[JAWS-Users] AVG Anti Spyware

2007-11-18 Thread Alan & Terrie Robbins
May be a basic question, but when I go to my system tray and pull up the AVG
Anti Spyware how do I know what it is doing and what it has done. It sounds
like JAWS reads some graphics David had labeled with scripts but I'm not
sure. Can someone shed some light on this? I always thought with
antispyware you had to choose what to keep, discard etc after scans?

thanks
Al

Re: [JAWS-Users] AVG Anti Spyware

2007-11-15 Thread David Griffith
I do not have the individual Spyware package but I have the Internet
Security package with the Spyware bundled in and I do not need to do
anything but let it get on with things in the background. The thing I like
about it is that it is pretty unobtrusive. I do get a report of threats
removed or healed once a day but that's it . The firewall in particular I
like because it seems intelligent enough to just block what it needs to
block without constantly referring to me. Just personal preference - other
may wish to be kept up to date on everything going on but as long as all my
programs work I am happy to let it get on with it.

I believe there is a trial for the Internet Security package so why not try
that out if that is the direction you are thinking of going in?

I bought it on recommendation and I have had no cause to regret the purchase
so far.

Regards

David Griffith

I just downloaded the AVG Antispyware and installed to try before purchasing
the whole internet security package. I also installed the scripts David had
on the web page. Since I've never used this type product do I need to do
anything or does it work in the back ground like the AVG virus program How
do I know what it is or has done I think it said this was a 30 day trial
Any suggestions from those using this product would be greatly appreciated

thanks

2007-11-15 Thread David Ferrin
The trial works just like the full version for 30 days. It sits in your
system tray and does it's thing all by itself. I like it very much although
I haven't got around to purchasing it as of yet, but it is in the cards.
Note though with the graphic and configuration files I have provided the
program is accessible using your JAWS cursor by navigating to the tool bar.
It wasn't out of the box but thanks to my wife who helped me label the tool
bar it works very nicely now.

2007-11-15 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Hi, when I last used AVG Antispyware, it ran in the background to monitor
for spyware, but this is part of the trial. After that you'll have to
perform scans manually. I could be wrong though.

You should be able to just zip it up, for easy transport.
The person recieving the file should be able to unzip it into their Jaws
user folder, and use it.
A reload of Jaws may be necessary for the changes to take affect.

OK I admit that it is no where near as accessible as the anti virus program
is I have managed some
minor success to the point where it is usable. With my wife's help I labeled
the tool bar and set
JAWS to only speak labeled graphics. Now it does require much moving around
with the mouse cursor it
is usable this way very well in my opinion. I have no experience with
transferring graphic files
from person to person, but if anybody would like to try just let me know and
we'll work something
out, or I could even post them up on the web site.
