[JAWS-Users] copying text from Outlook 2016 to Word 2016
Hi, Does anyone know what setting if any I need to change in order to allow text to be copied from Outlook 2016 to word 2016. I have this issue on and off again since updating to Office 2016 and windows 10. Yesterday I had no problem, or the day before. However, today it simply will not allow me to paste any text from one application to the other. I have even tried rebooting. This constant flakiness is getting annoying. I'm not playing an online game I'm working with people's lives on a real life project. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

I've just joined this Group and did send this email three days ago but it hasn't even appeared yet perhaps this is due to moderated status on joining so apologies if it eventually turns up twice! A couple of weeks back I was altering some Jaws settings via configuration Manager so went to user settings and looked in HTML as I thought what I needed to change was there. A change I did not intend to make and do not want is that: when selecting text, Jaws repeats it which is very confusing how do I alter this? I am using Jaws 10 beater but it happens on previous versions too. Mandy. You can toggle screen echo setting off highlighted by pressing Insert S until you hear Jaws say none. The options are all, none and highlighted. I am interested in why this is confusing for you though. How else will you know which text you have selected if Jaws does not tell you? What method do you use. Jaws will normally read out the text you select and say selected at the end. If you want to stop the reading just press the control key once. Very astute observation. Yes as a matter of fact everybody who subscribes is automatically placed on moderated status to protect the list from potentially unwanted emails. That is how I always setup any list, although it does cause some what more work over all it makes for a well ordered group of people and nobody ever needs to read the messages that shouldn't be posted. Trust me there are some rather colorful posts. Never the less welcome to the list. Mandy, I have had the same experience with JAWS 10 and selecting to the clipboard. You start selecting by line with shift-down arrow and when you get to about the third line JAWS starts repeating the selection from the beginning and you lose track of what you are selecting. I have sent a report in and it would be good if you would as well. Also, I wonder if there is an email list for the beta testers of JAWS 10. Re: [JAWS-Users] Copying Text.
Hi thanks this has solved it for me. I don't think I will need to report it as a Jaws 10 problem now although having said that, when I tried one of the alternative voices which I quite liked, I did seem to have some trouble with selected text but I don't see how altering a voice would do that. I love not having to enter to get into forms mode though. Brilliant and it seems to make things faster. Mandy. Re: [JAWS-Users] Copying Text.
Hi mandy, Whether it is a JAWS10 issue or not, it is still a JAWS technical problem nonetheless. Selected text is not supposed to be repeated as normal behaviour with Screen Echo set to highlighted text. You shouldn't have to switch screen echo to None for a solution to this alone. - Original Message - From: Mandy [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Friday, September 12, 2008 10:49 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Copying Text. Re: [JAWS-Users] Copying Text within a Flash Movie Object
Don, Were you yusing JAWS9 for this? Or version 10? I believe there's a problem with the last update of JAWS9 wherein it won't copy certain text including that from Adobe (ShockWave, etc.) If you have an earlier version fof JAWS, try copying with it. (I found that copy ctrl-c was 'unavailable' using JAWS9 the few lines with the url after the embed button where I tried it. - Original Message - From: Donald Marang [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Tuesday, August 26, 2008 1:44 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Copying Text within a Flash Movie Object I was trying to copy several long lines of text within a Flash movie on a web page. Re: [JAWS-Users] Copying Text within a Flash Movie Object
I was using version 9.0.2169. Now that I have 10 beta, I tried again with IE 7. It still does not work for me. Even the Copy item in the Edit menu is unavailable. I have since also tried this in Firefox 3.0.1. It works in both JAWS 9.0.2169 and 10 beta using Control c! However, the Copy item is unavailable from the Edit menu in both cases. Perhaps this is never intended to work and I just lucked out! The copy item in the edit menu is unavailable, whatever the version of JAWS. however, using JAWS8 it is possible to use ctrl-c having selected the lines of text (and they are selected), to copy to clipboard for ;pasting.
