Thanks.

So you have no serious accessibility concerns, especially when compared with
v12, which you used to use, and which it seems most respondents on both
lists I've asked are still using?

I am using
Abbyy FineReader 14. I was using 12, but it quit working properly for me.
Their tech people couldn't seem to figure out the problem. Since I liked
the program, I decided to buy the standard version 14, and I still like it.

Sweet.

I like the sound of the screen-shot scanner. Sadly the pro version is almost
twice the cost, although it does look like they sell the screenshot add-on
separately?

So far I haven't found a single person using a screen-reader and the latest
ABBYY, version 14.

Hey. I'm looking into this software, and it seems useful and has a lot of
recommendations for its excellent OCR. It's also not too expensive in
comparison to some others I have seen. Does anyone here use it? Someone
commented that the latest version, 14, is not as accessible as version 12
was. Can anyone on the list confirm this and describe issues? Unfortunately,
the company does not seem to provide older versions on their site.

case that you have to re-install the OS or change machines etc.

2018-03-01 Thread Dialup @ 56k
The Abbyy scan results are very good in my case, but there are some set
up screens which are accessible but a bit fiddly to configure.
The most important thing though is it integrates with Word / Excel etc,
which Omnipage no longer does.

Worth the trouble in my opinion.

Like Omnipage, A F R is a bit clunky in places, but for me it produces much
better results, particularly with tables.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Abbyy FineReader...anyone use it?

2018-03-01 Thread Dialup @ 56k
I've been using Abbyy fine reader for a while now after the Omnipage
Ultimate release which I found to be less than ultimate.
Like Omnipage, A F R is a bit clunky in places, but for me it produces
much better results, particularly with tables.

Give it a go!

Thanks guys. This is all good to know. I'll only ask one more time -- any
comments on the use of ABBYY 12 vs 14?
