[JAWS-Users] AVG Internet Security

2008-05-16 Thread Patricia Dunbar
Just to say, it's all installed and running and residing in the system's
tray.

**If anyone had purchased the version 7.50 and then upgraded to version 8
and found out the 8 not user friendly, you can go back to 7.50 provided you
had first paid for it.**
This is exactly what my husband did and they had absolutely no problem
letting him go back to the 7.50. They even gave him a different license
number. I would suggest using the info I provided this morning the web site
to download the 7.50 paid version if you are so inclined.

David I think you should remove the one up on your web site as I had first
used it and it was of no use for the paid license version. I had to
uninstall it and get this other one to make it active.

Patricia

[JAWS-Users] AVG internet security

2008-03-25 Thread David Ferrin
Here's what I just wrote to the nice people at grisoft, with luck I'll receive
an answer in the near future.
David Ferrin
 www.jaws-users.com

Hello, I am a current internet security 7.5 customer and here is my license to
prove it.

You didn't really think I would leave my license in here now did you?

I'm contacting you to enquire if the current version of internet security is
going to continue or be phased out instead. I use a screen reader and am told
that your version 8 software is not accessible with my software like the
version I am currently using. So if this program is going to be continued I
will renew my license for another 2 years in July, if not then I will need to
search for another security alternative to protect my computer. This discussion
has been raised on the mailing list I manage that consists of over 500 people
like myself with similar needs of assistive technology. I like what I have
right now, but like I said if it is going to go away I need to know that so I
can make my fellow screen reader users aware of it as well.

Re: [JAWS-Users] AVG Internet Security 8.0

2008-03-21 Thread Becky Buckner
Hi Roger.
I recently downloaded AVG. 8 and what I am finding is that is has really
slowed down my jaws speech response time when I am typing. Not sure why
this has happened. Didn't notice it with 7.5.

It's not fully functional because you just disabled a major component. Think
about it by turning part of it off there is no way it could be fully

Well unless I find something bad in editing it would seem that the recordings
are finished although still in ruff draft form. I did them 3 or 4 times but
just wasn't happy with the early results. I think they will do fine this time
around, wish me luck. I might get them posted next week depending on how long
editing takes. I am my own worse critic.

Davidd, guess I'll have to get someone sighted to help on the avg Security
package. At the end of filling out the form, there is no place to do
"finish" or "submit." Patricia suggested I click into reading the privacy
statement to be allowed to submit, but that didn't work. Any ideas?

Could you be a little clearer on which stuff you need help with?

Happy to help if I can but basically I have gone through AVG Internet
Security options once or twice out of curiosity but as I say it seems ok
just to run after install and let it get on with it.

  I agree.
I have been using it for 2 months now and have pretty much forgotten
about
it. It just gets on with its business in the background. It has prevented
several attacks and detected virus attempts but does not nake a song and
dance about it. It just gets on with sorting out the problems . Seems to
be

I just upgraded to this program last Thursday evening and if you are
interested in my feed back read on. I find the program completely
accessible
with the keyboard even though a couple of spots I had to right click on
something I don't recall trying out the applications key in that situation
right now. I ran the firewall through Steve Gibson's security testing
regiment on www.grc.com and it passed perfectly with only 1 port showing
and
it was closed. So that part seems to be no problem at all. The anti Spam
part of it works very well and it is possible to modify your white and or
black lists respectively. All I had to do was create a Spam folder and a
message rule to send any email with [SPAM] in to said folder. It made 1
error placing an email from my bank in there so like I said an easy add to
my white list. The anti virus is the same interface as before so no
problem
there at all so far as accessibility. The spy ware part is a bit odd in
that
the interface is not at all like the stand alone version at least not so
far
as I can tell yet. For the most part the program is quite automated so for
many people it's possible to set and forget once you're sure everything is
as you like it to be.
