Re: [JAWS-Users] WIN10 upgrade advice from our computer people
I notice everyone's situation is different when it comes to upgrading to Windows 10 so its best you do your homework before taking the plunge. My all-in one printer is 4 years old so got to find out if there's a Windows 10 driver available. I would hate to upgrade only to find out I have to go out and purchase a new one. Also using Open Book 9.0. Is that compatible with windows 10? How about Microsoft Office 2007? These are my issues that is holding me back from upgrading to Windows 10. Place your cursor on column P. ALT-h O and down arrow to hide/unhide menu and hit spacebar. Highlight unhide columns and enter. Only column P will be unhidden. Reese - Original Message - My problem is that I have multiple columns hidden in a spread sheet, for example columns B to p. So I want to unhide only column p. How do I do that? When I am on column q and hit shift left arrow and select unhide columns from the menu it unhides all the columns b-p. the same happens if when on column A and I hit shift right arrow and then select unhide columns all the columns from b to p get unhidden. Re: [JAWS-Users] Selecting multiple columns or rows in Excel 2007
Hi: Place your cursor in column B then hit SHIFT-right arrow to select both columns B and C. ALT-h O and down arrow to hide/unhide menu and hit spacebar. Highlight unhide columns and enter. Hope this helps. Reese - Original Message - Hello everyone, I am using Jaws 12.0.1170 on a windows 7 64 bit machine. I cannot figure out how to select multiple columns or rows to insert, or unhide. For example if I am on column A and columns b- e are hidden and I want to unhide just column B and C I don't know how to do that. When I use control+left arrow to highlight column A to column E and then hit alt h,o,u and select unhide columns of course I unhide all the columns from B to E, not just B and C. Can anyone tell me how to just unhide the columns I want and not the whole range? For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws 12 and excel 2007
Hi Kathy: Try using auto-fit column width and wrap text commands and then print your spread sheet to see how it looks. Hope this helps. Reese - Original Message - I have a few questions, in excel and using jaws how can I use jaws to know if I have enough space for my information in my cells. In a particular colun, each cell is set 215 inches wide, but when I print it cuts part of my words off. I have a total of 12 words in this particular cell. If I use wrap will that take care of it. Grant: There's no way of telling how Jaws will perform using any Companies system until its put to the test. Its best to get your States technology department to test it out. Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS and Blank PDF Documents4
Thanks. I have been wondering what was the purpose of the freedom import printer and now I know. Reese - Original Message - Open Book has this capability. When you are in Adobe, use Control P to print. But instead of the default printer, you should find, Freedom Import Printer. When you choose this printer to print to, Open Book will start, scan the pdf file as if it were a paper file in your scanner, and hopefully leave you with readable text. Be patient, it may take a couple minutes for Open Book to boot and start scanning. Blessings, Tom For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Ann: Thanks for the tip on removing objects within word. I was able to remove the object and insert my Companies logo instead. Thanks! Reese - Original Message - Press control-shift-o to get to the list of objects and press enter on the one you want to remove. Then delete everything between the word before the object and the word after. Then, of course, insert a space between them. Re: [JAWS-Users] finding objects within word 2007
Thanks Ann: I was able to find and highlight the objects on the page and delete the one's I no longer needed. Reese - Original Message - If you press enter on the objects in the list from control-shift-o, you should be on the object. JAWS won't always tell you that. How I get rid of them is to delete everything to the right and left of the cursor, a character at a time. Then I replace any spaces I might have wiped out. then I go back to shift-control-o and see if the result has changed. It has been my experience that although JFW reports on the objects in the list, it doesn't indicate when the cursor is on them. Brian: thanks very much for the work around. I am now able to view messages through the browser that maybe otherwise looks like its in table view. Reese - Original Message - Hello Reese, I am not sure that this problem has been resolved yet. Here are some suggestions: One workaround for HTML messages that JAWS won't read correctly in Outlook 2007 is to have your browser read the message. Use Alt followed by H followed by X followed by v. The H moves focus to the message tab, the X activates the other actions button, and the V opens the message in the browser. Re: [JAWS-Users] external harddrive question
Make sure the drive is turned on. And plugged in. Also, you might have to use the CD software that came with it in order for windows to detect it. Hope this helps. Reese - Original Message - hi there listers I need help with getting my external harddrive to work and its driving me crazy, here is the problem I plug my harddrive into the USB and i don't hear anything like a new device has been plugged in or something like that so anyone can help me please? thanks cheers Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: http://www.jaws-users.com Visit the Blind Computing home page at: http://www.blind-computing.com Address for the list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To post to this group, send email to jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help from Mailman with your account Put the word help in the subject or body of a blank message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Use the following address in order to contact the management team [EMAIL PROTECTED] If you wish to join the Blind Computing list send a blank email to the following address: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [JAWS-Users] transfering an email account to a Vista system
David: If you are just going to transfer one email account to vista, then maybe the export/import method is the way to go. However, if you wish to go a bit further then that, using Vista's windows easy transfer program is the way to go. Reese - Original Message - So it looks like part of my weekend coming up will be wasted setting up a Vista system for somebody else. Certainly one part of it will be changing them over from Outlook Express to Windows Mail. The question is can I simply export the IAF file from the old system and import it in to the new one? My guess is yes, but since this will be the first time ever being in the same room as a Vista system I'd like to know everything I can learn before sitting down to a Saturday afternoon with Vista. So any and all tips will be received and cataloged for future reference. [JAWS-Users] Moving folders and messages from one computer toanother?
Dale: Did this successfully yesterday using Vista's file transfer wizard program. Start menu/programs/accesssories/system tools/windows easy transfer. It gives you a number of ways to transfer your data over to your new computer. I was able to get messages, favorites, email settings and other important files successfully transfered. Hope this helps. Reese - Original Message - Good evening Listers, This may be obvious but it is not to me. Re: [JAWS-Users] image for windows demonstration along with a questionand answer session
David: So sorry I didn't get this message ahead of time. Is there anyway I could hear an archive of this show? Thanks in advance. Reese - Original Message - For those of you who have a membership on the VIP Conduit chat site I will be giving a demonstration at 2:00 Eastern this afternoon. I do not know every little thing about the program, but hopefully I will be able to convey the power and accessibility of this main stream product for creating a backup of your system and restoring it without sited assistance. Re: [JAWS-Users] Mail merge.
Steve: Thanks ever so kindly. Although the specific task I was seeking help with wasn't detailed within the document, printing envelopes, I was able to figure it out. The merge for letters and labels will come in handy as well. Reese - Original Message - Reese, I have attached some notes on Word 2003 mail merge with JAWS, but I'm sending it to you privately as the JAWS users list doesn't accept attachments. The document was worked up with JAWS 8, and any feedback on it would be gratefully received. David, Thanks for the tip-off. It might be worth testing the document to make sure it's correct before posting it on the tips and tricks page!
