think you're in a position to make a claim different of that of F.S. At 09:56 AM 5/11/2011, you wrote: I hate to keep sounding like a broken record, but IE 8 works just fine with JAWS 9. The key is that you must have the latest build of JAW 9 which is 2191U. The only JAWS feature that does not work is read Address Bar (JAWS key-A), which is really no big deal. I have been using JAWS 9 with IE 8 every day for over two years and have yet to encounter any serious compatibility issues. Gerald - Original Message - From: Norma A. Hey listers, I am dealing with a new Dell PC with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. First problem I noticed was that Narrator, although loaded, does not speak. I didn't start having this problem until I connected my VR Stream (running firmware update 3.03) to my PC to download a book from NLS. I got the balloon that the driver had been installed successfully and did my download. However, when I tried to eject my Stream in the system Tray, I received an error that a problem had occurred. The first time this happened, I was able to manually eject my stream successfully, but I had to disconnect it in a subsequent attempt later today. After I disconnected my Stream, I used the Windows Key +E key to run Windows Explorer as usual, but I received a message saying something about Windows Explorer not working. This seems to happen intermittently, but it is definitely connected with my VR Stream drivers and possibly Windows Live as Well. I've reported this issue to FS, but just wondering if anyone else has had this issue with Windows 7. FYI- I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit on a custom built system with an Intel 2.4 GHZ Quad Core processor with 4.0 GB of Ram, and NVIDIA Geeforce 8800 -GT Video card and an NVIDIA Nforce motherboard with an N-780I chipset. I did an in-place upgrade, which I realize isn't recommended but I haven't had any major issues and this one is fairly minor. The only workaround I've found is to close out JAWS and use Narrator to get to the system tray and eject my Stream from there. Any experiences would be greatly appreciated. Best, Chris.
