Re: [JAWS-Users] ComboFix Documentation

2013-08-13 Thread Steve
That's what kind of bothers me about combofix. I guess if it was a last
resort for an infested computer, but I don't trust a lot of places that
offer software and then want the machine opened up.

Hi Lenny,

Thank you very much for the heads up on turning my anti-virus program off.
That is something I would not have thought of to do.

Ok, first it must be run from your desktop and you must have your
antivirus

software turned off. I normally close everything that I can.

I really have no documentation. A few years ago I had an interesting
problem

and my antivirus software support could not identify the problem. They had
me download and run combo fix then send them the report that was
generated.

I since have used it several times but first did a backup of my system. I
left it do it's thing and all was well. The problem that I first had was
that a registry element was modified. No virus just something got in and
changed it while I was on a web page. I still would like to smack that lad

his internet provider. They told him who reported. I soon got an email

removed about 1.5 gigs and that took over an hour and about 6 hours for
the

defrag. The system ran significiently faster. The next time I get there I
want to go through add remove programs and see if there is anything that

Scam, scam, scam! Don't waste your time or money with any so-called
cleaning programs advertised on TV or radio. They are more likely to
infect your PC with malware than to fix any problems. Use a reliable
utility like CCleaner, Glary Utilities or Advanced System Care, all of
which

require the services of a qualified technician. If your computer is

degrees Celsius, then you may have a serious overheating problem which may
be adversely affecting your computer's performance.

Re: [JAWS-Users] ComboFix Documentation

2013-08-12 Thread Steve
It appears legit, but you're not supposed to have any other programs running
when you run combofix.

Another option might be RKill which is made by BleepingComputer.com. It
closes known malware processes, which then allows you to try to clean your
computer with your normal antimalware and antivirus solutions. RKill
doesn't delete the program, so immediately after you run it, you need to
try to clean your computer; if you re-boot the process will start running
again if the malware hasn't been removed.

I really have no documentation. A few years ago I had an interesting problem
and my antivirus software support could not identify the problem. They had
me download and run combo fix then send them the report that was generated.
I since have used it several times but first did a backup of my system. I
left it do it's thing and all was well. The problem that I first had was
that a registry element was modified. No virus just something got in and
changed it while I was on a web page. I still would like to smack that lad
around. I think it may also have come from a porn spammer. I reported him to
his internet provider. They told him who reported. I soon got an email that
said bomb the lmchugh.

Hi Lenny,

Would you happen to have any documentation for the ComboFix program? It is
a real bear to find anything about it. What I did find is that it should
not be used by inexperienced computer users would like to know more about
it before installing it. All help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
very much for any info you can provide.
Take care.

I think the very first thing would to run disk clean up and delete
everything that it finds. Then run defrag. I just did that on a friend's
computer. She had it for a few years and never used those utilities. I
removed about 1.5 gigs and that took over an hour and about 6 hours for the
defrag. The system ran significiently faster. The next time I get there I
want to go through add remove programs and see if there is anything that she
no longer uses.I would then proceed to ccleaner or something like that, I
personally like combofix.

Scam, scam, scam! Don't waste your time or money with any so-called
cleaning programs advertised on TV or radio. They are more likely to
infect your PC with malware than to fix any problems. Use a reliable
utility like CCleaner, Glary Utilities or Advanced System Care, all of which
are free, to clean up your computer. If none of these programs improve your
computer's performance, then you may have a hardware problem that may
require the services of a qualified technician. If your computer is running
hot, I recommend installing a utility like Core Temp or Speed Fan to monitor
the CPU temperature. If the temperature consistently approaches about 60
degrees Celsius, then you may have a serious overheating problem which may
be adversely affecting your computer's performance.

I mentioned a while back that my PC was very sluggish after it was on for
about two hours. I heard TV advertisements about a diagnostic tool to fix
PC issues call my clean pc.

www.mycleanpc.com

I downloaded and ran the tool and according to the diagnostic tool my PC
had something like 5000 issues. The diagnostic tool is free but if you
want to fix the problems it found it cost $19.95 for a one year
subscription. Has anybody tried this tool and if you did were you happy
with the tools performance?

2013-08-12 Thread Mike B.
Hi Lenny,

Thank you very much for the heads up on turning my anti-virus program off.
That is something I would not have thought of to do.
Take care.

Ok, first it must be run from your desktop and you must have your antivirus
software turned off. I normally close everything that I can.
