Hi Dwight,

Jaws 9 does not support I.E. 8. although some claim to have them
working fine together, I had a lot of trouble with the combination,
so much so I had to roll back to I.E. 7. I'm afraid that's your only
option, besides upgrading Jaws, of course.

Gerald, I suggest you pass your information to tech support at
Freedom Scientific. When I contacted them a few months ago, they
said Jaws 9 does not support I.E. 8. It's fine to have your
anecdotal information, but I don't think you're in a position to make
a claim different of that of F.S.

JAWS 9. Maybe the folks who claim that IE 8 doesn't work with JAWS
9 did not have the latest build installed. The only JAWS feature
that does not work is read Address Bar (JAWS key-A), which is really
no big deal. I have been using JAWS 9 with IE 8 every day for over
two years and have yet to encounter any serious compatibility issues.

sloshing against the beach. Which is nice, but hardly worth the
money. Anyway, Jaws is loaded, but no speech. I do have Windows

as though it is a text to speech problem, but I'll be danged if I can
figure out how to resolve it. As usual, all suggestions and advice

2009-12-03 Thread Norma A. Boge

Hi everyone,

Just last night I heard a computer tech on a radio show talk about
www.backblaze.com. I have no idea about how this service works with
Jaws, but it might be worth checking out. A tag from their site says
Backblaze online backup encrypts and uploads all your data – no
questions asked. No picking files. No digging through folders.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Issue with Windows 7 Explorer, JAWS 11 and possibly the drivers for my Victor Reader Stream

Hi Christopher,

Are you having this issue when you try to put the book directly on
the SD card? It may not resolve your issue, but at least you can be
reading the book with your VRS.

Hi folks. I'm wondering if some of you might have any ideas about a
problem that just popped up today with Windows Explorer in Windows 7
Ultimate and JAWS 11.

I did an in-place upgrade from Vista Ultimate SP1 32 bit to Windows
7 Ultimate. Everything went without a hitch except for one minor
thing with Windows Explorer. I didn't start having this problem
until I connected my VR Stream (running firmware update 3.03) to my
PC to download a book from NLS. I got the balloon that the driver
had been installed successfully and did my download. However, when I
tried to eject my Stream in the system Tray, I received an error
that a problem had occurred. The first time this happened, I was
able to manually eject my stream successfully, but I had to
disconnect it in a subsequent attempt later today.

After I disconnected my Stream, I used the Windows Key +E key to run
Windows Explorer as usual, but I received a message saying something
about Windows Explorer not working. JAWS didn't speak this message,
but I have enough usable vision to see at least that part of the
message. I checked my event logs, and the following application error occurs:

Faulting application name: explorer.exe, version: 6.1.7600.16404,
time stamp: 0x4a765076

Faulting module name: FSDomNodeUIA.DLL, version: 10.19.737.0, time
stamp: 0x4adfaa45

Exception code: 0xc005

Fault offset: 0x7624

Faulting process id: 0xdec

Faulting application start time: 0x01ca59ba492ee680

Faulting application path: C:\Windows\explorer.exe

Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Freedom
Scientific\Shared\FsDomSrv\2.0\FSDomNodeUIA.DLL

Report Id: 1d9df260-c5b0-11de-957f-00044b152ec0

The error message- which seems to appear as a dialog box, hangs for
about ten seconds and closes- after which I can do another Windows
Key + E and bring up Explorer normally. This seems to happen
intermittently, but it is definitely connected with my VR Stream
drivers and possibly Windows Live as Well.

I've reported this issue to FS, but just wondering if anyone else
has had this issue with Windows 7. FYI- I'm running Windows 7
Ultimate 32 bit on a custom built system with an Intel 2.4 GHZ Quad
Core processor with 4.0 GB of Ram, and NVIDIA Geeforce 8800 -GT
Video card and an NVIDIA Nforce motherboard with an N-780I chipset.
I did an in-place upgrade, which I realize isn't recommended but I
haven't had any major issues and this one is fairly minor.

The only workaround I've found is to close out JAWS and use Narrator
to get to the system tray and eject my Stream from there. Any
experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Chris.
