Re: [JAWS-Users] Program for saving Phone numbers?
Sometimes a low-tech less complicated solution works very nicely. My phone book is a text file that I open with Notepad. Depending on what computer I am using, depends on how I use this method. On one computer I just have a desktop shortcut that launches Notepad and loads the text file with the phone number information I capture. Searching is easy, because it is not dependent on fields. I assigned the shortcut key control+alt+P. The second option is on a PC where I keep track of seldom used information. Here too I use Notepad. Under the Documents folder I put a folder called Lists. Here there are a few text files that are dependent on a topic. One is my phone list of course and the others are a variety of items like supplier information and so on. The shortcut on that desktop instead of loading a specific file, it calls up Windows Explorer putting me in my Lists folder. Now I can arrow up and down and when I land on the text file I want, I press enter and Notepad calls it up nicely. And to keep things straight in my head the shortcut I assigned is control+alt+L. Now if your requirements are more complex, then this isn't the solution for you. Re: [JAWS-Users] Program for saving Phone numbers?
hello; well; the phone deck from the jaws user program page will not work with windows 8.1, also, i would assume it's a 32bit program, and I'm not sure if it would even work with windows 7. the program is called, phonebook.exe it works sort of with windows 8.1, however, it's very hard to navigate within the calendar portion of the program. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Kimsan Song Sent: Friday, January 30, 2015 1:05 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Program for saving Phone numbers? I use outlook 2010 for all of my email/phonebook stuff, but just wondered if the program presented in a previous email worked on 8.1 which I am unsure what the name was. All good, my friend. Re: [JAWS-Users] Program for saving Phone numbers?
There is a free program called Rodex, which of course is like a Rolodex file. With this program, you have a card for each contact, and you can write their information in any manner that you want. I always put the name, theaddress, phone number, and then email address. You can create a new card file for different types of contacts, such as personal friends, family, and business contacts. You then save these card files to your computer, and name them according to their contents. When a card file is opened, you can then flip from one card to another, or choose to have all of the names listed on your screen to be able to click on the one that you want to view the information on. You would have to do an internet search for the download, because I do not remember who makes the software.
