Re: [JAWS-Users] Burning Audio CD with Win. Media Player 12

2014-05-13 Thread Mike Boyd

Kevin,

Thanks for the recognition and acknowledgement. I have been using Windows
Media Player to burn discs for quite awhile now, and if you do not know
just the right steps to get a method to work, then you can sit with your
wheels spinning for quite a long time. I have read some of your posts that
were quite helpful as well, so let's all try to continue to help out. Once
again, Thanks.

I feel it my responsibility to tell you exactly what works for me. I have
tried many approaches and one submitted by Mike Boyd in the past and also my
appreciation to Kevin, this is the only tutorial that works consistently for
me. There are many ways of burning a CD, but for me, I needed detailed
instructions and this procedure seems to be no-fail:

Burning a Disc with Windows Media Player

1. Insert a bblank CD into your disc drive.
2. Go to that drive in "Computer."
3. Open the context menu and click on "Burn to Disc."
4. Give your disc a Name, Select the burning speed that you want, choose
what type of disc you want to burn, also, There are a couple of other
obvious selections to make.
5. Now, go back to "Computer", and navigate to the music files that you want
to burn.
6. Select the files, then open the context menu again and click on "Send
To", and then on "DVD drive."
7. The files will be copied to the disc.
8. Now go back to Windows Media Player, and tab down to the "Burn Disc"
button and press enter here.
9. It seems to take a minute or two to start the burning process, but when
it does, it will complete the burn and eject your new disc.

Thank you very much to everyone who took time to contribute.

To err is human but to really mess things up,
One needs a computer.

The ripping process to the hard drive was successful. Now, I am trying in
every way to make the below burning directions work, but they simply do
not.

I use Win 7, JAWS 12 and Win. Media Player 12. I haven't been able to get
past Step 2 yet. No matter what I try, when I insert the CD, the options
that are suggested below do not come up. They only happen when I open the
disk drive in My Computer and then I hear what Step 2 refers to. Which
programs should be open before inserting the CD??? Should any programs be
opened at all or all closed??? After that point, I do everything
suggested

but never come to a burn button, although not sure exactly even where that
should be with my truncated directions at that point.

Does anybody have any ideas on this topic and how I can do this
successfully, when I cannot even get the first step of these instructions
to

work properly???

Thank you very much in advance.

First, put the file you wish to burn to a CD into your drive, which will be
E or F or something like that.
Second, put a blank CD in your CD drive.
Third, close the drive, and see if that message pops up then. If it does,
follow the prompts and see what happens. Jim

Kevin, I must play the CDs on my Bose CD player, never on the computer.
Therefore, I must use Win. Media Player 12, never Win. Explorer.

You state and I think this is where the step begins:
when windows pops up a message you have files ready to be burned to disc

Well, this message never pops up nowhere and I am not sure why it would if
it is not first evoked to do so.
Already, I am stuck again, dead in the water.

It is so easy for operators to do things on the computer, but not so easy to

Nowhere do I find this message you refer to.

   Hi,

Try the following steps:

Kevin, I must play the CDs on my Bose CD player, never on the computer.
Therefore, I must use Win. Media Player 12, never Win. Explorer.

You state and I think this is where the step begins:
when windows pops up a message you have files ready to be burned to disc
click to continue

Well, this message never pops up nowhere and I am not sure why it would if
it is not first evoked to do so.
Already, I am stuck again, dead in the water.

It is so easy for operators to do things on the computer, but not so easy to
explain in detail how to get them done, unfortunately.
Nowhere do I find this message you refer to.
I am sorry.

try just using windows explorer
to burn with windows 7 explorer

if you want to burn files to a cd or dvd click the application key on the
file and select it to be sent to your dvd/cd drive do so for as many files
as you want to store on the dvd/cd do this also if you want to make an audio
cd note if making an audio cd it can only be played in a computer but you
can put more music files on the cd and the track names of the songs will be
retained, if you burn with win media player only a certain amount of music
files can be placed on the cd when windows pops up a message you have files
ready to be burned to disc click to continue if you have a blank disc in the
drive just click the application key and the dvd/cd drive should be selected
so just select from the context menu burn to disc and select burn to disc if
you do not have a disc in the drive, insert a disc and go to computer, open
it and select your cd/dvd drive and in the context menu of your cd/dvd drive
if you do not see delete temporary files the files have not been sent to
windows explorer if delete temporary files then just select burn to disc and
follow the prompts.
if you are making a dvd movie, only two files can be on your dvd. audio ts
and video ts. select these two files and send them to windows explorer.

The ripping process to the hard drive was successful. Now, I am trying in
every way to make the below burning directions work, but they simply do not.
After that point, I do everything suggested
but never come to a burn button, although not sure exactly even where that
should be with my truncated directions at that point.

Does anybody have any ideas on this topic and how I can do this
successfully, when I cannot even get the first step of these instructions to
work properly???

Thank you very much in advance.

Next, keep the control key down and arrow to each file to be included and

this because

there may be some visual computer users who wish to use the keyboard.

4. Once all files are selected using the "select all" or "noncontinuous"
method, press control plus the letter c for copying all files to the
clipboard.

Mouse users can click the right mouse button and click on "copy."

This only removes the titles from the cdrw drive and not from the original

do not remove the tracks, they will still be their the next time entering
the cdrw drive.
