Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 8 and Windows Vista

2007-11-11 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Hi all, I'm now using the public beta of JAWS 9, and it's as responsive as
how JAWS 8 was under XP. Should I still update my audio drivers, or, as they
say, if it aint broke, don't fix it? Thanks in advance.

 Eric and Michael,

I would suggest that Chris visit this site here is where you can get all
 the
 drivers you need for Sony:

 http://www.esupport.sony.com
and then just put in your model number and it will guide you to the proper
page. Once at that page click on drivers and you probably want to then
click on either Updated Drivers or Sony may have a link for Windows Vista
 if
that is what Chris is using.

 Chris,
As Michael pointed out, you should start with looking for an updated Audio
driver on the Sony site. You can try Narrator on the machine and I suspect
you will see the same sluggish audio response when typing which verifies
this issue. Most manufacters did not have proper audio drivers done for
Vista until well after Vista released so we have seen alot of this.

Even with the updated drivers, it still will not feel as responsive as XP.
Installing JAWS 9 will then feel very responsive. Even under XP, you'll
 find
 JAWS 9 more responsive.

 Eric

just simply not working. I'll try again later, and keep you updated.

 Mark,
This is not always the case Mark. Windows Updates do not always have the
most current drivers. It is best to go to the manufacturer (HP in this
case), and look for drivers under downloads on their pages. You will
just need to have all the details about your laptop model and the Audio
 Chipset you have.

If you get stuck, you may want to call to Freedom Scientific support and
they may assist you on this one.

There is no reason to update your audio drivers. The people that need to do

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 8 and Windows Vista

2007-11-09 Thread Eric Damery
Chris,
As Michael pointed out, you should start with looking for an updated Audio
driver on the Sony site. You can try Narrator on the machine and I suspect you
will see the same sluggish audio response when typing which verifies this
issue. Most manufacters did not have proper audio drivers done for Vista until
well after Vista released so we have seen alot of this.

Even with the updated drivers, it still will not feel as responsive as XP.
Installing JAWS 9 will then feel very responsive. Even under XP, you'll find
JAWS 9 more responsive.
Regards,
Eric

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 8 and Windows Vista

2007-11-09 Thread Eric Damery
Mark,
This is not always the case Mark.

Eric

2007-11-09 Thread Scott Berry
Eric and Michael,

I would suggest that Chris visit this site here is where you can get all the
drivers you need for Sony:

http://www.esupport.sony.com
and then just put in your model number and it will guide you to the proper
page. Once at that page click on drivers and you probably want to then
click on either Updated Drivers or Sony may have a link for Windows Vista if
that is what Chris is using.
