Re: [JAWS-Users] Strange problems with JAWS and OpenBook 9authorizations on Windows 7

Hi Trish

Thanks for the response. I remember your issue with someone else's
authorization key, but no one else has used this computer since I replaced
the hard drive. Also I wouldn't know anyone else's authorization number.

Could someone else's key have accidently or intentionally been installed at
some point?
I can tell you that if that has ever happened, sometimes, it rears it's
other ILM number and no matter how many times you delete and put in the
correct one, it seems to never go away entirely.

I just updated my SMA as of Monday, so come Jan 1, I am going into the 40
min mode. Then I get a pop up and another ILM number is in the edit field,
so by now, I am an expert at this. I delete that one and put in mine and so
far so good.
How about calling FS and hear them say..we cannot locate your serial number,
then they do after my long explaination of why another number is showing, my
laptop is possessed!

9authorizations on Windows 7

Hi

Ever since I had to replace my hard drive on a Windows 7 64-bit system with
a Seagate 4TB drive, I have been having problems running JAWS 14 or15 and
OpenBook authorized. After burning through a few authorization keys, I
finally determined that immediately after I boot the Windows 7 system, the
about dialogs show a locking code for both products but neither will start
authorized and have to be run in demo mode. But about 5 minutes later, the
about dialogs show a different locking code for both JAWS and OpenBook 9.
Then I can start either product and authorize it and it can be run or
restarted authorized until I re-boot. FS support tells me that I just have
to live with this situation. They say it's due to some hardware driver.
There have been no hardware changes to this computer since the new hard
drive was installed. Any guesses as to what could be done about this?

Also I noticed that JAWS and OpenBook 9 have the same locking code on a
Windows XP machine, but on my Windows 7 machine, they have different locking
codes, both in the first 5 minutes after booting and later when they can run
authorized. Is this something normal for Windows 7?

Also after I had authorized JAWS 5 minutes or later after rebooting the
computer, it appears that my JAWS authorization disappeared from the
computer a few days later. The ILM viewer for JAWS said no JAWS
authorization could be found. Other than the option to remove product
activation, (which I did not do), is there any other situation that can
completely remove the JAWS activation?

Thanks.
