[JAWS-Users] very basic Q about how to adjust jaws reading rate while in another app TIA!
Using jaws 8, how can I control the speed of jaws reading, while in another program like notepad? Plus I'm trying to help someone with the same problem, with a higher version of jaws (she doesnt know version), and jaws is not on her task bar or system tray like in my version, so I can't even get into the jaws app window. We're both using desktops, mine xp hers win 7. I can get the verbosity menu by pushing jaws V, but I can't find anything RE speech rate there. Thanks in advance for any help here. [JAWS-Users] I need help with jaws scripts for skype 3.8, please
I need help with jaws scripts for skype: I installed 'jaws Revision 653b', which is supposed to support skype ? up to 3X with jaws 7 to 10, and I'm running skype 3.8, with Jaws 8.0, and Win XP So it compiled fine, but when I try to access the most important function the 'jaws Skype script manual', as instructed by pressing jawskey twice + F1 I get a clearly unconfigured window text below *** JAWS may not recognize this control. To show JAWS what type of control it is, press JAWSKey+7. To see more technical information on the control, press Control+JAWSKey+F1. *when I press JAWSKey+7 I get skype.jcf jaws configuration manager classes new class assign classes *edit field* TMainUserList *** I recompiled with no luck... Please does anybody know what went wrong here? And or where I can get a text copy of the 'jaws Skype script manual' 'jaws Revision 653b', or even some tutorial on how to use the script features? Any solutions welcomed...Thanks in Advance! Ronnie -- For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Thanks I did the uninstall/re-install, so far so good. Please see other thread for my bigger problem. On 3/30/11, Flor Lynch wrote: > You could uninstall Winamp via control panel. [JAWS-Users] IE 6, driving me crazy...
Hi my IE 6 just stopped funtioning as a browser anymore, it won't load URL's, and just tells me to upgrade to IE 8. I'm running JFW 8, on an XP. I heard Jaws 8 doesnt work well with IE 8, but I may not have an option anymore. I'd like to avoid spending a grand to upgrade Jaws if I can get IE functional, as a browser, once again. Preferably not using a system roll back, if possible, as I just installed about 5 new apps, and wouldnt want to open that can of worms..suggestions are welcome. I'd upgrade to IE 8, if it's as functional as firefox, which is my only way I can brows right now, however, Firefox has its limitations, it doesnt play youtube for me, where IE 6 would, or at least the audio... Would i get much access at all using JFW 8, with IE 8? [JAWS-Users] Winamp is giving me the silent treatment...
Hi listers, I'm having a problem with Winamp, I can't find the version, as usual menus have been removed, or hidden. It seems like it's been updated without my agreement. The main problem is out of the blue, it stopped outputting audio, as if it is in mute mode, or something similar. I was just browsing through a folder listening to a few mp3's, and it just stopped playing the audio, though, it is playing the track, but no audio is produced. Jaws reads the track times, so I know it's playing, and I played the same tracks in Windows Media Player, with no problem. I wasn't even in winamp when this problem happened, I was in a folder, and winamp was minamized, so I don't know how I changed any settings. I'm running JFW 8, and Xp, and I generally avoid app updates, as my old version of Jaws makes more things less accessible. Please let me know how to 'unmute', or undo what I did, or what the PC did without my permition. TIA!
