Re: [JAWS-Users] Looking for JAWS compatible backup software
Hi You can take a look at Image for Windows. It's not free, but when I bought it, if you are using it for personal use only, one license was good for 3 PCs. It does not do incremental backups. But it does do differential backups and full backups instead. The advantage with differential backups is that if you ever need to restore everything, you only need the latest full backup and the latest differential backup instead of needing the latest full backup and all the incremental backups since then. If you just need to restore some files, using the program TBIView with the latest full and differential backups, you can find the files you need and copy them to where they need to go using copy and paste. This program is a part of the Image for Windows package. There are several choices for compressing the backup files. These programs are JAWS accessible if you are using them in Windows. The only exception is if you have to do a restore of your entire system, which means that Windows is not available. It that case you have to use DOS or Linux to perform the restore. You can find some tutorials for this program on the JAWS-Users site. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Csaba Godo Sent: Thursday, May 02, 2013 01:22 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Looking for JAWS compatible backup software Hi Christobal, The problem with the built-in Windows backup feature is that is does not saves EXE files in normal incremental backups. Keep in mind that with any of these backup programs you will most likely need sighted help to perform the image restoration from the external hard drive, although there is a three-part tutorial on the JAWS Users tutorials page that explains how to do this without speech with Image for Windows. I have no problem using the built in backup feature offered in Windows. For example, I have used it on my windows 7 desktop and my wife's windows 8 notebook, just follow the prompts, change the schedule, turn on or off automatic backup or just change any of the settings you want. every thing is Jaws friendly as far as I have experienced. -Original Message- From: Cristóbal Sent: Thursday, May 02, 2013 12:40 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Looking for JAWS compatible backup software May I ask, what differences or advantages are there in using this program instead of the built in backup feature offered in Windows?
