[JAWS-Users] Office 2007 VS 2010

2014-07-30 Thread wayne smith
Hello-

I am still using MS Office 2007 with Windows 7 and JAWS 14. Have you found
that there is a reason to move up to Office 2010 in terms of more
functionality or ease of use? If I did move up to 2010 would it be
important to also switch to JAWS 15? I was under the impression that JAWS
15 was designed for Windows 8 and not needed for us 7 users.

Thanks in advance,

Wayne

great advice, but how do i know the length to enter? is there a way
to select the column cells that are used, and auto adjust to the
length of the widest cell?

Hello Scott,

In my message I said that you should use H followed by O followed by W to
get to where you can adjust column width. I forgot to mention that you use
Alt key prior to pressing H. The corrected message is below:

Use Alt followed by H followed by O followed by W, type in the width you
want to use and press enter key. To confirm the change you can use the JAWS
key with F command and the two numbers given at the end of the information
JAWS gives you will be the width and height of the current cell or selection
of cells.
A quick way to confirm is to hold down JAWS key and press F twice, use CTRL
end in the virtual window and then up arrow a couple times to the width and
height information.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Office 2007

2012-05-10 Thread Muhammad Babar Shahzad

Hi,
I pressed f6, tabd to word count press enter and same thing. Just word count
box opens but jaws only says "word count 1". But the jaws curcer sometimes
helps means information is on the screen but not read by jfw.

Thanks for any help.

[JAWS-Users] Office 2007, JAWS 12, WinXP, and HP workstation

2011-08-25 Thread Carolyn Barker
I would like to know if anyone has run JAWS 12 on a workstation similar to
the description below. Specifically, Word 2007 and Excel 2007 will not start
when JAWS 12 is running. It may be a security setting configured for the
network on which the workstation is running. But since we are investigating
several different possibilities, I thought I would ask if anyone is using a
workstation like this:

HP Z800 with 8 core Intel Xeon E56202.40 GHz with 3.42 GB RAM

The workstation has been re-built/re-installed numerous times. JAWS works
with other applications.

Thanks for any ideas.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Office 2007 question?

2011-01-29 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Adi,

My message did not give info about opening a HTML file in Word. It was for
opening one in a browser using the Word open dialog box. However, as far as
I can tell, there is not a way to open a .DOC or .DOCX in a browser from the
Word Open dialog box. As mentioned in my message, using the right click
menu on the file name in the list will give the option for opening using
another program, but when you follow it through, the file will still require
being saved differently. With a .DOC or .DOCX file selected in the list of
files you can tab to the Open button and use down arrow, and the choice for
"opening with browser" will be present but grayed out.

Take care.

that has already been saved as .HTM, .HTML, .MHT or .MHTML. I am quite sure
that the file to be opened in the browser needs to be saved in one of those
formats first. To use the Open dialog box, use CTRL+O to bring it into
focus. Tab to the Files of Type list and use down arrow to the All web
pages choice. Browse to the file to open. There are a couple things you
can do at this point. With the file to open selected in the list, use the
application key or shift+f10 to bring up the contextual menu. You will find
an "open with" choice in the menu. If Internet Explorer is not shown in the
submenu then use the menu choice for picking a default program. I think it
will be one of the recommended choices but if not then you can browse to the
executable using that dialog. If you use this method then be sure to
uncheck or check the checkbox that asks if you always want to use the
program you choose to open that type of file. After using the OK button,
you will get a warning or two but you can just proceed and the program
should open with your file in it.

You might prefer using a second method. After setting the files of type and
finding the file to open in the list, simply tab to the Open button. Use
down arrow key when focus is on the Open button and a menu will open. The
choice for opening with a browser will be in that submenu.

Although the above mentioned choices for opening files with the browser are
in the menus for files with .DOC and .DOCX file extensions, they are
usually either grayed out and not available or when you follow the process
through, the target program will not open the files.

I checked in the All Commands list for Word 2010, and there is no command
for opening as HTML.

Take care.

Accessibility is about the same, assuming you have the latest version of the
screen-reader, from my limited playing with Office 2010 basic, and more
experience with Office 2007 Home&Student and Professional.

In Office 2010, Outlook has instituted the ribbons that they hadn't put in
on the 2007 version. Word, Excel, all continue to have the ribbon interface
now.

2009-09-11 Thread dgcnc
I think your real question is how many keys do you get when you purchase
Office 2007. I would encourage you to contact the store where you are
thinking of purchasing the software and ask them to check their product
packaging. These companies put out different versions and promotions and
all. My brother bought a copy and got 3 keys on the particular version of
Office 2007 he bought. But, since yours could be different, find out from
the store regarding the product you want to purchase. If that store doesn't
want to tell you, call another! The store who gives you good customer
service then gets your business. Don't take somebody's word on this who may
not know what they are talking about for your specific situation. Know what
you are buying!

good morning everyone.

Yesterday, I asked the list, if there was anyway that I could install
after purchasing the program for office 2007 with the product key that
they provide you with, if I could install it on my desk top computer. If
not, does anyone know how much an additional product key for me too
install it on my desktop computer would cost? If you remember from my
post yesterday, I got a netbook computer which has a 60 day trial period,
which will enable me too use the program and then afterwords, I have the
option to either install the program through there online process, or by
purchasing the program on cd, or dvd if I buy it through another store.
I'm not trying too get the program for free without paying for the product
key or extra license if that is what's required, but I just need to know
for informational purposes, just how much an additional product key would
cost, or how much it would cost too purchase another license for the
program would be if that's what I need.

I'm having a lot of trouble with the version of office 2003 that I
currently have on my desktop computer here, along with a lot of trouble
using outlook express 6 which I'm using in conjunction with office 2003.
So, that's why I'm asking the above question as it relates too office
2007.

[JAWS-Users] office 2007

2008-10-08 Thread Marvin Hunkin
Hi.
where can i get the classic add-in for office 2007?
and did read and listen to the fs training about office 2007 with jaws, but
is there any indepth tutorials, online, that can teach office 2007, for
jaws?
if any one has got any good links or online resources, let me know.
cheers Marvin.
ps: got my trial, and got used to the menus, but access is a pain, some
times, when i am using the wizards for the control wizards, have to route
the jaws cursur a lot, to hear what is on the screen, then other times, the
wizards will not even start, and even in design view, the jaws shift control
b key for the controls will not come up either.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Office 2007 & JAWS

2008-03-02 Thread bright-sunshine
Well, their really isn't any specific training for 7 with JAWS. Jaws has
quick training that comes with your jaws CD. If you do insert-j then alt-h
you should be in the training topic of jaws. In their they have some
training with office and jaws. You can also try the Microsoft home page for
more specific training for office online. The website is:

[JAWS-Users] Office 2007 -- how to get around in it

2008-01-17 Thread Thomas j Vos
Friends,
I can't answer to the specific error message in the previous posting
about Office 2007, but I can say I am using Office 2007 with Windows XP,
and it's working rather well.
There is a learning curve because of the changes, but let's be thankful
that Microsoft does care about accessibility, and it is possible to get
around with keyboard navigation.
It is a change from the previous pull down menus, but not hugely
different once you adjust to it.
In Word:
Alt F still opens the File menu.
Alt H opens the menutab, which is much like the old Edit menu
Alt N opens the Insert menu
Alt P opens the Page Layout menu (lots of stuff here to explore)
Alt S opens the References menu
Alt M opens the Mailings menu
Alt R Opens the Review menu

>From There you can tab through the options. In older versions of Office
you could arrow down the menu, now you will tab through the options.

Note that some of the keyboard commands are still the same.
Alt O, C will still bring you to the columns menu. You can do it through
the new menus with Alt P, J too.
Alt O, F will still bring you to the Font menu
Alt T, S will still put you in the spell checker.

If you are struggling with learning the ropes in Office 2007, here's what
I suggest:
1. Go out and shovel snow for a half hour (we can do that today in Iowa)
2. Now that you've blown off steam, spend some time exploring the menus.

Use Alt H to open the Home menu, then tab through the options
there to see what each one is.
Then go to the next menu and tab through he options there.
3. Make yourself a "cheat sheet"
For each option there is a key command combination that will get
you there quicker than going to the menus and tabbing to the option you
want.
I made up my cheat sheet for the commands I usually use. Then, when I
forget the command I can open my cheat sheet and review. Eventually I'll
have the cheat sheet memorized, and you will too.
Blessings,
Tom

[JAWS-Users] Office 2007

2008-01-17 Thread Cletus Hostetler
Hello Everybody:
I have Microsoft Office Small Business XP. The Excel program sometimes does
not start creating an error message. The Microsoft explanation states that
there is a Microsoft problem but Office XP is no longer supported except for
security problems and an upgrade to a new version is suggested.
What are your experiences using Jaws 9 with Office 2007? Is there any
information concerning the new method of accessing menus in Office 2007?
Any information will be appreciated. I am running Windows Home XP.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Ann,
There is a software that "converts" Officce
2007's Libbon structure back to menus and
toolbars. It is a commercial software - not
a free one.

OK,

Thanks. How does Jaws 8 do and will 9 do better anyone know?

The entire interface seems to have changed, hard to believe Microsoft would not
have taken accessibility well into account.

[JAWS-Users] Office 2007-Outlook-JAWS reading problems

2007-08-17 Thread Christopher Bell
Hi Folks.

I am running Windows XP Pro with office 2007 and I use Outlook for my
e-mail. I am using JAWS latest update from the end of June. I find that
when reading e-mail, JAWS seems to frequently lose focus or at least that is
what I think is happening. Perhaps related, JAWS also has trouble reading
html and provides me with row and column information but not most of
thee-mail text. Any thoughts and how to correct these issues? Thanks.
Chris Bell

Re: [JAWS-Users] Office 2007 word problems!

2007-07-18 Thread Shai Wolman
Hi Paul, I am currently using this combination that you speak of.
What I have found is to disable the top and bottom edge alert in the
verbosity settings dialogue box while in word.
To do this, do an insert plus v and press t until you get to top and bottom
edge alert and if jaws says on press the space bar to have it set to off and
press enter. Now, it should work for you.
Hope this helps,

[JAWS-Users] Office 2007 word problems!

2007-07-18 Thread paul traynor
Hi All,

Is there anyone here using jaws, vista and the latest version of Office?. I
am finding problems in word 2007 with latest version of jaws where cursor
tracking is terrible when you are arrowing up or down through a document. It
simply is not reflecting where you are and is not on particular words you
think it should be on, basically for me jaws 8 cursoring is very poor in
this application and I just wonder if its some setting that needs changing
or am I doing something wrong.
I have set the zoom level to 75% and am in print layout. I have tried a
variety of other selections but nothing has been successful at fixing this.

Regards,

Paul.

Does anybody on the list use Office 2007? And even more specifically, is
there any experience with Access and/or Excel 2007? I have the following
questions:

1) How accessible are Access and Excel 2007 using JAWS and which version of
JAWS?

2) Are there serious issues importing data and formats from Office
2000/2003 to 2007?
