[JAWS-Users] problem on webpages

2014-08-09 Thread Raggedy Ann
I have been having a difficult problem with IE 10 and 11 and I'm not certain if
it is a JAWS issue, an IE issue or a Windows 7 problem.

When on webpages, especially when trying to download or get back to the page, I
get locked into a menu bar which will not read or close. I go to the "switch
to" option and it puts me right back into the menu bar.

JAWS won't read, the page won't show, although I can sometimes get JAWS cursor
to read it, but the PC cursor will not focus to JAWS and I can't click on any
links.

I've tried refreshing the screen and that doesn't help either.

This also happens when I close a webpage or folder on the computer. It will
immediately go to the menu bar, but I can minimize to the desktop and that
fixes the problem. This does not fix the problem if I am trying to work on a
webpage, however.

I am using both JAWS 14 and 15 and have the same issue with both versions.

Does anyone know the cause for this and how to fix it? I'm ready to smash my
computer!

Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] problem with OE reading folders

2014-07-20 Thread Raggedy Ann
I have a problem with JAWS suddenly not reading "unread" and the number of
unread messages when arrowing down the list of folders.

If I go into a folder, it read "unread" just fine. How can I correct this? I'm
using JAWS 14.

[JAWS-Users] problem with Word 2003 professional & Windows 7

2014-01-22 Thread Raggedy Ann
I am using JAWS 15 with Windows 7 Pro and Word 2003 Pro. Even though the
default setting is set to save my documents as .doc files, for some reason,
it saves them as .doc.xml files. Why is this and how can I change it?

Thank you.

Go to the top, there should be a "download button" there.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 15 question

When trying to download a pdf document from my banking website with JAWS 15,
I find it will not download, but rather opens on the website when I use
enter or spacebar,, and when going to the context menu, there is no option
to "save target as."

However, when I switch to JAWS 14, the option to save target as is in the
context menu and I can download the document. How can I fix this issue in
JAWS 15 so I don't have to keep switching back and forth?

Thank you.

Hi Ann,

You probably need to install the compatibility pack available from the link
below.

http://www.jaws-users.com/programs/Productivity/FileFormatConverters.exe

Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 and
2010 File Formats.
Open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations in the file
formats new to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007and 2010.

After installing this I was able to open older docunents using Office 2010.
HTH

Take care.
Mike

I am trying to open an older word document, but get the following message:

Microsoft Office Word
You are attempting to open a file that was created in an earlier version of
Microsoft Office. This file type is blocked from opening in this version by
your registry policy setting.
OK

Does anyone know where I can change this policy setting? I am using Windows

Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] 15 Beta and the enter key

2013-10-25 Thread Raggedy Ann
Has anyone noticed any difference when trying to access links on a webpage
after changing the function of the enter key from left click to enter? I
still cannot access the links I need on Yahoo or on my Skype account page.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks.
