Re: [JAWS-Users] Flash movies on web pages

2007-09-10 Thread Lennie Rinaldi
Hi,

If you want to turn off flash movie for a particular web page and
come back to it with the settings still off, you must make a change
in personalized settings. To do this:

Hit JawsKey+shift+V to bring up the verbocity, hit the letter F until
you come to flash movie and turn it off by hitting the space bar and
save the changes.

The next time you open that web page, the flash movie will remain off.

Hope this helps,

Lennie

That happens to all of us Lisa. It depends on how the web page is written
and tagged.
Not much you can do about it except to write the web master of the web page
and ask them to make their page 508 compliant.

Hi Denny,
I am using jaws version 6. Thanks for explaining that to me. Sometimes
when I am in forms moad jaws doesn't read the title of the box. Such as
name, phone number etc. This doesn't happen often, but it does happen. In
that case I have to go in and out of forms mode, and that is very annoying.
Do you know of any way that can be fixed, or is it just something that I
just have to deal with? Thanks again!
Take care,
Lisa

Re: [JAWS-Users] Flash movies on web pages

2007-09-09 Thread Joseph Lee
Hi Lisa,
This setting tells JAWS to look for forms using what's called
HTML tags--a way of describing HTML elements. There are tags for
Forms as well (I don't recalb what they were, but I'll search on
the Internet for it).
The reason to press CTRL plus Shift flus d is to open Default
Config file (default.jcf). If you need to make changes globally,
use Default file, as it overwrites application-specific config
file.
Cheers,
Joseph

Re: [JAWS-Users] Flash movies on web pages

2007-09-09 Thread Denny Huff
Lisa,
What version of Jaws are you using? I don't see that option in Jaws 8.
When you go into forms mode, Jaws goes out of the virtual cursor and back to
the normal PC cursor which allows you to edit the form field.
I would leave that unchecked.
As for the control shift D, this loads the default configuration manager and
any changes you make affects all applications, not just the configuration of
the application you are in. In this case, it probably wouldn't hurt
anything to turn off the flash player in the default., although if you do,
it will turn it off in any application that might use it.

Hi Denny,
I was in the misc tab, and I found a box that says use virtual labels in
forms moad and the check box was not checked. what does this mean, and what
changes would be made if I check this box? Also after I hit incert 6 for
the configuration manager I was told to hit control shift d. I noticed your
directions didn't say to do that, so what difference would hitting control
shift d make? I have jaws 6, and I'm running windows XP home. Thanks for
your help!
Take care,
Lisa
