No, ctrl-shift-s makes a temporary change only. Go into the configuration
manager, and press ctrl-shift-d to open the Default configuration
manager.
then Press alt-s for Set Options, then s for synthesizer Options. Press
the

tab key. You now come to a combo box called "default synthesizer". Arrow
to the synth you want as your default. Now tab forward (or shift-tab
back)

to OK, and activate with spacebar or enter. Now press ctrl-s to save your
change; or, when pressing alt-F4, agree to save your change on the way
out.

Hi,

You need to change the setting in the jaws configuration manager (jaws
key

+ 6 on the number row.) When you close that, it will ask you if you want
to save the changes, say yes.

HTH. PS: this will only take effect for the app your in, if you want it
to
be for every app, while in the config manager before you make the
changes,

press control shift d.

[JAWS-Users] Application File for Jaws

2009-06-09 Thread Steve S.
Hi,

I asked about this once before and recieved no response so I'm trying again.
About 90 percent of the time when I unload then reload JAWS I get a window pop
up saying, Application File For JAWS. It then asks if I want to send an error
report. I usually hit the don't send button and the window closes and things
seem to work normally. I've run a JAWS repair and performed a registry
clean-up, a defrag and error scan. Is this a JAWS problem or an operating
system issue? I'm using JAWS 6.1 and XP home edition. I'd like to upgrade my
JAWS but don't want to spend a fortune and put it into a sick machine. Any
thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

2009-05-04 Thread Steve S.
Does anyone know what this means? This window comes up often when I load
JAWS. It asks if I wish to send an error report yet gives me no error
reference that I can find. I've run and error check and repair, defrag, JAWS
repair and a registry cleaner and it still occurrs but not as often. Any info
is welcom. I'm considering upgrading to 10.0 from 6.1 but want to make sure
the computer is okay first. Thanks.

Hello Steve,
Sometimes when removing programs all the references to it in the windows
registry are not removed. A registry cleaner will go in and look at the
registry to see if there are any references like this. These left overs
from programs yoy have uninstalled can cause havoc with a computer if not
cleaned out every so often. You also might want to try and defrag your
hard drive as well. Sometimes all the files of a program are not in the
same places on your hard drive and this can cause your computer not to
perform as well as it could. To get to the defrag option on your pc:

1. open your start menu.
2. Go to all programs.
3. Arrow through untill you here accessiries.
4. Once in accessiries arrow down until you here system tools.
5. Once here arrow around until you here the option for disk defrag.
Hope this info was helpful,

Hello Steve,
You might want to run a registry cleaner on your system. You can get a
free one that works well with jaws called CCleaner. Just google it and
you should be able to find it very easily.

Hi Cletus,

You must check the two buttons in the dialogue box and it will fix the

Re: [JAWS-Users] upgrading jaws

2007-09-26 Thread Steve S.
Carla, did they tell you that it would be 120 dollars if you want s m a's?
I just upgrade from jaws 6.0 to Jaws 8.0, and they ask me if I wanted s m
a's, and I said yes. my total was 368 plus taxes, which made it 398
dollars. I don't have the jaws pro. I called the same person here in TX as
you did, and it was just about the same. I called freedom scientific and
order mine from them.
