Yup, pci is going the way of the old ISA long slots. The reason is PCIE or
PCI-Express supports parallel communications at a faster rate than PCI, and
are each on their own channel, so you don't have as many interrupts.

I don't know how else to put it, but you are confusing pci, an ancient
technology that intel is trying to kill with pci express. There are many
new pci express x1 cards that can easily fit in the pci express x16 slot
instead of a video card. Just go over to newegg and search for something
like a pci express sound card, you'll find them. I wouldn't buy much in
the way of a plain pci card today, the next board you buy probably won't
have more than one slot that will fit it.

Typically, I just use the onboard card, you won't have any issues, as JAWS,
and other screen access technology, use OSM, or there own mirror driver, to
render video.

You can also do this in Jaws Options by doing the following;

1. From whatever application you are in, press Insert + V, for Jaws options.
2. Type, graphics, into the search box, wait a couple of seconds for the
list to populate, then arrow down to,
graphics, Press the spacebar to toggle through your options
3. Press the context / applications key, arrow down to make sure that, save
the settings is checked, press enter on it if it isn't.
4. Now, tab to okay press enter.

If I screwed these steps up in any way, someone please jump in straighten
me out! Hope this helped. Take care.

[JAWS-Users] graphics question with Internet Explorer

2012-02-07 Thread Sharon Gosling
I am using Windows 7, Jaws 11, and IE 9. I want the Jaws settings to show all
graphics not tagged graphics when I open a website. Every page I open that I
need a specific graphic to show I have to go in and change the setting from
tagged graphics to show all graphics.
I think it is the configuration manager that I need to set it for all my
Internet Explorer pages but I am having a very hard time with this. I went to
the default jaws settings in configuration manager and the choice for graphics
is show all. I opened the Internet explorer.jcf configuration and it was
already set to show all graphics. I did the save on that screen anyway but
every page I open in Internet Explorer shows the graphics back to tagged only.
I am beginning to think I should just go back to IE 8 although I was really
excited when I actually got a Doctor Oz video to play the other day and then
got one to play this morning. But I can't replicate what I did except that the
link to start the video is a long string of letters and such that only shows up
once in a while. I have spent hours and hours trying to figure out exact steps
to play the videos. Very frustrating as I am really a Doctor Oz fan. If anyone
knows how to make them play, I would love to know. The website is
www.doctoroz.com.
I also need more graphics to show up on my Facebook page and on some other
sites.
So how do I make I E 9 remember to show all graphics and not tagged graphics.
Thanks,
Sherrie Gosling

Re: [JAWS-Users] graphics question with Internet Explorer

2012-02-07 Thread Dean Martineau
Sharon, you may gain a lot of running a demo of JAWS 13 and trying
the page. Sometimes the upgrades can enhance Internet Explorer
functionality with different pages. Even if you don't plan to upgrade, you
could run the demo and still get a little use of the latest version.

It seems like you're doing the right thing with regards to setting graphics
mode to All, so I don't know why the setting isn't holding. While on the
site, press shift+insert+v, then press G until you reach the graphics
options; space until you hear All, then press enter. That way, whatever the
setting is in the configuration manager, it will be personalized for this
page.

More controvertially, you might want to try the page with www.satogo.com. I
find several pages where I need to use System Access to read them fully,
though I'm going to experiment, now that this has come up, to see if having
all graphics spoken solves any of those problems.

haven't found one yet. If the programmer used standard controls. Then
they are label by jaws. To see you can open the program and rout jaws
to pc. Then put it on a graphic and do a insert + control + g to label them.
If they used custom controls. Then you will have to get someone with
sight to help label those graphics. By same above but insert + g.

 Hi,

place the jaws currtsor on the graphic, but when I go to lable it Jaws
says it is not on a graphic. I've had a sighted friend verify that I am
on the graphic.
If I press the left mouse button of Jaws, it performs the function of
the graphic. I have set the verbosity to all graphics. I even
tried having them identified automatically and Jaws didn't find any
graphics. I'm using JFW 9.0 and Windows XP. Any ideas as to why Jaws
 won't recognize the sgraphics? Thanks!

Re: [JAWS-Users] Graphics not recognized

2008-01-27 Thread Mitch Galloway
Hi Linda,
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, but no luck. Jaws just says
graphics 0 for all the graphics on the page. Strange thing is I have a
different version of the database on my home computer and Jaws recognizes
the graphics. I'm beginning to think that it is either the version of the
database or the video card.

Hi,

Maybe you can move the mouse with the simulation keys. Either that or route
jaws to pc and when the jaws cursor is on the graphic, press left mouse.
I'm struggling with something like this myself.

yeah make sure it's graphic xxx, where xxx is a number. not sure if the
numbers are just random or if there's some kind of patern or something?

 Hi,

I'm trying to use a database program that uses many graphics. I
place the jaws currtsor on the graphic, but when I go to lable it Jaws
says it is not on a graphic.
Thanks!

 Mitch
