Re: [JAWS-Users] drive question

2008-10-06 Thread tammy cantrell
I'm glad to know I can rename the drive. How would it have changed when I
didn't make that change? Just curious.

Thanks for the help.

You can go to My Computer and right click on any of the items in there and
choose the option to rename them. I hope this helps.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] drive question

I have decided that I have a ghost in my computer unless somebody tells me
different. I just went into my computer to locate an external drive. I
normally could press the letter l, which would carry me to the local c
drive. I could then press the letter l again and it would take me to
local f, which was my external hard drive. Now I press the letter l twice
and only get local c. My f drive is now titled 0f. I did not do this
myself. Now, do I have a ghost or what happened? Heh heh heh! I have
windows xp home and jaws 7.0. Hope somebody has some ideas.

Thanks!

i.e., within a few seconds, and then right-mouse-click or whatever.

 Hi Tammy,

Hit insert+F11 to go to the system tray, and the notification should be in
 there.

You can then tab to the right mouse button to activate the applications
 menu.

Victor,
I know you can get a program called Talking Checkbook. It's been around for
a while so I'm not sure if it will work with Vista. Premere Technology
sells it. I feel sure Independent Living, Maxi Aids and L S S Groups do
too.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Looking for Calendar and Cheque Book

 Hi Folks,

 I'm wondering if there's a cheque book and/or calendar program that's
simple to use and works on Vista?

I'm going to be getting a new computer with Vista on it, and the latest
version of Jaws, and I need to get these two programs so I can use it.

I am able to download the programs now, so having the computer is not
necessary, as my wife has a laptop with Vista on it, business edition, and
running Jaws 9 that I can play with, so any help would be appreciated.

You might find the advance option in the system tray, but if not.
when you bring up the program. rout jaws to PC, and find advance and
click on it. that should make it more accessible.

Hoping someone can help me to solve this mystery. WinAmp is working well,
and I can go through its windows (equalizer, play list editor etc.) and
 pause
and start the file using the space bar. However, if I want to jump to
time, (for example), all I hear is control j. It does not say jump to
 time, and
if I try to arrow left or right to read the time I just hear blank. If I
press a number to write the time in that isn't where my pc cursor is.
 Apparently
visually the time does come up and is flashing on the monitor but since I
cannot access it it is of no help to me. And all the other jaws commands
 are
the same. I cannot even close WinAmp using alt f4. I am running the
latest version of WinAmp and Jaws 6.2. Does anyone have any idea what
 might be going
on? I'd be greatful for any advice or tips.

 Thank you very much,
 Joy

Hi, control tab to the equalizer and press control f4. Alternatively press
alt g from within any Winamp window. Hope that helps.

Hoping someone can help me to solve this mystery. WinAmp is working
  well,
and I can go through its windows (equalizer, play list editor etc.)
  and
  pause
and start the file using the space bar. However, if I want to jump to
time, (for example), all I hear is control j. It does not say jump to
  time, and
if I try to arrow left or right to read the time I just hear blank.
  If I
press a number to write the time in that isn't where my pc cursor is.
  Apparently
visually the time does come up and is flashing on the monitor but
  since I
cannot access it it is of no help to me. And all the other jaws
  commands
  are
the same. I cannot even close WinAmp using alt f4. I am running the
latest version of WinAmp and Jaws 6.2. Does anyone have any idea what
  might be going
on? I'd be greatful for any advice or tips.

  Thank you very much,

 Tammy,
There is a program on the Jaws Users web site called, Tiny PDF. It
 resides
in your printer list and once you create your Word document, you can press
your print button and select Tiny PDF and it will convert that document to
PDF. I use it almost daily and it works great for me.

 Hi Tammy,

Try downloading Cute PDF programme from the following:

 www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp - 16k -

and follow the steps. Once installed, you just need to bring up the print
dialogue box Control and P) from an open Word or Excel file as if you are
going to print a document. Next, either tab across to the choose printer
combo box or press Alt and N. You can open the combo box by doing Alt and
down arrow then, choose Cute pdf and press enter to convert your file into
PDF. It will ask you to choose the file name and location etc.

 Good luck

 Waqas

Mark,
Thank you so much. I figured it was easy. My problem came in when I tried
to access the menu and Jaws said nothing. I tried the jaws curser and never
got it to say anything. I'll give this a try. I do appreciate your time
and instructions.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Program question

Yes, in fact. basically, the install process is very straightforward, but
using the program is a little less straightforward, imo, but still simple.
what you'll want to do is, once in the program, to find an audio file,
 press
alt a, which brings up a standard Windows dialog asking you what file to
convert. simply find the file(s) and add it/them. once you've got all
 the
files you want, just shift tab to the convert button and hit space to
activate it. That's basically it really, as far as using the program
 goes.
Just make sure that when you see a dialog after a while that tells you the
trial version has expired, just say no. It'll eventually stop yelling at
you, but you'll still be able to use the program. I use it all the time,
 if
I need to convert from one file type to another. don't ask me why they
 want
us all to pay for something so easy to use, when it clearly should be
 free,
but that's how to use it. :) mark

Does anybody know how to use the program called Switch? It changes mp3
files to ogg or ogg files to mp3? Any help would be appreciated.

 Hi Tammy,

Press alt plus t for tools, press o for options, Control tab to the Read
page, tab once or twice to a check box that says something like expand
messages automatically and check that box. Hope that helps.
