[JAWS-Users] updating the newest patch and moving on to 14 when it is released down the road.

2012-05-10 Thread brad
What truly stinks is that my vr councelor did not purchase the S M A where I
can get jaws 14 and this is upsetting. To tell you the truth, I cannot even
update jaws 13.825 because after it downloads it states that I have to make
some fixes that are difficult to make.

[JAWS-Users] VLc media player

2012-05-12 Thread brad
Has anyone had any experience using VLc media player? My sister thinks I
would enjoy the software but we are not sure if jaws will support it. I am
using Jaws 13.825 and my computer is a fujitsu and I am running windows 7.
If you use or have used VLC media player, which version would be more
beneficial with jaws. 2.1 is the latest version.

[JAWS-Users] cdex

2012-06-10 Thread brad
I am runnin the most recent version of cdex and I am helping a friend to use
the same program as I. When I was introduced, a friend showed me how to
make sure that any cd I extracted, went directly into a music folder where I
could then move it to any location I wanted. Because he was so quick at the
computer, I am not able to take what he did and help my friend to do the
same thing. We have had difficulties locating the first cd she extracted.
Would anyone know where I can find what she extracted and furthermore, would
anyone know how to set it up where when she extracted a cd, that it would
extract to a folder she wanted it to go.

[JAWS-Users] large PDF file

2012-06-12 Thread brad
I am on our home owners association and every month the management company
sends me this 165 page progress report and it is in a PDF format. I can
read bits of the document but it runs real slow. I also seem to get held up
on turning pages at times. I can navigate using the alt key but it gets
very time consumeing. I was wondering if someone can send me a list of key
commands that would make it easier for me to swim through this document
rather then being weighed down by cement boots.

I am using jaws 13 with windows 7 and adobe 10. If anything, could anyone
from this list e-mail me privately and give me instruction if I send them
this 165 page report to use as an example? It might help me grasp it more
easily.

Good luck with that, Brad. I don't like the way Adobe handles largish
documents, it seems to choke and take forever. You can go into preferences
and tell it to only convert portions of the document as you go.

If you have a few Benjamin's lying around, avail yourself of Open Book or
Kurzweil. You can use the Freedom Import or Kurzweil Virtual Printer
respectively. Just open the .pdf document, issue the print command and
select whichever one is applicable as your printer.

The disadvantage to reading docs in Adobe like that, is any table conversion
doesn't work all that well. You have to be able to do a bit of mental
interpolation.

Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

There's also the issue of whether the pdf was made accessibly or not.
(it takes much longer to resove/OCR a poorly formatted pdf.) If people are
referring to pages while discussing the pdf, then you can use the Go to Page
Feature in Adobe Reader - ctrl-shift-n, and then type the page number and
press enter.

[JAWS-Users] windows 7 layout

2012-06-26 Thread brad
I am using windows 7 with jaws 13 and it is easy for me to use the functions
of windows 7. I have a friend that is using windows 7 and jaws 12 but she
seems to have different features and screens seem to be layed out
differently. She is having difficulties. With the layout. For Instance,
When she goes into the control panel, it is layed out much like a a webpage
while, for me, it does the same but I can use first letter navigation.

My question is Does windows 7 have to be in a different mode or classic mode
for her to navigate its operating system more easily. Are there some
settings that she needs to change so she can have her computer set up either
like mine or a person that can easily use windows 7. She is willing to
learn windows 7, but, at the same time, is getting frustrated and wants to
go back to XP. How can I help her?

go into control panel, tab to appearances and personalization, and enter on

now tab to task bar and start menu. and enter on it.
now control tab to start menu tab, go to "customize", scroll down to

the longest time, we used JAWS 7 because it worked the best with our
proprietary systems. Now after the upgrade, it has become necessary to use
JAWS 11. JAWS 11 is the highest that our license allows us to utilize at
this time.

I am also using a focus 80 Braille display. My question is this. Since
upgrading to 11, I am noticing that every time I go in to an application
such as email or the application needed to update a customer's address and
phone number there is unnecessary information all the way to the left hand
side of my display. For instance while in E-mail the left side of the
display will show the word "inbox." I'd like to get rid of this information.
It takes up room on the display, and for the work I do it is not needed. I
have tried turning off Flash messages completely, and have changed many of
the verbosity settings with no success. Any suggestions to fix this problem
would be appreciated.

Also JAWS 11 tends to speak a lot of unnecessary information as well. Each
time I move from screen to screen JAWS will say "secure connection." Is
there a way to turn some of this chatter off?

Thank you in advance

[JAWS-Users] alphabetizing music files

2012-03-03 Thread brad
Hello

I am new to the list and it has been a long time since I used a computer. I
am using CDEX to extract my CDs and put them in a music file on the
computer. I am most of the way done but it seems that each artist is placed
in reverse alphabetical order. How can I fix this problem? I would like it
to be in the correct order.

I am using windows 7 and Jaws 13. CDEX is 1.7.

I have some CDs in my collection that are too corrupted or scratched to
extract to the computer. I am to the understanding that CDEX has a fix for
that. In fact I understand that there is an entire directory of music and
albums to where if a CD cannot upload, you are able to download it from
their directory. How do you do this?

[JAWS-Users] winamp and playing more then one song

2012-03-03 Thread brad
First thanks to all that helped with cdex.

I have placed all my music files in my c drive under music. I also linked
up winamp so I can play such music. I figured out that if I select all
music on the album, then I can play multiple tracks. I want to create a
play list though and wanted to know if someone can walk me through how to do
such. I would also like to know how to pull up the music files directly in
Winamp without typing the long drawn out file name. it is quite easy to do
such in windows explorer but not in winamp. Any other tidbits would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Hi Brad. I am using a fairly old version of Winamp but here is how I make
playlists.
If I want to play more than one track at a time, I open Winamp then press
letter L then shif-tab in to the folder where my songs are located. Select
the ones you want then press Enter and they should start playing.
If you want to create a playlist, you might press Alt+E then control+tab to
open the playlist editor.
Press letter L to add tracks to the playlist. Add as many tracks as you like

even if they reside in different folders. You can move from folder to folder

using either shift+L or just backspacing to the various folders. You can
then save the playlist with control+S.
Note: you can obtain a list of winamp keystrokes specifically for the
playlist editor by pressing insert+W while in the playlist editor.
Hope this helps.

thinking swiching over to audacity because I just don't like being subject

I have heard people talk about audacity over the years and I have been

So, would audacity be the way to go or goldwave or is it personal

Audacity is a free multi-track audio editor. Audacity 2.0, a new stable
release has just been released, and a number of significant bugs have been
fixed since the last beta version (1.3.14).
The program can be downloaded from the home page of the audacity website:

[JAWS-Users] Line lengths

2012-07-14 Thread Brad Dunse
I am a freelance writer and have need to limit the length of lines via
characters, not by way of word wrap unless it put a hard return at the end.

I was told; years ago screen readers had a feature where you could set a
tone to play once you reached a settable character length. Similar to the
old typewriter margin bell prior to the end of the carriage.

Does anyone know of a Jaws feature or a script that might allow this?

I don't know if it occurred when typing or when passing over the line, but
both instances would be good.

Thanks.

yes. the feature was reintroduced or revamped. it's known as "indicate
new line when" and you will come across it in the Settings Center if you
do a search for new line or indicate new line. It speaks the new line as
you type and/or edit, either or both. In Microsoft word, you might want
to justify your lines - ctr+j does this to both right and left.

2013-01-09 Thread Brad Dunse
Okay. I wasn't sure since it isn't a Jaws thing per se, but I'll post it due
to interest and future post inquiries.

Windows 7 Volume Control Shortcut

1. Right click on an empty area on the desktop. Point Jaws cursor between
icons and hit the apps key or right click.

2. Go to New, and right arrow to Shortcut. Press enter.

3. In the location area, paste in:

%windir%\System32\SndVol.exe -f 49825268

Tab to the next button and press enter

4. In the name area, highlight the text that is there, clear it, and type in
Volume, or whatever you want to name it. Tab to and press on the Finish
button.

Now if you want a shortcut key to the desktop icon, do the following.

1. Focus on the newly named volume icon.

2. Press CTRL Enter to pull up the properties window

3. Tab to the shortcut area and press something like CTRL Shift V, or
whatever hot key you want.

4. Tab to the OK button, and that's it.

If you want to rid the ding ding ding when adjusting, you can set your
Windows default sound to none by:

1. Go to Sound in your control panel or type sound in the search box and
arrow to it.

2. Go to the sounds tab.

3. Tab until you find the list of events which sounds are assigned and fine
Windows default.

4. Tab again until you get to the wound assigned and then press the home key
or arrow to "none" at the top.

5. Tab to OK and hit enter. Wala!

Hello;

I have Jaws 10, Jaws 12, and now Jaws 13 on my XP computer. Jaws 12 is
set

as the default.

I had Control+Alt+J set to launch Jaws 10. I went to the properties of
the

Jaws 13 desk top icon and assigned Control+Alt+ J as the launch hot key.

I unloaded Jaws 12 and pressed Control+Alt+ J. Jaws 10 came up. The
properties of the Jaws 13 icon still shows Control+Alt+J as the hot key

In the past assigning a key stroke to a newer version would override the

is

what FS expected. t

Re: [JAWS-Users] Low on virtual memory

2011-10-02 Thread Brad Keller
The first thing I would do is reboot the pc. It sounds like your memory is
getting full. IF you haven't rebooted in a while than now is agood time. If
this isn't the problem than the player your using to listen to the stream
may not be freeing up memory as needed. If this is the case next time just
try closing the program and restarting it.

Hi,

I am using windows XP with 3 GB ram with latest Jaws 12.

I was listening live to a NFL football game today on my computer when I
heard a sound, but it didn't sound like the sound you get with a fatal
error.

I lost Jaws and my wife told me that the screen stated a message low on
virtual memory. She closed the screen and after that I got another message
something to do with bector and Internet explorer 8 for which I have no
idea what that means.

I don't recall any other problems with IE8 and I had only the home page of
the radio station and a second page for the audio opened. For what it is
worth, here is the URL of the radio station. When I got the page, I
pressed enter on listen live.

http://www.espn980.com/

Does anyone have any idea what caused the error and what should I do? Even
after my wife got me back to the desktop, Jaws was stilll not talking. So,
I aborted Jaws (insert key+Windows key+F4) and use the shortcut key to
bring back Jaws.

Any help and suggestions will greatly be appreciated. Take care.

You want Insert plus space bar or caps lock depending on what your Jaws

[JAWS-Users] Excel region naming/Reading

2011-10-13 Thread Brad Dunse'
According to Jaws the old method of setting titles for columns and
rows to be read with Insert CTRL ALT R and C respectively, is not
recommended in lieu of using region names within Excel itself. The
question I have then is, when is when two or more rows hold the
text for column titles, how is it defined? The Jaws training on
reading titles does not address this. It can be done in the old
manual way by highlighting the rows and setting them. I'd tried every
conceivable way of doing this including making two separate name
definitions, one for rows and one for columns. I can get
the columnns to read with multiple rows for the title area that
way, but then the row title in column A does not read.

Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] Alternate vioce

2011-11-19 Thread Brad Dunse'

There use to be an option to press Alt Insert Down Arrow to read
with an alternate voice such as SAPI instead of your default
Elequence, or vice versa. Did they change the hot key or eliminate
the option all together? I'd not seen any reference to it in the
settings unless I've missed it. It was nice to just quickly read
using an alternate voice on some things without changing the reading
profile. I'd not seen this option since V11 I think.

However, when you stop the Say All, the Eloquence voice returns.

Use the following controls in the Say All group to set preferences

Speech Synthesizer
Use this combo box to select the synthesizer used for Say All.
Select either Default, SAPI 5, or RealSpeak Solo Direct. When using
Default, all other controls in the Say All group are unavailable.
Also, note that RealSpeak Solo Direct is only available if you have
downloaded and installed a RealSpeak Solo Direct voice.

If the Say All synthesizer is Default, then either SAPI 5 or
RealSpeak Solo Direct will be used for an Alternate Say All
(ALT+INSERT+DOWN ARROW). If either SAPI 5 or RealSpeak Solo Direct
is selected, the Default synthesizer is used for Alternate Say All.

Use this slider to select a comfortable speech rate for the Say All
voice. PAGE DOWN and PAGE UP change the rate of speech by larger
increments, while the UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW keys make more gradual changes.

Punctuation
Use this list to set the punctuation level used by JAWS when the Say

punctuation level. The options available are None, Some, Most, which
is the default, and All.

Person
The Person combo box lets you to select which SAPI 5 or RealSpeak

Pitch
The Pitch slider allows you to adjust the pitch for the currently
selected voice. Note that some SAPI5 and RealSpeak Solo Direct
synthesizers do not support pitch change like Eloquence and some
other hardware and software synthesizers.

Volume
Use the slider to increase or decrease the Say All speech volume.
The DOWN ARROW , LEFT ARROW, and PAGE DOWN keys decrease volume, and
the UP ARROW, RIGHT ARROW, and PAGE UP keys increase volume.

existing profile from the list. If you select an existing profile,
that profile's individual voice settings will be overwritten by the
new settings when you choose OK.

Apply

On second thought perhaps this is it? I don't have a Real Speak Solo
voice installed but rather the SAPI 5 from Win7 OS. Do you think Jaws
is not recognizing it as a full option for toggling a say all? If I
set it in the Voice Profile I can use it as a default, it just does
not change on the fly. Also I've got Real Speak Sapi voices from
earlier Jaws which came on a CD, that ought install fine I'd thinnk.

Part of this issue's origin is non-transferrable settings from

First, the settings are in jaws/options.voices/voice adjustment.
Second, if you adjust the speech synthesizer (alt+l) and choose

I can't comment if windows7 voice is the problem - probably not. I
use sapi5 voice and it's ok. I think you just need to press alt+down
arrow with your settings.

Ok mystery solved but still weird. I've always used the left alt key
for this combination, I'd be curious what you use. Jaws is not
recognizing the left alt key in these key combos. The alt key works
by itself and with other non-Jaws key combination hot keys I've set
up for apps and such, but it will not work for this or other Jaws
features. It does work with the right alt key. Additionally I do not
have "differentiate between left and right paired keys" set in the
settings manager so it ought not make a difference.

First, the settings are in jaws/options.voices/voice adjustment.
Second, if you adjust the speech synthesizer (alt+l) and choose
sapi5, it will work by pressing insert+down arrow. If you set it to
default it works by pressing alt+insert+down arrow.

I can't comment if windows7 voice is the problem - probably not. I
use sapi5 voice and it's ok. I think you just need to press alt+down

Voice Adjustment
Say All Group Box
JAWS can immediately switch from one synthesizer, for example,
Eloquence Software, to another, such as SAPI 5 or RealSpeak Solo
Direct, when using the Say All command (INSERT+DOWN ARROW). While
the default Eloquence voice may be useful for reading and
navigating short text such as prior or next line, sentence, or
paragraph, it may not be the preferred voice for longer passages
of text. The SAPI 5 or RealSpeak Solo Direct voice chosen remains
active during the Say All even as you fast forward, rewind, speed
up, or slow down. However, when you stop the Say All, the
Eloquence voice returns.

Use the following controls in the Say All group to set preferences
for how the Say All command works.

Speech Synthesizer
Use this combo box to select the synthesizer used for Say All.
Select either Default, SAPI 5, or RealSpeak Solo Direct. When
using Default, all other controls in the Say All group are
unavailable. Also, note that RealSpeak Solo Direct is only
available if you have downloaded and installed a RealSpeak Solo Direct voice.

Rate
Use this slider to select a comfortable speech rate for the Say
All voice. PAGE DOWN and PAGE UP change the rate of speech by
larger increments, while the UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW keys make
more gradual changes.

Punctuation
Use this list to set the punctuation level used by JAWS when the
Say All voice speaks. Use the UP or DOWN ARROW keys to select a
punctuation level. The options available are None, Some, Most,
which is the default, and All.

Person
The Person combo box lets you to select which SAPI 5 or RealSpeak
Solo Direct synthesizer voice to use for Say All.

The DOWN ARROW , LEFT ARROW, and PAGE DOWN keys decrease volume,
and the UP ARROW, RIGHT ARROW, and PAGE UP keys increase volume.

OK
This button saves any changes made and then closes the Voice
Adjustment dialog box. This button is not available when changes
are made to any factory default voice profile template. You must
use the Save As button to save any changes made to a factory template.

just delete the contents of the user settings folder. Don't forget to have
copy of it somewhere before changing or deleting.

If you want your voice profiles setting stored, just copy
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Freedom

If you don't feel comfortable with this, just relax and let it as it is.

Thanks yes that would work. I can stil use the Insert+RightALT
+DownArrow key combo for the alternative voice as I need it, it isn't
so much a user inconvenience issue though I'd prefer the LeftAlt key
to work, it is more trying to find out why the alt key isn't working
in that situation. I may run into other issues if there's a bad
install or the like. It is interesting after the "ctrl+f to find
specific keystroke" in the directions you noted, if I try typing
LeftAlt+Insert+DownArrow there, it will say nothing for the first few
tries, then after a few tries will say "Alt Down Arrow" with it now
missing the Insert Key. Very strange. The RightAlt+Insert+DownArrow
shows up fine as would be expected. It's acting like a keyboard
issue, yet outside of Jaws there doesn't seem to be an issue. At this
point I'll use the RightAlt key for alternative voice reading and
just keep watch of any other strange non-working key combo
situations. I'm soon to purchase a mechanical keyboard, perhaps,
though I doubt it, that willl help :).

Ok mystery solved but still weird. I've always used the left alt key for

Well, in the UK and Ireland our right alt key is given the alt-gr,

often forms the basis for accented letters. The left alt key by
itself is then absolutely necessary.

thought. What is strange is, the left ALT key works in every other
situation I've tried, plus this: if you go into help

[JAWS-Users] Text analyzer and corrections

2011-11-24 Thread Brad Dunse'
Breaking into the free-lance commercial writing field, I really enjoy
the text analyzer feature in Jaws. However, does anyone know of a
faster way to access the mistakes it's found? For instance if it
finds a space run at the 65th character, it would be awesome if a key
could be pressed to take you there instead of counting in from the
left margin, or ctrl right arrowing guessing roughly where 65 might
be and arrowing from there to find it.

Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Word 2010 and heading text

2011-11-26 Thread Brad Dunse'
Thanks for the tips and replies. Are you telling me we no longer then
have the ability to just arrow down a document and know whether it is
a header or not? I hope not. I'm starting to find very helpful
features being dropped off the more updated we get here. In Word 2003
one could create a heading text by:

1. Highlight the text
2. Press Alt Shift Right or left Arrow to scroll through the heading
text levels

3. Then go about your business

Each time then you arrowed across that header text Jaws would say
"Header level 1". Jaws 13 says it ought be reading this If you go to
the Quick Settings it says:

"This option controls how JAWS announces headings in Word documents.
Select between Off, On, and Heading and Level. If you want all styles
to be indicated instead of just headings, choose the Style Changes
option rather than Headings Announce from the QuickSettings dialog.

The default setting is Heading and Level."

One shouldn't have to enter into quick key mode to find out where you
are in a nest of headers. One can always find the headers with Insert
F6 as well but I'm talking about reading a document and as you scroll
or read, you are able to tell what heading level you are in and if it
is nested within another . For example:

(Header 1) Honey Do List

(Header 2) House

* Mow grass
* Fix door
* Clean garage

(Header 1) My To Do List

(header 2) Calls to make

(header 3) Cold calls
* ABC Company
*DEF Company

(header 3) Follow ups
*XYZ Company
*STP Company

(header 2) Personal calls
*Call parents for anniversary

A cheezy example but it is helpful to know what level is what when
just arrowing down a document. Especially if it is one you haven't
created and never saw before.

week. I am not really a football fan, but it was a nice easy way to see if
the home team had lost yet again for social conversational reasons.

Does this breakage result from changes on the website where Research It
looks for results? Just curious as to why these problems with sports
results occur.

Having just migrated to JAWS 12 and 13 from an earlier version of JAWS, I
will say that I do like Research It for its quickness and the ease of
glancing over headlines, definitions, and other things.

[JAWS-Users] Virtual Ribbon menu speech repetition

2011-12-13 Thread Brad Dunsé
Word 2010. Windoes 7 64 bit. JFW 13. More times
than not when using the Virtual Ribbon, if for
example I go to Insert, then to Text, when
arrowing down from there all it says is "Text
button drop down grid" everytime I down arrow.
The only way I've found to rid it is to unload
Jaws and fire it back up. It will reoccur shortly
thereafter. Refreshing the screen does not affect
it. I've noticed it does not do this when the
Virtual Ribbon is turned off, all items are
accessible then. It is not limited to justthe the
text menu options but just about any last menu
level. I'd hoped perhaps the new update might
have the remedy. If anyone had this occur and/or has a clue, I'd appreciat it.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws 12, Dkype and Scripts

2010-10-26 Thread Brad Dunse

Hello,

What would be the optomum version of Skype to use with Jaws 12 and if
any scripts other than what is in Jaws? I was running version 4.x
with Jaws 11 and some scripts from Doug Lee I think? However with
install of Jaws CTRL 1 and etc which normally moved to contacts list
just rambles about no script to call blah blah blah.

I can get older versions from www.oldversion.com if need be. I'm
running XP Pro SP3. If scripts are needed and you have, please send.
Actually I want to think I don't even have the Jaws default scripts
as I overwrote them with Jaws 11's assuming it'd actually work :).

Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] Anytime Organizer

2010-10-26 Thread Brad Dunse
For a long time I've used Anytime Organizer by Individual Software
and am currently using version 12. Sadly, it hasn't been supported
by Jaws for a number of years. Thanks however to some users on this
list in the past I managed to get some scripts that allow it to be
used in these later versions of Jaws. My question is I would really
like to make use of the color labels were it would speak a text label
as you scrolled down your To Do list and etc. Now all Jaws says is
black, it doesn't recognize the red on blue or other colors that are
there and verified by doing a Insert 5 command.

Does anyone use this program and make use of this feature?

thanks.

Don,

This is me too. I'm so invested in years and information I really do
not want to switch. And then to find something that has the features
Anytime has is tough I think. As for my queue to which task is for
what part of life, it seems to work well to asign a two or three
character string to it, such as hm for home, ps as personal or maybe
bz for business, then have the Jaws dictionary for Anytime play a
sound when it runs across that lower case sensitive string.

Hope that helps.

[JAWS-Users] IE8 and focus question

2010-11-18 Thread Brad Dunse
I'm using XP Pro, JFW 12, IE 8. Though I think I had this with
Firefox too sometimes.
When I log on to a web page, it loads up and ttells me 100%, the
status bar says "done", but I arrow down, I get the http://www.
whatever. And I find I'm in the address bar. It'll do this even if I
access it from a favorite. Sometimes you can refresh the screen and
then Shift TAB out but not always. Mostly when you Shift tab or tab
it just says nothing, arrowing down just says blank.

Is there a hot key that will put focus on the web page by chance? Or
if you know of any other fix by turning something off or on even. It
gets quite annoying and to get focus to the browser you have to use
the Jaws cursor and try to find something that isn't a link when you click it.

Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] Same page hyperlinking in Word 2003

2010-11-21 Thread Brad Dunse
This problem has existed for a while now, tech support says its a
Word issue but when I try it without speech running it works fine. I
like to use same page linking in Word to easily get to a certain part
of adocument. I know about bookmarking but you have to continually
remove the ole links in there that are generated from
copying/pasting and it just isn't cool.

The problem is you ought to be able to highlight a certain text in a
document, go to the top of the page, hit ALT E, then H to "Paste As
Hyperlink" and it ought make a link there that is executable and
whisks you to the point from where you copied it. Only when Jaws is
running it won't paste it at all. It did back in version 8 or 9,
can't remember which, but never since. Tech support stands by the
fact its a Word issue even though it worked in past versions of Jaws
and it works without Jaws running.

Have any insight on this?

Thanks.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Research It in Jaws

I notice that quite a few people write the list about Research It
not working from time to time.
The most likely cause for this, is that website information used in
Research It has changed.
Jaws relies on specific information from each site to be available,
and when the website in question changes that information,

the Research It utility fails to work correctly.
This is why FS will have to continually update Jaws in order for
Research It to work.
Whenever you have a problem retrieving information using this
utility, and you will , simply contact FS to make them aware of the problem.
I'm not bashing FS, I'm just pointing out why folks that use
Research It experience these problems.
Personally, I prefer using Internet Explorer since the same
information can be obtained from the individual sites that Research
It accesses.
So, if Research It fails to get the information you are looking
for, try going to the corresponding website and getting it.

HTH,
Rick Justice

2011-01-07 Thread Brad Dunse

Betsy/Mike,

The enhanced setting didnt' seem to make a difference but I'm glad
I'm aware of that setting in case I need it in the future, I did set
it to 8 digits or more but I think setting it to read by
pairs worked. I played around with various text processing/numeric
settings and perhaps a combination of them got it to work. Thanks
for the suggestions and pointers. A happy date reader now :).

Brad,
Have you tried setting your JAWS numbers setting to something like
read single digits if number contains 8 or more digits? That's what
I did and it was solved.

You can get older versions of software at

http://www.oldversion.com

but they only have Version - 3.1.0.144 as the newest there. To go to
that page direclty go to:

I don't know of a list for it but I'm sure there's one around.

It would seem that the most recent version of Skype does not like
the idea of JAWS users adding a contact. My guess either I am
missing something or they need to fix what ever the problem might
happen to be at this time. Never the less I find it interesting and
will look further for more updated scripts ETC. This is just my
impression after a few minutes of playing with it. It's been a long
time since I added anybody so this kind of thing simply slid under my radar.

[JAWS-Users] FRAME SETTING

2011-03-08 Thread Brad Dunse'
I am trying to set a frame to speak the status of a "Done" check box
in my tasks in Anytime Organizer. I thought I had this a long time
ago in an earlier version of Jaws which I don't have anymore, but I
can't seem to get it to say checked or unchecked. Are there any
specific tweaks to get it to speak an element? Frame setting hasn't
been a useful tool for me for some reason, but I'd like to get this to work.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Brad
